Ep. 12 : "If We Hadn't Met Then..." The Choovely family spend their last day in Okinawa. They have a delicious breakfast and visit the sea that Sarang came to years ago in her mother's tummy. And they have a surprise visitor waiting for them there. Junseo and Junu get caught up in their father's enthusiasm for cooking. Hyeonseong attempts his very first pasta dish. Will it be edible? Hwijae ends up having a great but also terrible time at his parents' house. He's worried to death about what his wife will think about what his mother has done. What exactly could she have done to make him worry so much? And Haru continues her search for an early look at a career path which leads her to cooking class!

Shiho is such an adorable mother and the fact she was whining for the attention of her husband and daughter made it all so much cuter.
Others say that sunghoon is cold towards his wife but from what I can see. He loves shiho very much. The way he looks at her was full of wonder and adoration like only how a husband looks at his wife. Sunghoon is the kind of man who doesn't show his affection openly to his wife but shiho knows that sunghoon loves her. So people, stop telling the man to become more loving to his wife. He's already loving to her in a private manner that we all viewers don't know. Arasso? :)
Yeah I see that myself too and it;s on-camera anyways. Not many people can show their affections on camera. Some may think its not even worth it LOL. That's maybe how Sunghoon feels since his tough and all. l( I can quite feel his face always brightens up when Shiho calls. ;)

Some people have short memories I think, when Sunghoon went to Mt. Fuji the first thing he wanted to do was make a keyring for his wife. He went to surprise her at the train station with a 'Love Actually' sign. He filled the whole house with balloons for her in a surprise event. When him and Sarang went to the spa he called his wife as soon as Sarang fell asleep because he was 'so bored and lost without her'. Theere is a lot of affection there he just doesn't like the cameras
I actually find Sunghoon very romantic but in a subtle way. He's not expressive verbally but he show it some other way, yet, in a subtle way. It's actually really adorable! :) More importantly, he's a really good father to Sarang. He tries to make her happy at all times, even spoiling her too much by giving her everything she asks for... =X
Sunghoon is kinda like my dad actually. not verbally expressive but he shows affection in his own way. makes me appreciate my dad even more. i hope Sarang and Haru do all sorts of things with their dads as much as they can coz when they grow up they won't be able to do everything anymore. i miss playing with my dad like when i was little.

aww, haru was so adorable when she thought everyone was making fun of her dad. I get the feeling that Haru and HyeJung will be the warrior angels that will protect their silly and loving husband/father.
And Tablo's parenting style is really commendable!
I think it's awesome how Sarang knows which language to speak when she's round her parents. I know she probably takes cues from how when they talk first they talk in Korean or Japanese, but when she's with her dad she talks in Korean and when she wants to talk to here mom she uses Japanese. I guess it's just a foreign concept for me, because living in america I rarely hear anything except English and occasionally Spanish.
In Singapore, most children speak to their parents in English but speak Mandarin to their grandparents.
Haru's family is just perfect
I think that Sunghoon really is just shy when it comes to showing affection to his wife while on camera. I think he finds it awkward to be filmed during those types of moments.
I really don't like how Hwijae's mother just goes against everything he says (like the baby walker, putting the other twin in the bathtub, and the mashed potatoes). I get that she's older and probably knows more but it must be very frustrating to have someone doing everything you tell them not to when you're already busy trying to take care of twins on their own. Just let your son do his own parenting.
Because that's what grandparents do. The parents discipline the kids, the grandparents spoil them.

I'm all for the grandparents coming in and spoiling the kids, mine did too and I loved them for that, but she seems to be going against how the parent and what the parents think is safe. For example, the mother believes walkers are a safety hazard, and also thinks it hinders the baby's development. And this is true, there are multiple studies about this. Yet the grandmother still rents some for the babies and puts them in it. Also, she put the second baby in the bath even though the father said not to, it would be too slippery and a safety hazard. Grandparents, even though they are well-meaning, also need to know their limits.
Yeah, I hear you. But don't worry I don't think she would be doing that kind of stuff and more because the Korean viewers saw this way before we did and they object to it too and some nasty comments were posted about her and she read it.
Minh Van Le I kind of feel bad for her about that. Because it's not as if she's the first grandparent to go beyond the parents' wishes. yet she's being criticized like she is.
being in the walker for a weekend or eating a little bit of mashed potatoes with butter is not going to do any harm.
the mom and dad is over reacting. iv'e read the articles about the walkers and there's no definitive answers pro or con regarding the walkers. so just being in the walkers for a short time will do no harm at all.
and eating mashed potatoes for dinner for one night is really negligible. imagine one night of eating mashed potatoes compared to 80 years of living, i'm sure in the next 80 years they'll eat and drink things that are worse than mashed potatoes.
Sarang is a really smart girl. She can eat alone and dress just by herself. She's also good at talking about the things she has experienced.. I mean for someone whose age is just 2-3 years old.. I find that amazing..
I *love* how Tablo is so cool with Haru being different from the other kids. It's adorable.
Hwijae's family is so like my aunts and grandmother. They just said what came into their mind, a little bit of rude, maybe bitchy but they seriously didn't dare to harm anyone. It's more like a dog barking a lot but it doesn't bite. You need to be mentally strong and unusually patient to be married into that kind of family or you'll easily get angry and then they would say bad things about you to their friends and to your own kids.

