Concert of the savoyard automaton by Polyphon with music box and monkey automata - The roses - Métra

Lutece Creations (www.automates-...), the European specialist of music boxes and automatons, offers through its Parisian store and its websites, various antique automatons (from the end of the 19th century until the first world war) and vintage automatons (from the 50's).

In this video you will see a rare Savoyard from the German company Polyphon made around 1880 - 1900 in Leipzig. It is a polychrome terracotta statue representing a organ grinder setting in motion a music box with interchangeable disks of 40 cm in the shape of a little theater in which monkeys (a violin player and two dancers) are animated.
This Savoyard style 100 is a very rare version. The current version (simple box with decorative organ pipes) is represented by 5 or 6 examples in the United States.
When you insert a coin in the slot located above the music box, the Savoyard automaton is activated and you can listen to "The waltz of the roses" by Olivier Métra (stereo recording).
