Just a few observations from the owner of a 10 year old copraphagic pug: he was caged for his first six months and I truly believe that he eats 'it' to try to do his own housekeeping. He goes on papers at night and has three walk a day outside...he NEVER even tries to eat 'it' outside, nor does he show any interest in his Bichon sibling's stuff or kitty litterings. Years ago, I tried capsicum capsules, both commercial and homemade, then pineapple. No effect (he did love the pineapple!). Then I read about protein deprived rabbits who 'recycle' their droppings to re-absorb nutrients and we switched from kibble to good quality canned, then to home=cooked meat/pumpkin/broccoli...even now, he still occsionally eats poop at night, as if he feels compelled to keep his 'den' (my bedroom) clean! He's 10, going on 11, so as for now, I've come to terms with it. Love your show, and my Bichon, who was a chronic skin chewer when I adopted her in 2017 is grateful for the tea/aspirin topical treatment which has reduced her 'hot spot' suffering to near zero. So thank you and best wishes from our family to yours.

My pitbull has the opposite problem - a healthy fear of poop. From the time he was weaned, he wouldn't go near a turd if he could help it. He is now almost 7 years old, and if he notices a fresh pile in the distance, his eyes will bug out on a stem like he saw a ghost, and he will take off in another direction like his life depends on it. If he is running along and unexpectedly happens up on one, he'll jump sideways three feet in the air like it was a snake about to bite him. It is funny as heck to watch. He has always had pleasant breath too, and gives good kisses. 🐕♥

I’ve had my Blue nose, pitty, since she was seven years old she would go poop and then try to get away from it as fast as she could. This problem just started about four weeks ago. She seems more desperate! She’ll go out and poop after she eats and then she’ll come around it and sniff it keep going around it and then, she tries to lick it and I’ve been finding her in corners with a poop that been eaten off of or when that’s disappeared from the day before. I’m hoping One of these solutions helps. I don’t think she’s digesting her food. Well as I’m seeing little bits of rice that are notdigested since this started

And if there is a single turd in an acre field where we are playing, he won't go anywhere near it. He'll keep one eye on it at all times, and give it a wide berth. It's almost like he's afraid it might grow legs and try to sneak up on him.

Thank you, Dr. Jones! We adopted a sweet adorable 8 year old puppy mill Maltese female who had that nasty habit. She also spins alot whenever she gets excited so we assumed it was because she was caged most of her life and she may have done it to keep her kennel clean. She only did it with her own though, she wasn't interested in eating my other dog's poop. I think I managed to break her of it by cleaning up her poop right away after she went and by feeding her beef liver a few times a week. Beef liver is loaded with all those wonderful B vitamins, and my dogs love liver. I think it also helps dogs with anxiety. It takes time, it's not an instant fix, maybe 3-6 months, but it is all natural and well worth the wait. It's an inexpensive meat too, so that is also helpful for those on a budget. Beef liver and nutritional yeast helped me beat my own severe anxiety too in about 3 months. Nutrition is so powerful.

My dogs stopped eating poop after I started adding trace minerals to their water dish. It’s like super concentrated liquid trace minerals, and you only use a little bit per gallon of water. They completely stopped poop eating right away. I also noticed they stopped eating grass as well.

I will try the digestive enzyme. I have already been trying nutritional yeast in case there was a b vitamin issue. And she has been on a multi vitamin as well. I got a multi dog house. The older male hound dog (Louie) eats random other dog shit and random shit in general off the ground. Sometimes he won’t. Sometimes he will I just never know. The female dog tends to love rolling in shit randomly. Sometimes she won’t sometimes she will. It pisses me off when he eats poop. He has uncontrollable diarrhea right now because of an obvious messed up stomach due to eating random shit. If I’m able to pull them both away from obvious shit I see I do but sometimes small dog shit gets nested in grass and makes it harder to see.

MSG ("For bid") Iʻd wonder about it contributing to diabetes. Iʻve been following a keto diet for years now, watch all the keto diet doctor vids I can, and MSG is definitely a no-no. Worse than sugar for you, and sugar is bad enough. Would there be enough Vitamin B-1 in unfortified nutritional yeast?
My dog LOVES goose and cat poop; I buy digestive enzymes; my dog wonʻt eat them; theyʻre prepared as little chunky treats and he just ignores them. Maybe Iʻll try adding some nutritional yeast to the keto food I make for him.

Thank you, I'm going to try your suggestions with my GSD. Her eating poop is really putting me off owning a dog. She eats it then vomits on my floors, or she comes in with her breathe smelling like fecal matter. So disgusting.

I have a tibetan spaniel who won't touch dog poop at all BUT boy does he enjoy chicken, turkey, rabbit, and deer poop. Won't touch coyote or bear poop either. Very discriminating I guess you could say. He dines on a homemade raw chicken diet with liver, vitamins, fish oil, etc. I supplement with beef, sardines, eggs, etc every now and again. The only thing he might be deficient in is vegetable matter. l considered making him a face cover out of screen fabric for when we were in the woods, but his facial dimensions made this impossible (think space helmet out of black screen fabric). I've decided to research something that might help cleanse the truly negative, harmful components of said poop, mostly parasitic infection. Any ideas????

I just received my two containers of Ultimate Canine. How long will it take before my dog stops eating rabbit poop? or should I get Accent as well?
Update I have purchased two small can, and he is almost done with the second large can. My dog is still eating rabbit poop. So I don't think this will stop dogs from eating rabbit poop. I called the office about three months ago and left a message and wanted to know what to do, but I did not receive a call back. I guess they are too busy to follow up with the customers that purchase their products. I will be buying a third large can really soon, just for the nutritional content only. I purchase another brand for food enymes, and joint formula.

I love all your content you’re truly helping so many animals. But PLEASE never give any human or animal MSG. I work in functional medicine and this is an excitatory neurotoxin, highly processed food additive. Besides that any anxious reactive or fear dog this could make exponentially worse.

False information! MSG is a naturally occurring product, especially high in tomatoes. People like you spread incorrect information, it’s been used for years with no ‘proven’ bad effects.

I’ve tried all of the above tricks, my 8 month old French bulldog not only eats her own poop but eats her sisters and any visiting dogs. It’s so gross and frustrating! I have female siblings from the same litter, both spayed, happy and healthy. Just this one little (BIG) problem! She prefers fresh poop but will eat a frozen turn if she finds one in the snow… HELP

Question. My dog had a chicken allergy, and loves cat poo. L.O.V.E.S it. Problem is. My cats eat chicken based cat food. We bought two litter robots and he still finds a way to getbit sometimes. Is there anything i can put in their food that wont hurt them to deter him from eating it. Or am i going to have to put covers over the kitty poop spaceships?

My dog will eat anybody’s poop, she for some reason is a eating machine. When I first got her she was skinny and I thought she just needed to get healthy but now she’s grown and still eating like a freaking pig. She won’t stop eating if you allow her to keep going
