Just a few observations from the owner of a 10 year old copraphagic pug: he was caged for his first six months and I truly believe that he eats 'it' to try to do his own housekeeping. He goes on papers at night and has three walk a day outside...he NEVER even tries to eat 'it' outside, nor does he show any interest in his Bichon sibling's stuff or kitty litterings. Years ago, I tried capsicum capsules, both commercial and homemade, then pineapple. No effect (he did love the pineapple!). Then I read about protein deprived rabbits who 'recycle' their droppings to re-absorb nutrients and we switched from kibble to good quality canned, then to home=cooked meat/pumpkin/broccoli...even now, he still occsionally eats poop at night, as if he feels compelled to keep his 'den' (my bedroom) clean! He's 10, going on 11, so as for now, I've come to terms with it. Love your show, and my Bichon, who was a chronic skin chewer when I adopted her in 2017 is grateful for the tea/aspirin topical treatment which has reduced her 'hot spot' suffering to near zero. So thank you and best wishes from our family to yours.
You read right. Its mainly a diety deficency. Gave my dogs a vitamin fr om Petsmart in their food everyday and it stopped. All dog foods are not well balanced .
My pitbull has the opposite problem - a healthy fear of poop. From the time he was weaned, he wouldn't go near a turd if he could help it. He is now almost 7 years old, and if he notices a fresh pile in the distance, his eyes will bug out on a stem like he saw a ghost, and he will take off in another direction like his life depends on it. If he is running along and unexpectedly happens up on one, he'll jump sideways three feet in the air like it was a snake about to bite him. It is funny as heck to watch. He has always had pleasant breath too, and gives good kisses. 🐕♥
I’ve had my Blue nose, pitty, since she was seven years old she would go poop and then try to get away from it as fast as she could. This problem just started about four weeks ago. She seems more desperate! She’ll go out and poop after she eats and then she’ll come around it and sniff it keep going around it and then, she tries to lick it and I’ve been finding her in corners with a poop that been eaten off of or when that’s disappeared from the day before. I’m hoping One of these solutions helps. I don’t think she’s digesting her food. Well as I’m seeing little bits of rice that are notdigested since this started
@@nwcountry Mine lives to catch frisbees. He brings them right back for another toss and can play for a really long time. And if there is a single turd in an acre field where we are playing, he won't go anywhere near it. He'll keep one eye on it at all times, and give it a wide berth. It's almost like he's afraid it might grow legs and try to sneak up on him.
Every dog I’ve ever had found cat poop IRRESISTIBLE. So, all our litter boxes but one are kept in the basement, with the door closed. We installed a cat door, but she can’t fit through 😂 When we forget to close the door she sneaks down. It’s so gross!
Thank you, Dr. Jones! We adopted a sweet adorable 8 year old puppy mill Maltese female who had that nasty habit. She also spins alot whenever she gets excited so we assumed it was because she was caged most of her life and she may have done it to keep her kennel clean. She only did it with her own though, she wasn't interested in eating my other dog's poop. I think I managed to break her of it by cleaning up her poop right away after she went and by feeding her beef liver a few times a week. Beef liver is loaded with all those wonderful B vitamins, and my dogs love liver. I think it also helps dogs with anxiety. It takes time, it's not an instant fix, maybe 3-6 months, but it is all natural and well worth the wait. It's an inexpensive meat too, so that is also helpful for those on a budget. Beef liver and nutritional yeast helped me beat my own severe anxiety too in about 3 months. Nutrition is so powerful.
My dogs stopped eating poop after I started adding trace minerals to their water dish. It’s like super concentrated liquid trace minerals, and you only use a little bit per gallon of water. They completely stopped poop eating right away. I also noticed they stopped eating grass as well. I’ve been adding raw wheatgrass juice powder to their wet food and I think that may help too. Thanks for your tips!
Thanks for the tip! My dogs both are eating grass and they get sick when they do and I didn't know what to do about that, and thanks to your helpful tip I'm going to try that! I do have wheatgrass powder in my pantry already but I will have to search for the trace minerals. Thanks again so much! 😄🙏
Thank you for this video. I've had two dog's that there issue was with cat poo 💩. One I got a pet trainer and broke him of the habit the other I had no success with other than keeping a clean kitty litter box at all times. I appreciate you Dr. Jones.
I’m sure if my poop eater ever got a snack out of the litter box it would be game over. Thank goodness she hasn’t made that discovery yet. Cats have their own bathroom with a baby gate so they can come and go as they wish and the dogs don’t even try. But I still scoop everyday, preferably twice having 2 cats.
