Well you definitely know how long it took me to edit 😂 thank you. Lots of great games came out last year, and happily not too many added to the backlog
awesome vid. i always do a write-up of all games like you to give a lot of great games that aren't top 10 material a shine. have noticed more youtubers doing it, which is really cool. love watching these.
@@marconeves1979 Thanks, it took me a long time to record and edit this together. But really pleased with the finished result. I definitely think if I'd played more of Rise of Ronin it would be higher on my list. I'm looking forward to jumping back into it and completing it in 2025 hopefully
Thanks I played a lot of games! Out of the 23 that I played that released last year, I completed 13, and 3 of them were huge RPGs, so I'm really pleased with that. I also beat 7 games on my backlog, so happy with that too 😁
Glad to see you had a very good year with gaming Kate ! Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts and opinions ! I like that you can critique a game’s flaws whilst still having respect for the game, it shows your respect for the medium ❤
Thanks Alex, I played some great games in 2024 and really enjoyed talking about them for this video. It took me 2 days to edit because I'm too much of a perfectionist 😅 I'm hoping to do more reviews next year and have a new idea for how to do them more regularly, will see how the community likes the new idea 😁
Stella blade, dragon age, Indiana Jones are my games of the year. I managed to complete Indiana jones in 3 days with all the achievements. I’ll definitely buy the dlc when it comes out.
@@BigBangfanforlife nicely done! I'm looking forward to jumping back into Indiana Jones and Stellar Blade was a surprise game for me this year. Didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I'm going to continue my Dragon Age The Veilguard stream every Wednesday with my Qunari Mage, looking forward to it
I loved Space Marine 2 and had so much fun playing it! I still need to finish Balder's Gate 3, currently in the middle of a co-op play through with Dante. It's our goal this year to finish it!
It makes me real sad that more people haven't played Rebirth. The amount of people that have told me something like "I won't play it cause I heard it's a minigame fest" makes me sad. It's like did you even play the original FF7? There was so many minigames in that.
@@Ejohns1004 it's such a great game!! The mini games in the golden saucer and Costa Del Sol are part of the fun. I loved every moment of FF7 Rebirth and want more people to experience it!
Veilguard ranked higher than I expected it to tho I understand your reasoning. I know a lot of the new-to-the-series players loved it, because of course they didn't know how much lore was ignored, changed, rendered moot or destroyed. I had fun with the game on two playthrus - it's gorgeous and combat was fun (if same-y after a while) but like you, I wanted it to be my GOTY and instead it's a pretty, fun and forgettable entry to the series. Shame.
I found it really difficult to place and rank Veilguard this year, was it disappointing in places, absolutely. Was it a bad game, no....so many mixed feelings and thoughts on it. Writing my review script for it is going to be so difficult
Games I played ranked. 14. Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League 13. Silent Hill: The Short Message 12. Life is Strange: Double Exposure 11. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 10. XDefiant 9. Until Dawn (PS5) 8. Star Wars: Outlaws 7. Sonic X Shadow: Generations 6. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle 5. Dead Rising: Deluxe Remaster 4. Stellar Blade 3. Tekken 8 2. Silent Hill 2 1. Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth
@@wickdaline8668 a great list. How was Life is Strange: Double Exposure, I heard mixed things about it, but enjoyed the previous Life is Strange games. I wish I had the guts to play the Silent Hill remake 😂 I really don't do horror games
@N7Kate Double Exposure is sadly the weakest game by far. Not exactly the legacy sequel to the original game people hoped for with Max returning. I also think Silent Hill 2 is a cakewalk compared to Slender the Arrival. No other horror title will terrify me the way that game did. Doesn't mean SH2 is bad, though. It's still a good remake.
I keep trying to like Japanese video games, but can't. Many are masterpieces of game design, but I just can't engage with them. The anime art style is so overused that it's boring. I've always found it cheap-looking and ridiculous, with the oversized eyes and tiny mouths and noses, but I could get past that. However, there's so much imagination evident in the games that it's a shame the art style is unoriginal and ordinary. (And why do we accept the depiction as sexy of female characters who look young enough to be schoolgirls?) If it isn't anime, the art style is of characters that are over-stylised, as in Final Fantasy games, with hairstyles that are jagged and pointy and would require the attention of hairdressers every ten minutes to maintain them. They carry unfeasibly large and cumbersome weapons and the absurdity of this prevents my immersion. Dialogue is laden with a tone of the momentous even when what is said is mundane. Combat is splashed with bright colourful lights that can get in the way of the action, and the ears are assaulted with arcady bleeps, bloops and jingly sounds. The developers seem to have an outdated idea of the masculinity of heroes and the femininity of heroines, with heroes too sullen and moody and heroines too sweet and deferential. All the main characters look too young to be doing what they are. The games are very popular, though, so there must be a demand for them and a wide appeal, which encourages the developers to continue producing them.
@@jeremiahkisimba5938 that awesome and I think many people felt the same this year. I've certainly heard that from several people in my discord community. Why was it your game of the year? Always interested to hear other people's thoughts on DAV
