Looking at that seat to bar drop makes me jealous. Short legs means fully slammed I only get about 5cm unless I want to go crazy with negative stems. At the end of the day I can at least get a position that works for me but it’d sure be nice if it weren’t on the far end of the adjustment range.
Andromalius i already have a 49cm haahah, and I needed to buy a 13cm negative 6° stem..., granted, I have about 12cm of drop, but I comfortably ride it for 4h
Andromalius with my tarmac in 52cm I’ve got a 126mm head tube. If I could somehow scrunch myself down into fitting on a 44cm frame I’d only be 2.1cm lower in front with a 105mm head tube. I’d also have to deal with the head tube angle being slacked out by 2 degrees in order to avoid massive toe overlap.
The bike is simply gorgeous. Best looking bike in the market. Now my question is: how do I always see totally slammed stems on youtube and foruns with not even all pros are using them like that? Am I doing something really wrong with my bike w.r.t fit? I look at the geometry of the venge and I don't think I could ride such a bike without having a tower of spacers underneath the steam. Since Shimano DI2 buttons are customizable, I set them up as paddle shifters like these. Bike mechanics hate it because they are used to the default setting.
The Pro's are riding SRAM AXS with 54 tooth chainrings. As a crit racer, you should definitely go with bigger chainrings. Unfortunately, the biggest you can probably get is a 50.
1. Stiffness in these big bikes is a small difference, and blind tests have shown people cant tell the difference, in some cases ppl fee the less stiff bikes to be more stiff 2. 53-11 is more efficient than 48-10, small cogs are inefficient from a mechanical point of view
I would love a video focusing on "how to get you flexibly-fit (is this a word?) to ride a venge!". What can we do to be able to ride that slammed stem? Those long and low bikes.
@@ruffrydazz2032 i'm pretty sure you can get 34 to work even on DA if you manipulate the B screw enough, and it will shift find, though Shimano doesn't officially encourage it. And using a long cage derailleur is not a big deal, either

I don't get what's so cool about gear ratios here? How does it differ from Shimano's 52/36 x 11/34? Maybe just by bigger friction caused by using smaller cogs/chainrings.
It might not be that important to some, but you get more coverage and more gears with Sram, that's pretty cool. You can do the math and find out why it's not the same as the shimano you referenced. There are things I like more about shimano, but sram axs is better when it comes to gearing ratios.
I have an opportunity to buy a 2012 Venge Pro. I have never bought an expensive bike like this. Is it a good bike to make the leap into a high end bike? If not, what would you recommend for a used, upper level , road bike under 2500 US?
Can someone explain why there's no RED AXS on his bike? I thought that was top of the line. Or is it like with dura ace where it wears down too quickly and you're better off with ultegra?
@@NorCalCycling Don't track racers typically go for a bigger rear cog to limit friction losses from having to make such a small radius 180? Would it be possible for you to do a scienticious constant-wattage test with this against your last race bike, like you did for aero wheels and helmets? (Solo riding is okay during the 'rona lockdown, right? You certainly wouldn't have to worry about traffic interrupting the test.)
Have you ever put bigger tires on that bike like 28c or 30c? If so, any issue ?
I don't get what's so cool about gear ratios here? How does it differ from Shimano's 52/36 x 11/34? Maybe just by bigger friction caused by using smaller cogs/chainrings.
It might not be that important to some, but you get more coverage and more gears with Sram, that's pretty cool. You can do the math and find out why it's not the same as the shimano you referenced. There are things I like more about shimano, but sram axs is better when it comes to gearing ratios.
5:48 You mean every joule of energy? When did ounces become a unit of energy?
It's an expression
since bob seger......
What's up with that flat top of the chain? Is that a SRAM thing? When did that start appearing and why?
Yes
you should put latex tubes in. it saves like 5 watts
He is on a Pro, not an S-Works. So bike is 2nd tier which at 8grand seems wrong to say. -U10
@@Ultegra10SPD From where I finish I can't see the difference.
@@Ultegra10SPD Idiot me just realised it wasn't an S-Works lol
Yes, S-Works is sick!!!...but, the non-S is just as magical and will save you $$$
What is your saddle to bars drop ?
How much would this set up retail for back in 2020.
So do you think you stil need a 2x drivetrainwith that 48 tooth ?
You seem tall. How tall are you and what size frame is that? I see the trend is smaller frames and long slammed stems. Just curious.
I'm 6ft maybe 6'1. t's a 56
I love Specialized.....just bought my first Road-Bike (tarmac) after habe ridden MTBs all.my Life and i love that change.
Soo nice design. 👌
Comparing gearing to SRAM, my '19 Venge Pro came equipped with 52/36 x 11/30 Shimano.
So you're losing gears on the high end and low end compared to sram 😬
@@NorCalCycling Don't track racers typically go for a bigger rear cog to limit friction losses from having to make such a small radius 180? Would these extra losses counteract the extra ~1.5 rpm required to push 40mph with the lower gears? Also find it a bit strange you're talking about how well this aero, crit racing bike can do on climbs that require a ~1:1 gear ratio. Looks like a sweet bike though, and I certainly wouldn't turn someone away if they tried to give me one!
I heard that there are problems with this group set. Is that true? Di2 ultegra is better for this bike?
no problems
Eriks bike shop Minnesota boy here
very detailed video :)
*Cries in my Btwin Triban 520*
it does the job :/
It’s not about the bike
