You said the backup takes about 20 minutes, the XDA developers says it takes UP to 45 minutes, and mine's been going for about 2 hours.. anyone else experience this and just let it run its course? Or do I need to restart the process?

After rooting Appstore dont connect and Google market too ! Bottom menu dont show even after screen orientation change (it appers only after turn off-turn on, but only for one visiting application menu). And after reload - all setting are gone.
Great video for rooting the Nook. Thanks. You stated in the video that you were going to post a link for those that wanted to install Gmail and other Play Store Apps. I cannot find that link. Can you help?
If you do mess up your nook, you can get the latest firmware from here... drivers.softpedia.com/get/JOYSTICK-GAMEPAD-WHEELS-and-TABLETS/OTHERS/Barnes-Noble-NOOK-Simple-Touch-Tablet-Firmware-121.shtml
hey guys I installed the root successfully, but every time I try to download something from the app store it said that there was an error with the network connection. Also, amazon app store doesn't work and I don't know how to download apps. I'm sure I'm connected to the internet, because I have a wireless icon. Please help :-)
Hi, your video really helped me to root my nook, is the easiest tutorial i've seen, now I can use it to read all my school pdf's (i study medicine so I read a lot of it), but i've been having some battery draining issues. Could you make a video about how to optimize bettery life? Thank very much!
The best way to improve battery life is to keep Wifi off when you are not using it, also if you can make sure your screen time out is turned down to about 2 minutes or so. Besides that you may be able to underclock but the nook already has such little processing power, so that might not be a good idea.
OK, I managed to figure everything out, eventually. I'm having another go at creating my super cheap perfect e-reader and now it seems I may succeed, woo-hoo!
I'm using Nook Simple Touch with GLOWLIGHT and its version is 1.2.0. Can it work well and not lose its light when i follow these instruction? Please help me.
Oh, I have rooted it, but with Glownooter. Do you know how to install apk. files (non-market apps)? My Nook Glowlight always tells that it is out of space but actually it's not like that.

This root is bad. If you are, like me, looking into getting more "reading power" from your nook by installing your favorite reading app from the Play store (along with your favorite dictionary, notebook etc.) this root is not for you. First of all, the available apps are very limited (e.g. my favorite app Moon+ reader is not available) Second, most of the "available" ones would install but not run! So if this root doesn't give you more reading power, what does it do? Well, not a lot that you would want from an e-reader. Who would wanna watch RUclips videos on an e-reader, I wonder. This root is just a nerdy thing. I can't see any value for it except for the sheer thrill of making it do stuff it wasn't made to do, very awfully! There might be better roots out there, but so far I haven't found any. Nook doesn't seem to be getting much attention from the hacking community. Verdict: avoid!
Do you happen to know if Wattpad and Microsoft Word works with this root? They're the only reason I want to install this root on my nook, but if they don't work, I won't consider installing this.
theplaidmaster I don't. But I deeply doubt it. It uses some kind of a third party app store that has a limited number of apps. It's completely useless and full of bugs.
Great, a 62 year old like me followed this & rooted my nook. Easy peasy. Many thanks.
Still rootin' in 23'!!
i did this on my nook and it worked perfectly thank you so much
My said success but after reboot start nook software again. What can be a problem?

Thanks... I tried another method and it screwed up my nook. I went bank and used your method and am now a happy camper:)

Unfortunately i have heard that this method could break the glow light but i haven't tested it, so it might work, but proceed with caution.
