It’s awesome to hear this from first hand accounts I joined the army because of the paratrooper stories we’ve all heard. I joined the 173rd airborne and fought and was wounded in Afghanistan in 2007. God bless America and these men
First comment 5 years ago. I’ve seen this a bunch of times and still enjoy it. I used to watch the Big Picture and Victory at Sea as a kid. My dad had served in Italy. I agree with Gen. McAuliffe, the 10th Armored didn’t get enough credit for their role at Bastogne.
I too grew up as a kid watching these religiously from about 8 years old onward and I still enjoy them unfortunately it's such a lost time I don't know if today's 8-year-olds even know World War II happened
Lorne Greene, Bonanza's dad as well as America's Dad as Ben Cartwright, was Canadian and during his WW2 radio news broadcasts, was known as The Voice Of Doom. I have nothing but respect for him.
great to hear first hand accounts, the human and emotional toll is still fresh in their stories; Deveroux 1:15 was a stage actor before enlisting and post war broadway producer, and it shows on how comfortable he is in front of a camera, while the others are very stiff ... he was related to the Barrymore clan, such as Drew Barrymore
Mr. Greene sounds very similar to William (Canon tv series in the 70s) Conrad who also "refereed"/commented on documentaries, as is pointed out below it is a very distinctive informative correct reading from Mr. Greene. Chris *(Conrad served as a fighter pilot during WWII)
No but we had more then they did and Air control was ours ..More planes then them too .If Germany could of produce what us Americas produce in numbers it could of ended differently because Germany weapons were better then ...
@@kal.50bmg32 All you have offered up is an ignorant statement and a muhaha. I’d love to engage in a battle of wits with you but you clearly lack the ammunition.
17 seconds in the video and without reading any comments yet, let me guess what the non-Americans will be complaining about in the comments.....no mentioning of the contributions of Allies.

Excellent, great to hear it first hand from the men who were actually there !!

The "other bridge" in Trier was probably not blown up because it is an old Roman bridge with columns that date back to the 2cd century.

It’s important we have these videos for the future generations.
Unfortunately, the "woke left" (communists) are trying to destroy all of our history so they can further their own agendas....
The ultimatum letter that was delivered to General McAuliffe was TERRIFYING to read.

Good Stuff ❤🍀❤🍀
Armor is the combat arm of decision.
Heroes one and all.
General Wm. Roberts had a serious "whistle" when he spoke!
He musta caught a piece of scrapnel in the teeth.
Dude at the beginning sounds like Uncle Arthur from Bewitched. 😏
"The war was over " ??? Forgetting the Pacific... yeah it was also a part of the "war" ....
Title should be corrected.
*_"The Battle of Bastogne"_* ... nothing proper ignores St Vith and others.
wth with the big ol moniker on the bottom of the screen ? parasitefilms it should say.
us had made heavier tanks but the m4 cheaper easier to make etc..
Was the sherman tank powerful enough for europe,Europe, many where destroyed.

@@johnmoses9618 The "M4 Sherman" was nothing but a selfpropelled coffin, to be honest.
@@kal.50bmg32 It was far more safe to be an M4 crewman than to be a line infantryman..
@@Chiller01 That's really an amazing proof of quality for any tank. Muahahahahahahaha !!!

"Das yunkeez sink dey vin wah all by hisself!"
This was so well scripted you can smell the propaganda dripping off the paper.

Well, it's kind of easy to be anti-Nazi. Aren't you?
@@scottjoseph9578 Look at the description on his channel...he's one of those flat Earther conspiracy theorist nuts.
@@ct6502-c7w I didn't note that. THE BIG PICTURE is good historical stuff.
