- Bruges is a beautiful medieval town in the north of Belgium. The city is super-walkable so we climbed the Belfort, enjoyed the MRKT, and found a white whale of a beer made by monks under a vow of silence.

Nice!!!! Good memories being made
Climbing up that bell tower looked awesome. Looks like a very chaming place to start your travels and looks like some good beer too.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily Bruges was our consensus favorite stop until towards the end of the trip. Our top 3 in no particular order were Bruges, Venice, and Brussels.
What an amazing day! That beer had to have been a real treat! Now you can say you have had one of the best beers in the world! Haha
@@darcyshikingdiaries I can say that! I didn't necessarily think that though, lol. Too much hype to live up to? Maybe 🤷♂️
Two things struck me from the get go during your morning filming of the city was a) the utter lack of car, bike, and pedestrian traffic at that time of day vs. a U.S. city of comparable size, and b) how clean the sidewalks, streets, canal, and buildings were vs. a comparable U.S. city. The inner workings of the bell tower were endlessly fascinating to someone who’s never been in a belfry but always wondered how they worked. Great first video to kick off the series!
@@coleswanger in every city we were in, bikes, scooters, and Vespas ruled. Streets aren't big enough for much else. This was barely 5am, and in most places people don't eat breakfast until later and don't head to work until 9 or so. It was nice to have the town to ourselves!
A little disappointed in no bats in the belfry comments from you. Awesome adventure. Mrs dude dad good call on the triple. Thanks for taking us along. 👍🙂🙏
I hope you brought all your hiking buddies back one of those beers😊
@@dayhikedave ahhh man, bats in the belfry. After last year's trip, all bats are to me are a reason for rabies shots!
Thành phố với kiến trúc xây dựng cổ điển rất đẹp trường tồn theo năm tháng ,tôi rất vui được theo bạn đi thăm quan nơi này .
Great start for a wonderful vacation. It is interesting to see the old city. Maybe life is much quieter there. Was that beer similar to a Yuengling Lager?
I love European architecture. It is MUCH older then anything we have here in the states. Bruges looks very quaint. Hopefully you guys got into a regular sleep schedule and started to look more like locals then American tourists.
@@travelingRonman the sleep schedules fixed themselves, but nothing can stop us from looking like tourists, unfortunately! Bruges was our favorite city until maybe a day ago.... Venice definitely made a case! Thanks for watching, Ron.
OMG! The tower is soooo cool! Are your ears still ringing?? 😂
@@krohikinghappens500 really caught us by surprise!
Two questions: did all your hiking sufficiently prepare you for those tower stairs (wow!) and was the beer worth waiting 20 years for??
@@lori416 Yes, and..... maybe? The beer was fine. I've never been a big believer that there can be a "world's best" anything, especially in a subjective field such as taste.
Leaving your baseball cap on inside a restaurant is such an American thing to do... please be a bit more considerate of the customs and dont do that!
Vid was a bit short, where's the rest of Bruges?
@@Wertmarke we only had a day and a half. Thanks for watching!
