All the more reason I think Drummond should have continued to be Sonic, he and Junichi have very similar voices that Ryan made for a perfect english counterpart

This voice is perfect! he has that perfect blend of a mature voice, but it actually sounds young. You could actually believe that this sonic is 15 as opposed to sounding like an adult TRYING to sound like a teen. I love Ryan, Jason, Roger and Ben, but they don't really sound 15. THIS is awesome.

I am a Japanese Sonic fan, but I find it hard to recognise this as Kanemaru's voice. They all sound like Ryan or Jason's voice. However, Sonic 06's 'Smile' and Generations' voices sound like Kanemaru's.

Ryan Drummond still my favorite of all the Sonic voices, but I would also take this over Roger's voice for the modern model, however if they made modern Sonic closer to boom sonic design-wise I think Roger's voice would work way better for Sonic if they want to keep Rodger, I don't hate Rodger Craig Smith he's an amazing voice actor I just never thought he matched up with modern Sonic's character design and proportions, sonic boom sonic is the only time I ever actually could believe Roger's voice coming out of a Sonic
I was expecting Sonic X japanese dub with english lines soundalike, instead I got a perfect sonic english voice. Maybe it's just me, but I wish we got this sonic voice back for the english. Nothing against the new actor but he lacks the energy and excitement of the older sonic voices. I still like his chill and more laidback voice though (gives me a sonic OVA dub vibe) but that energy is what pulled me in as a kid; which makes sense that someone running fast everywhere would be loud and energetic.
As someone who has listened to a lot of Jun'ichi Kanemaru's songs (yes, I don't listen to him in the games because I'm dyslexic). This sounds of. Like a impression. Oh tons of original clips sounded really cursed. Kanemaru did not sound that good between Sonic Colors through Forces (generations was pretty good) because of the bad scripts. Roger was able to work with the goofy and niche themes of the meta-ish era.

I love Drummond, but the reason Kanemaru sounds like him to ppl is because his cadence is the most similar. To me every clip just sounds like their respective VA with a Kanemaru tone filter (which is exactly what AI does). That said, personally a good Sonic voice has to resemble both Kanemaru's cadence and tone/timbre. Jason was eventually good in Secret Rings and Black Knight, but it was still miscast in my opinion. He was great as Shadow tho!
Tbh sonic would've been so much better with that guy as the va, Idk whats about roger, even when he tried to act serious in frontiers, he seemed like a joke, lifeless, idk if its the model or the voice acting, some people say he acts to childish, but he acts to lifeless, we need more emotion like the idw

That would've taken much more work for ElevenLabs which struggles with text-to-speech generations. In order for this to work, I'd have to voice the translated lines myself then ask elevenlabs to use my voice as a base. Though I can try it out.

I feel like the voices of some characters nowadays sound like caricatures of the archetype they play, for example, Shadow now sounds way too edgy and Rouge sounds like a typical sexy girl, I believe this is a boring choice, I preffered the more nuanced Shadow and the playful Rouge from the Adventure era.
The original voice cast had this "indie" game feel to them and imo I really liked that. Most of the voice actors were locally known for doing advertisements and radio shows (save for the original voice of Omega who also voiced Doom Guy and that is huge). Modern voice cast is good, I like Roger's new approach to sonic, Dr. Eggman is still awesome, Tails, and Amy too, but Shadow sounds grumpy and edgy and doesn't reflect the anti-hero character we saw in SA2.
