Thanks for these great nostalgic films, I get upset some times when I see how nice our country used to be. I don't think those old telephones are hideous tho, I like them.
"Hideous"? GTS installed hundreds of those all over the country in private (internal) phone systems and no-one ever complained ;-). Although I do admit the sleek, beige T4 successor was much sexier and even made brief appearances in James Bond films!
The staff will be leaving the building.......only after rooting out all personal possessions, coats, hats and handbags.....don't forget your personal teacup and sandwiches in the kitchen!
Surprised that the firemen wore all black - high vis is a deffo requirement in their job. The firetrucks in the US allegedly can hit 70mph from rest in just 7 seconds.
The 'Look at Life' films are Fantastic!.....so well made.
Quality
Another world for me in 1966, I was at school, always nice look back through this film thou.

WTF did he do at 5:07, smashed the glass then had a bit of a wobble, like it was a surprise to him lol
Brilliant.Well as brilliant as a fire safety video can get. 🔥
so much pride put into the narration by this guy... in EVERY episode. If you were to believe him London and GB are God on Earth lol
Yeah status
Don’t know if I want to live in London.
Always catching on fire!
lol 😂😂😂
I joined the London Fire Brigade in 1967. Fires were far more intensive then. By the time I retired, the frequency and intensity was so much lower.
I didn't know about the London salvage corps, very interesting.

8:49 what model is that fire engine
And the worlds most cheery Cockerney chappie at 5:46 in the lift
what they Used instead of a sirene the Fire Bell, even in 1966?! wow thats very uncommon.
I say, how very posh we were in 1966. I wonder what happened since then?😂😂😂😂
Very good!
Thank you kindly for posting these Look at Life episodes -- though I disagree with your characterization of the old telephones as ugly!
New and grander my ass
Bring back the bell system, much better than the noise we have now.
I Never Been To St Paul's Cathedral Before.
Wait - less than 5,000 _lived_ in London when this film was made?! I assume he meant the city center?
Wow - have to see how many live there today
You need to look up what ' The City of London' means. It does not mean the same as 'the city of London'.
@@jdb47games ok thanks - good point - is it considered a borough?
It’s just a shame it’s not like that these days 😪
The staff will be leaving the building.......only after rooting out all personal possessions, coats, hats and handbags.....don't forget your personal teacup and sandwiches in the kitchen!
In which volume of look at life is this fire over London, thanks
Thumbs up 🔥
A lift goes against all firefighting procedures.
Those modern buildings are eye sores on the skyline so glad they banned their construction, brutalist architecture is a sin against humanity
Grenfell tower

Our appliance can reach 7mph from rest in 70 seconds.
Thumbs up 🔥