1. Someone´s intention doesn´t matter, only the effect the action has (on others).
2. It´s simply disrespectful (even more so because she´s aware of it and makes fun of breaking their rules).
You don´t need to be mentally strong and unusually patient. You just need to be willing to accept constant disrespect. I feel sorry for anyone with in laws like that. I´m rewatching the show again and it just makes me angry to see them behave like that.

i love it when the moms come back so i always look forward to pt 2 episode of their 48 hours. and this show really brings the dad and kids together, tablo is so much better at taking care of haru now.
So far the nicest place you see in this series is Hwijae's mother's house....dang that penthouse has such a gorgeous bathroom!!!

Sarang's mom obviously has a bubbly personality, and Haru's mom said in an interview that she always has been sensitive and mean. Even Tablo told the same thing in Happy Together and the earlier episodes. That's why Haru is seldom smiling, in contrary to Sarang. Yet there's no need to pit children against each other just because they're different.

I dunno, many people seem to enjoy her. I've heard several Koreans comment on how they don't understand how Choo Sung Hoon managed to get such a beautiful wife, and many celebrities comment on her beauty. Also, the narrator and subtitles like to call her adorable and beautiful. I'd say if it's the lack of conversation, it's most likely because of the language barrier. Other than that, at the KBS awards night, many of the other fathers and mothers smiled and tried to talk with her. Most notably, Kang Hye Jung (Tablo's wife) was seen talking to her a lot about Sarang. Probably sharing tips.
Kenneth Tang I'm pretty sure the age of anti-Japanese in Korea is already fading. And I'm also sure that older people don't watch the show either, mainly younger generations. And the people seems friendly too, so I agree with the language being the problem.
Haru's very sweet gal, she's upset that her dad's work got humiliated by everyone and tried to make the rose to restore her dad's honor. Such a lovely child

I think everyone has been misunderstanding Chu Sunghoon. In the previous episode, Shihu mentioned that her husband is someone who is good at listening but seldom expresses himself. That is why she really hopes that he can open up more to Sarang and become closer to her. We only see what's on screen so let's not judge their relationship. I'm very sure Sunghoon loves his wife a lot. It's pretty obvious from the fact that he listens to everything she says and does all the tasks she wrote for him without any complaints!

Ps. I don't know whether it is because Tablo is a singer (and a talented one a that), but Haru's imagination is something to be reckoned with. I think she is very creative. She doesn't mind being different and she seems to be confident with her idea, too. Might be because the way they raise her. I think they don't want to stop her from expressing her imagination. They even encourage her - seeing how they always response to her and agree to play with her.
I really like Haru. She never ceases to surprise me with her idea.

Junseo is really big for his age, he looks a lot older than a kid around the age of 7. I have to think back to when I was teaching kids to get into his state of mind. But its really nice to see how much his parents know their kid. So sweet.

That last photo though--their poses!~ I know Hyeonseong is an amazing actor, but he appears to be an average father with two very extraordinary boys--Hwijae is the player who learns how to grow up with 2 adorable twin boys--Tablo is the silly father with the oddball yet super original Haru--Sunghoon is the tough-looking father with the sweetest little girl----I love how this show gives busy fathers the time to catch up with their kids who are growing up too fast and how much reflection they do in their own lives--AND how everything is recorded so Junu and Junseo never forget how to be good sons, and the two twins know how much their parents cared for them as infants, and that Haru understands that her freedom to choose who she can become in the future came with the extreme hard work of her parents, and for Sarang to understand how loved she is and to continue to spread her sparkles everywhere she goes. :)
In every episode I watched, for me it's Tablo's family who can make you laugh out loud! I really like their family! Especially HARU . Saranghae ~

I personally think that people is getting it wrong. Sunghoon wanted to make a baby with Shiho and he said she's the only one for him. I think that he loves her so much that he's willing to form a family together.
It's just in my opinion. Plus, Sarang is so cute, how can the daddy ever has his eyes on something else? :)
Yeah, I read it that way too.. When he said that he married Shiho because he wanted to have a baby with her, I thought he meant that he love Shiho a lot, that he's willing to spend the rest of his time with her which is why he marries her and have a baby together. I do have a lot of thoughts based on the interactions between Shiho and Sunghoon, but I won't write anymore because who am I to judge anyway.

It's just normal of kids with parents that speak different languages, they end up learning them as their native language and they don't even know the actual difference tbh that's why they slip in some words from the other language sometimes
