Another great idea Andrew. I love this type of highlights/compilations. Maul is really an art and defending against it is tough.

Tadhg Beirne for Ireland vs the All Black's, game 3 of this years test series, did a great job in 2 attacking mauls where he bound himself to Retallick and Whitelock and dragged them both from the maul, eliminating two big maul threats, and Ireland went over for a try on the second one. Great piece of shithousery

Adam Beard against the Boks and Itoje/Lawes against the All Blacks in 2019 both spring to mind as top maul defence

One of the newer crucial skills of a modern lock is defusing attacking mauls. Wish I could do it but Im built like a silverback with trex arms. Less than ideal for maul defence I recon.

I don't like the modern ways of how driving mauls are being defended with defenders having rights to kling onto the ball while the maul is in progress (and eventually it is a scrum to the defensive side) This advantages less physical teams as oppose to physical teams. If this sort of "obstruction" was disallowed, less physical teams would not have been able to defend the ruck onslaughts from physical teams. This manner of defence is not fair and should be outlawed. It also obstructs the flow of the game.

Do you want to remove the right to cling onto a ball that you have one or both hands on? While you're still on your feet?
