A striking clock can be called as hourly alarm clock because it gives warning for each and every hour. In case of passing strike it rings the bell only one time for every hour which merely warns an hour had passed. In case of counting hours it sounds the number of hours and gives the warning of number of hours had passed. Some clocks play melodies for each hour on built in music-box ( mechanical device that rolls spiked cylinder to pick the toothed comb and play melody) or barrel organ ( mechanical device that pumps air by bellows and rolls spiked cylinder to activate the draw-bars that causes opening and closing valves to allow and control the flow of air into the flue like pipes and play melody). Such clocks are known as musical clocks. Some musical clocks played only melodies and some other musical clocks also struck the hours on bell or gong. Such musical clocks are elaborate version of striking clocks. Any how a clock that gives warning by sound at every hour can be called as hourly alarm clock.
