Introduction:
Gas Absorption is one of the very first Mass Transfer Unit Operations studied in early process engineering. It is very important in several Separation Processes, as it is used extensively in the Chemical industry.
Understanding the concept behind Gas-Gas and Gas-Liquid mass transfer interaction will allow you to understand and model Absorbers, Strippers, Scrubbers, Washers, Bubblers, etc…
We will cover:
- REVIEW: Of Mass Transfer Basics required
- GAS-LIQUID interaction in the molecular level, the two-film theory
- ABSORPTION Theory
- Application of Absorption in the Industry
- Counter-current & Co-current Operation
- Several equipment to carry Gas-Liquid Operations
- Bubble, Spray, Packed and Tray Column equipments
- Solvent Selection
- Design & Operation of Packed Towers
- Pressure drop due to packings
- Solvent Selection
- Design & Operation of Tray Columns
- Single Component Absorption
- Single Component Stripping/Desorption
- Diluted and Concentrated Absorption
- Basics: Multicomponent Absorption
- Software Simulation for Absorption/Stripping Operations (ASPEN PLUS/HYSYS)

great work with the annotations, takes me back to university days - keep up the sterling work!
-great! I will!
there is where I'm at now
Thank you very much. Very simple explanation
Thank you very much ..!!
Really productive ❣️
Thank you very much, your method of teaching is very effective! Thanks again!
Thanks! Im glad you found it useful XD
@@ChemicalEngineeringGuy I load and discharge chemical barges on the Houston Ship channel. Long ago when I believed my calling was structural engineering I first earned an associate's degree in Drafting and Design because I wanted to work with Engineers from the ground up. After working with them 10 years I found out that they were only fond of themselves. So I found a comparable salary with a simpler way of life in barge tankering. Lol I said all this to ask why does Sodium Sulfide (Spent Caustic) 9/10 contain h2s?
Good explanations from a great chemical engineer
Thnx mate!
Спасибо тебе огромное !!!
thanks for sharing, its very informative, Great Job
Thank!
Very good video my friend. Only now I realized I used the same picture of yours on my post on LinkedIn :)
Make no worries! It is a free image by Wikipedia XD
Is there another way where the liquid from the regenerator doesn't go straight to the reboiler and a tee to the heat exchanger and the reboiler is upstream of the pump?
in this process not exit any pollutant ( like sulfur dioxide ,nitrogen oxides ) , does it applicable stack testing for this process?
Is H2S & CO2 gas after separation will release to surrounding or become the byproduct?
Very informative video 👍👍👍
kudos!
When adjust function is used in Hysys? Could you show an example in an amine case?
You will adjust for the required value, it is used when you need to fix an input only
Excelente información! Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento. Estoy interesado en tus cursos. Dónde podría comunicarme contigo? Saludos desde Dubai.

Great explanation. Thanks
Does the process generate any efluents/residues?
for sure, there must be always an extra feed since the process is not 100% reversible
Hello,
For a small scale hydrogen production plant which is better psa (pressure swing adsorption) or amine washing absorption?
what is the size?
I am designing amine regenerator and i am using steam for stripping co2 but i am straggling with the equilibrium data do i use co2 and amine data or co2 and h2o data? Can you help me with that 🙊
Well, you already stated, you are using water + CO2, but remember that CO2 binds to amine as well... meaning that you need both of them :)
Could you Please upload video of Condensate stabilisation unit and process at offshore production platform
will try, but most likely until next year! Sorry!
Nice presentation
Thanks
can i use plate heat exchanger instead of the reboiler, any difference?
Theoretically, but normal operation is with reboiled to favor liquid vapor interaction
Wonderfully explained.
Try to provide animation if possible
Will do! Currently Im on a low budget :P
Do you have simulation in Aspen of this process?
Hi, I do have some of them, but no for this one specifically
Sir how it's unit operation if the CO2 forms H2co3 ? Wouldn't it be unit process??
yeah, technically speaking, but remmeber that unit operations within unit operaitons can be also assigned as "unit operations" for instance, reactors that require heating or cooling, will be seen as a "single" unit as well
why do we ensure a lower temp for absorber than in stripper?
lower temperature make dissolution of gases into liquids better
could you please do an example of mass balance on this system.
Will try to find one
can you add caption to ur videos pls
try RUclips's automated! captions take too long =(
