I had a 70 Dodge Charger 500 383 magnum pistol grip 4 speed 3.91 sure grip. FF4 green with black bucket seats, console no vinyl top. That was back in 1972 I bought the car from a Vietnam veteran who ordered it new. That's a nice fine you guys have there that's a rare car the only made 1335 charger 500s with four speeds. At the time when I had mine I knew it was kind of rare because I never saw another 500 four-speed thanks for posting I enjoyed seeing it.
They didn’t put a 383 magnum in the charger from 1968 to 1970, it’s was a higher performance 383 330 horse. The magnum 335 hp was put in the cornet super bee and the 335 road runner. I have a 68 charger with the 330 higher performance in mine and never seen a numbers matching 383 magnum on the block internally in a 68 to 70 charger.
@@carebear2272 It was a Magnum 335 hp also had 383 Magnum air breather tin. Also it had a Holley carb and was painted orange . It was listed in the owners manual also.
I believe you, mine is blue and has same air breather all 383 in chargers we’re suppose to be turquoise blue weather there we’re HP engines are not, even 440 intell 68 1/2 440 six packs, you got a really rare charger that’s worth a lot of money if the numbers match has a HP stamp on the block, you have a car that’s not suppose to exist, one of a kind I’m jealous!
I would love to see pictures of your car! 68 and 70 chargers are my favorite, my 1968 QQ1 bright metallic blue with white vinyl top and blue interior 383 4BL 727 trans base model is going to resto shop in two weeks to be restored!
My first car in 1974 was a 67 dodge charger with 383 my second was a 70 340 challenger and my third a 73 SE charger with 400,,,,If I only have known what there values would be ,, l have 9 classic cars I've bought to restore, just finished a 45 dodge pickup,,, it's show quality as with my 30 model A street rod I built from scratch built all aluminum body and have 6 trophies and it's been in hottrodder and streetrod magazines.. l caught the bug at 14 years old when I went to work at my uncle's Sinclair service station/ used car lot,,,l spent my career in business for myself as a custom home builder,,,now I'm living my passion . In 75 and day of muscle cars I had the fastest car in my town and probably state,, we was buying factorie race cars and I lost many friends to speed on the street's.
another barn find that's not for sale.... not yet anyway. Most of us who bought something like this new are getting too old to crawl on a concrete floor to do the needed things we always wanted to do but didn't have time till we retired. As another friend once said, "just when you finally know everything you are too old to do most of it!"
Thanks, interestingly, my first new car purchase was 70 DODGE / Coronet 500/383/4Bbl/ auto, vinyl Top/ deluxe Int/etx@ some $3100 , full price,, Axtually, quite strong 383 ( Turquoise)::with electronic IGN/ & upgrades, etc. BODY rusted out, etc by 1975....
He covers license plate then they show it🤣nice car wish I had one. Back in 1999 a guy had one of these pretty sure was a 69 and a Plymouth satalite I asked if he would sell charger guy said no and that he would eventually put a sign not for sale and cars rotted away from sitting
Nice find guys. If I heard the seller correctly. He called the dealer and told them to put a 383 in the car. My question is what is the 5th digit in the VIN? Is it an "N" or an "R"?
Sorry, but the HEMI wasn't available in the 500 in '70, only in '69 because it was a special model that year. The '70 & '71 500 was just a trim option. The '70 & '71 500 came with a 225 6, 318, 383 2brl 290 hp, and a 383 4brl 330 hp. The 383HP with 335 hp wasn't even available, that was standard in the Coronet Super Bee. You couldn't special order a HEMI in a 500 because it was an exclusive R/T option, and being a huge Mopar fan, I've never heard of any factory built 500 with a HEMI in it in '70 or '71
You are correct about the 500 just being the mid-range trim level in 1970. However, in the VIN for 70 Chargers, the N code for the engine is the 383 Magnum. It was an option for the 70 Charger 500. I had one, and I've seen other VINs coded that way (XP29N0G). I have some pages from the Dodge Data Book for 70 Chargers, and the 335 hp Magnum is one of the options listed for both the base model Charger and the Charger 500.
1970 chargers is just a trim code for a base model, nothing extra was put in them besides the badging, I love Chargers but to consider them rare besides a 4 speed is just wrong, your better off finding a base model with the arrow instead of a 500 decal and save yourself a lot of money for the exact same car, buy the cheap 500 decal and add it
I had a new '68 Charger, so all Charger stories interest me. If you carry out this restoration with good content etc, I'll be checking in. Here are a couple of thoughts. Keep the bla, bla, bla to a minimum, but have it have content. Try not to run too long, as people can lose interest at about the 10 minute mark. Get good shots of detail work with matching explanation with a steady hand on the camera. If you number each video, please put the number FIRST in the title. Thanks!
Let me guess, you'll buy the car from him for pennies and sell the car for $100k, and will go to the rich. Why show video if none of us will afford it watching your videos
hate to bust your bubble gentlemen the real mc coy of the charger 500 came with a sloped rear window ..and that's the car they used to make the daytona version.....but yet still the car is gorgeous
WHY do people record video in the vertical aspect ratio? It looks terrible. Look at every TV screen, computer screen, movie screen and you'll see that they are ALL wider than they are tall. People that record video with their phones NEED to rotate the phone 1/4 turn....90 degrees. Your video will fill the screen to the fullest and there won't be those blurred edges or black fillers.
You had me with Charger 500 and lost me with "God bless". There are two things this car enthusiast won't tolerate on an automotive YTube channel. 1. Religion, 2. Politics. Dogspeed!

You should have Galen Govier document your car, it’s would increase your car tremendously in value

Shame he couldn’t swing the Hemi insurance rates. It’d be a 6 figure car

@@hermitcrab9250 they made the 500 in production for 69 and 70, the first prototype was in 68 a Charger RT.
@@robintaylor1490 what I meant was they only had the sloped rear window in 69. The 1970 charger 500 didnt have it.

May not be a charger 500 back window is wrong that is a regular charger
69 only had the flush window, 70 was just a trim package.
Ordering a 383 instead of the Hemi was DUMB, DUMB, DUMB
Not nearly as dumb as your comment.
It's not your money shut up
Lol, I don't know what that guy was smoking back then, but the HEMI wasn't available in a 500 in '70? 😆