When we rescued our newest dog she was so malnourished she ate her poo. I have never had a dog do such a thing so I was grossed out. After only a few days she stopped. I fed her home cooked hearty meals and am so thankful now when she see's her poo she seems grossed out by it too. BUT. If she was still eating it, no way would I give her MSG. I'd just stand right there and scoop up the poop as soon as it hit the ground lol. I did when I brought her home so I would still be doing it if that's what I had to do.
My wife nearly died this week from septic shock form e coli. We have a 14 month male dachshund who continuously eats his poop and I think the infection came from his mouth to my wife.
So sorry for you both! I also wanted to add that I am starting to see warnings on freeze-dried dog foods and treats. “Wash your hands after handling.” We have a new puppy, and she is the first ever to eat her poop continually. I will try the digestive enzyme. I have already been trying nutritional yeast in case there was a b vitamin issue. And she has been on a multi vitamin as well. She was weaned properly and was fed a high quality food, so I might just need to try the Accent.
I can say the German Shepherd I adopted back in April of this year did eat his poop. I don't think he is doing it anymore since I haven't seen him doing it. I was told some dogs that are adopted from shelters tend to eat their own poop. I get a lot of good information from your videos. My dog is a big part of my life since it is just me and him.
I got a multi dog house. The older male hound dog (Louie) eats random other dog shit and random shit in general off the ground. Sometimes he won’t. Sometimes he will I just never know. The female dog tends to love rolling in shit randomly. Sometimes she won’t sometimes she will. It pisses me off when he eats poop. He has uncontrollable diarrhea right now because of an obvious messed up stomach due to eating random shit. If I’m able to pull them both away from obvious shit I see I do but sometimes small dog shit gets nested in grass and makes it harder to see.
I cant believe sweet, innocent little Tula would eat poop!!! Besides I would imagine she gets all those good supplements. Maybe that makes them even more palatable.
1/8 teaspoon on your dog’s food… My dogs eat three times a day and one dog is about 45 lbs and the other two are under twenty. Does the amount differ per the weight of the dog and would you add Accent to all three meals or just one meal a day? Thanks!

MSG ("For bid") Iʻd wonder about it contributing to diabetes. Iʻve been following a keto diet for years now, watch all the keto diet doctor vids I can, and MSG is definitely a no-no. Worse than sugar for you, and sugar is bad enough. Would there be enough Vitamin B-1 in unfortified nutritional yeast? My dog LOVES goose and cat poop; I buy digestive enzymes; my dog wonʻt eat them; theyʻre prepared as little chunky treats and he just ignores them. Maybe Iʻll try adding some nutritional yeast to the keto food I make for him.
The Accent is a miracle. We have several dogs and a few were horrible poop eaters. We've tried other things like meat tenderizer with no luck at all. Since starting the Accent several days ago there has been a major change in most of the dogs. Our old lady lab isn't changing but 1 out several is a huge difference. How long can the dogs safely be in the Accent?
Thank you for your assistance in such a crazy world of dog misinformation!!! My dog is eating cats’ poop from the litter box. She now is having tummy issues and eats grass a lot lately. I give her 6 lb frame Just food for dogs but perhaps need to switch options yet again. She’s a Yorkie poo with very fussy taste buds! Your guidance would be a huge help. I’m ordering the vitamin btw! Thank you immensely!
Thanks Doc!!! I have 2 dogs that for some reason love to eat poop from the back yard. I have a total of 5 dogs and they are fed Hi Pro dog food. I have known that it usually meant some sort of deficiency but was not sure how to address it. So, will be getting some of these things to see if I can get them to stop eating it! :) THanks again doc!!
Sorry Doc, my Morkie puppy has been on for bid for months and it doesn’t work! I got this puppy at eight weeks old him from big one he’s been eating his poop my other dogs poop. I feed him royal Canin puppy food, which has plenty of B vitamins. I’m stopping for bed because it makes him throw up. Now I play dodgeball trying to pick it up before you eat it. Is it possible they will grow out of this?
I think it’s the food!! I just got a puppy yesterday and she’s 8 weeks and eating her poo.. Breeder gives her Royal Canin. I’m changing her food asap… Did the MSG work? Or has your dog outgrown this?
Hi doctor, thank you for the video, I really need your help, How many times a day shall I sprinkle accent on the kibble every day for my chihuahua, in the morning and night or only once a day?
