  • Located in the mountains of Mie Prefecture, the city of Iga, with its towering Iga-Ueno castle, has long been known as the home of the ninja, and there is no better place to learn about their unique history and culture than the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum.

Historically they were called shinobi no mono. Hidden home features would also be common in homes outside of Iga during the Sengoku Jidai. Shuriken were part of kenjutsu and not just a shinobi thing. It's a bit of an improvement from the black clad warrior myth that is even further from being accurate, and still being exploited by theme parks claiming to be historically accurate.
