    I've known this channel for a bit more than a year now, practising the material for about as long, so there's nothing new in this video that you cannot already find in earlier videos on the channel, but this is a very goog summary for people who are new to this. For anyone who's ever struggled to understand why they couldn't get to play what they wanted like I did, this model is really good.

    Really helpful advice you don't really hear people talk about. I always get subconscious and make mistakes I usually wouldn't when playing in front of people. It makes sense that it most likely comes from listening and imagining how the piece is coming across instead of just expressing it, thanks Phil 🙏

    They say that music writes itself, in the extent that one texture or color leads into the next. I love free flowing like brainstorming on the piano is like telling a story yet to be revealed by the next chord. Our ears and hearts tell us what sounds hopeful, happy, sad, pensive, freeing, etc. It’s all there, waiting for someone to find it!

    Splendid. I've never actually thought about the fact that there's s a specific number of rhythmic cells. interesting.

    I have been learning bass guitar since 2021, and loving it. I've bought a keyboard to learn my internals, and sing intervals better. The box that the keyboard comes from says "no experience necessary" :)
    Since learning the piano as a child, and not really enjoying it, I haven't touched a piano/keyboard for decades. I love how you 'feel' the music, about the blocks, colours to the blocks, and your playful approach to making music. That's what I need to transfer to the bass guitar too.
    ... I'll definitely be learning piano / music from you! /Natalie

      That's great! Here's a tip for you... Only think of intervals within harmonic structures where you have a clear sense of the root, 3rd and 5th, and major or minor tonality. Like single notes, intervals in isolation don't really carry much tonal information.

    I've watched this three times, it's so jam-packed. Looking forward to more like this. I should change my nickname to Blockage Queen.

    Thank you Phil. Everything here in your video makes sense to me. Not sure how I got out of practicing the materials last year, but I want to get back to following them again. I'll start over with Step 1 again and see how things go.

    22:25 Editorial: thought to mention that it looks like the video stops at 22:25 but the recording carries on all the way to 26:08.

    Funny that you talked about doing this unless you have a block. That's my problem, since I had emotionally traumatizing experiences with my music teachers. I'm working on breaking through my blocks, so that I can try to have a melody in my head.
    You mentioned colours. Do you know of musicians that are colour blind? We tried to do a poll on twitter, but it's not a good place anymore.

      Sorry, I've never considered any relationship between colour blindness and music.

    Why is rhythm spelled that way? Where does one get started learning your model?

    • @PhilBestMusic
      @PhilBestMusic  Год назад

      If you mean rhythmic spelling, it's to show the correct grouping. If you mean the word "rhythm", well that's a whole other story that maybe someone else might know. I have learning materials available from my website, PlayPianoFluently.com