Hi Dr .Can dog have orange flavoured Vit C to make the honey Tumeric and Vit C for pyometra paste to ingest, thank you . She’s expelling Brown discharge. Thank you 🙏.
Is Forbid bad for dogs in a long term of use? Because i start giving Forbid to my 5 months old puppy. And I am wondering if she will stop eating its own pop... so i keep using it for like 1 more week as directed 1gram a day. I am verry worried that it will start again doing Coprophagia
Hi I want to ask, My 12 years old eskie was suffering from ckd, his fluid therapy and medications were going on but one day he ate a small stinky poop from road when I took him for a walk without leash, would it impact my eskie kidney although it was first instance. After his passing away, if I recall the things, his health was declining day by day after that poop eating instance. Kindly please clear my doubt.
Thank you, I'm going to try your suggestions with my GSD. Her eating poop is really putting me off owning a dog. She eats it then vomits on my floors, or she comes in with her breathe smelling like fecal matter. So disgusting.
I have 2 new pups, Dachie/chihuahua mix. Also have chickens. They go nuts ! I fuss at them, but they run the fields. What do I do ? They are 4 mos old. It’s not their poop they eat
I have a cat that I have caught eating what I can tell cat litter. Why is she doing this or is she eating her poop? She also lays in the box whether it's cleaned out or not.
I have a question my dog just started doing this when he wakes up I find little poop balls on the bed what is causing this he does not know that he doesn't and he gets really upset when he finds it his diet has stayed the same she is not overweight he is eight years old any advice would be great
I have a tibetan spaniel who won't touch dog poop at all BUT boy does he enjoy chicken, turkey, rabbit, and deer poop. Won't touch coyote or bear poop either. Very discriminating I guess you could say. He dines on a homemade raw chicken diet with liver, vitamins, fish oil, etc. I supplement with beef, sardines, eggs, etc every now and again. The only thing he might be deficient in is vegetable matter. l considered making him a face cover out of screen fabric for when we were in the woods, but his facial dimensions made this impossible (think space helmet out of black screen fabric). I've decided to research something that might help cleanse the truly negative, harmful components of said poop, mostly parasitic infection. Any ideas????
I just received my two containers of Ultimate Canine. How long will it take before my dog stops eating rabbit poop? or should I get Accent as well? Update I have purchased two small can, and he is almost done with the second large can. My dog is still eating rabbit poop. So I don't think this will stop dogs from eating rabbit poop. I called the office about three months ago and left a message and wanted to know what to do, but I did not receive a call back. I guess they are too busy to follow up with the customers that purchase their products. I will be buying a third large can really soon, just for the nutritional content only. I purchase another brand for food enymes, and joint formula.
Dr. Jones, please help. My dog had yeast infection in one ear and vet prescribed Mometamax for 14 days but I accidentally used for 24 days. My dog is now partially deaf. Is there anything I can do so my dog can hear again?
I love all your content you’re truly helping so many animals. But PLEASE never give any human or animal MSG. I work in functional medicine and this is an excitatory neurotoxin, highly processed food additive. Besides that any anxious reactive or fear dog this could make exponentially worse.
False information! MSG is a naturally occurring product, especially high in tomatoes. People like you spread incorrect information, it’s been used for years with no ‘proven’ bad effects.
My minpin eats cat poop. Think these remedies will work for him? He never ever eats his own or another dog's poop. But, hunts cat poop in the yard daily.
Hello Doc. I'm from Philippines and I use Magic sarap it has MSG in the ingredients, I'm now putting some on her food for 3 days now and I caught her eating her poop today and then she throw up. Is that a sign that it's working or not?
I’ve tried all of the above tricks, my 8 month old French bulldog not only eats her own poop but eats her sisters and any visiting dogs. It’s so gross and frustrating! I have female siblings from the same litter, both spayed, happy and healthy. Just this one little (BIG) problem! She prefers fresh poop but will eat a frozen turn if she finds one in the snow… HELP
Question. My dog had a chicken allergy, and loves cat poo. L.O.V.E.S it. Problem is. My cats eat chicken based cat food. We bought two litter robots and he still finds a way to getbit sometimes. Is there anything i can put in their food that wont hurt them to deter him from eating it. Or am i going to have to put covers over the kitty poop spaceships?
So I just got my dog she was a stray and I noticed that she like dry heaves and like try’s to throw something up at first I thought it was her rope toy but now that it’s gone she’s still doing the dry heaving any way I can help her?
My dog will eat anybody’s poop, she for some reason is a eating machine. When I first got her she was skinny and I thought she just needed to get healthy but now she’s grown and still eating like a freaking pig. She won’t stop eating if you allow her to keep going
Hey Doc! Thanks for the advice on giving Accent. I tried it for a week on my 5 months pomeranian puppy and now she stop eating her own poops! Thank u
Thanks for the confirmation! I have a 3-month-old pug that just started eating his poop.
What did you try? The enzymes or the MSG?
How many times a day did you sprinkle please?

I give her 6 lb frame Just food for dogs but perhaps need to switch options yet again. She’s a Yorkie poo with very fussy taste buds! Your guidance would be a huge help. I’m ordering the vitamin btw! Thank you immensely!
What about 10 week old puppies?
Thank you
Thank you so much for this video! I am going to try your suggestions and I do have your vitamin product.
You're welcome
Thank you, Dr. Jones for your caring heart. Question please...what seafood and frequency do you recommend for homemade dog food ?
Thank you so Much!!!!!!
There are other natural food items that can be added to the dogs food and/or sprayed on the poop to stop the nasty habit.
I gave the access for 3 weeks and my Boston terrier still eating her poop, doesn't work your advice for me😢
What about a dog who eats geese poop, can anything be done about this?
Thank you thank you. 👍👍😀
THanks again doc!!
You're welcome
Any updates?
@@Frenchyk seems to work as I haven't caught either one of them doing that and they don't seem to mind the taste of their MSG mixed in to their food
Mine seem to love msg in poop even more
Thank you 🙂
You're welcome
I’m changing her food asap…
Did the MSG work? Or has your dog outgrown this?
Hi doctor, thank you for the video, I really need your help, How many times a day shall I sprinkle accent on the kibble every day for my chihuahua, in the morning and night or only once a day?

Fantastic!
What do you do when your dog is eating cat poop? How do you get them to stop?
Is it safe to use this "Accent Flavor Enhancer" while my 10 month old shih tzu is healing from very mild diarrhea, or should I wait? 💩 🐶
Hi
I want to ask,
My 12 years old eskie was suffering from ckd, his fluid therapy and medications were going on but one day he ate a small stinky poop from road when I took him for a walk without leash, would it impact my eskie kidney although it was first instance.
After his passing away, if I recall the things, his health was declining day by day after that poop eating instance.
Kindly please clear my doubt.
My bigger dog will eat cat poop and my sons male dog would eat in the litter box thank you dr jones i hope your doing better
Glad the video was helpful
Thank you, I'm going to try your suggestions with my GSD. Her eating poop is really putting me off owning a dog. She eats it then vomits on my floors, or she comes in with her breathe smelling like fecal matter. So disgusting.
New Sub!!! I'm desperate Sasha won't stop messing with the cat litter, AKA poop!!! yucky!!! thank you will be trying this...
Can MSG harm them in long run?
How about dogs who eat cat poop, not their own. Can an MSG product be fed to cats?
We had maltis and never had such problems. Now we have shishon 10 months and she always looks for rabbit poop on backyard and eats it.
I don't know much about MSG, but what I've heard is that it not good for you so is it safe to give my dog?
Thank you so much I'll give it a try. It's the diarrhea she has for thr rest of the day that makes this a habit I wanna break.
Doc how much would you recommend per weight . I have a few dogs at different sizes
Omg my dog 🐶 cannot 😢😢 im so tired of it.
I have 2 new pups, Dachie/chihuahua mix. Also have chickens. They go nuts ! I fuss at them, but they run the fields. What do I do ? They are 4 mos old. It’s not their poop they eat
What about dogs that eat dirt mostly clay dirt in Nth Florida it’s not orange it’s tan color
I have a cat that I have caught eating what I can tell cat litter. Why is she doing this or is she eating her poop? She also lays in the box whether it's cleaned out or not.

My Chihuahua 9 yrs old. Will eat chicken poo. Will this stop that as well?
What about dogs who can only eat hydrolyzed food?
You have to make the poop taste bad.. shouldn't it already taste bad 😂
Mine not kenneled kenneled n still eats poop outside i did rescue him from the street he didn't eat poop he has picked on a new hobby, advice anyone?,
I’ve tried all of the above tricks, my 8 month old French bulldog not only eats her own poop but eats her sisters and any visiting dogs. It’s so gross and frustrating! I have female siblings from the same litter, both spayed, happy and healthy. Just this one little (BIG) problem! She prefers fresh poop but will eat a frozen turn if she finds one in the snow… HELP
😹
