Have you noticed any issues recently with your Costco rotisserie chickens?
😌 Nope! * cough cough* I hadn't noticed *cough* a thing *cough* but I noticed I gotta go get this *cough* checked out.
No. I ate some of chicken from Costco a few weeks ago. No issues. My friend gets the rotisserie chickens kind of often. She has had no issues either.
you can't roast a chicken at home for $4.99
No, and I get them all the time.
The idiot at our Costco has a tendency to not know his job of filling all 3 ovens at the same time that’s about it.
Sam's Club probably started this unsubstantiated rumor. 😂😂
Listening, did anyone else wonder where this came from, who's behind it? No, not just the Mashed Lady. She just mouths what she's told.
(I have no connection to Costco, except to get a lot of their food delivered since lockdown.)
Ya this channel is always bashing Costco chickens
I picked up 2 rotisserie chickens this morning and just ate some. It tasted fine and no chemical taste!
probably bad batch.
I get a Costco baked chicken each and every week and so far they have been EXCELLENT!! If I ever have a problem.. I will definitely let you know💯👍🏾😊
It's not just Costco. I've noticed worse [lesser] food quality in many many food items over the last few years.
I concur!!! Thought it was just me nobody talking about it.🙏🏻❤️
this is the big truth here... theres so many things i cant even look at that i used to love.
Agree. Walmart’s chicken are seriously on diet.
Take to mind that C-19, changed thing and our taste buds changed too.
Costco chickens are still huge. And delicious.
😎 At the price of 5 bucks, and it's a whole chicken, and fully cooked, and juicy, taste's fine to me bro. I mean, I may have an incurable disease now, but that's not gonna stop me from saving money on some chicken 😌
Haha
A lot of the chickens at Costco where I shop is getting less cooked, more pink meat it seems like they’re rushing the cooking process to deliver it to customers
@@rudfil I miss Sam's club's chicken, I moved from America To Canada, so no Sam's clubs here 🥲
Ya me to dude. I love foods that give me uncurable diseases, so I can save a few bucks for the after life. Lol
@@toddharris5308 heck yeah buddy!
Anything posted on Reddit is suspect. Costco has their own farms now to keep the cost low, I think they no longer have multiple suppliers.
Really? Where did you get this information?
I heard the same thing
Own farms? Yeah right costco have 3 different chicken suppliers just in case you don't know.
@@ti10to Who are they? Show proof.
American chickens are chilled in chlorinated water, Canada uses air chilling and the chlorinated water treatment process is banned in Canada. Canada also dosent have sams club.
Nothing wrong with chlorinated water
Many of my friends and family who are Costco members told me that the inflation has now affected the wholesale prices as well as supply interruptions. Wow! Even Costco, Gordon's, and Sam's Club are hiking their prices.
Costco is not price gouging. It is the only company not price gouging. All this inflation is not inflation. It is just greedy companies Squeezing the worker and politicians saying go for it. Deregulation at it's finest.
Someone didn’t take economics in school 😎🚬
So has Costco increased the price on their $4.99 rotisserie chicken? And if so then by how much is it now ?
Make sure you thank a democrat for the fantastic inflation
I never bought Costco's rotisserie chicken, but this whole topic made me curious, so I bought one today. I can definitely understand where people are coming from. There was subtle chemical taste, which may not be noticed by most people. I also noticed that there was a part of the leg that was particularly strong in chemical taste. I read a comment somewhere that it was a cleaning chemical Costco used to disinfect rotating rods. I'm inclined to believe this. I think the part of the leg was wrapped around the rod and picked up more of the chemical flavor. If this is what's causing the issue, then it may be best to buy their chicken later in the day. I bought mine at 11 AM.
I was wondering! The one we got today smelled and tasted heavily like chlorine. I was afraid it wasn't safe and tossed it!
Heard about this lately. I have never had problem ever in 25 years. I got one other day and it had horrible chemical soapy plastic smell and taste especially the skin.
Me too. I'm in Phoenix.
I love the rotisserie chicken from Costco.
Occasionally, I pickup a day-old chicken and it not at its best.
Most of the time I get a fresh one and it is delightful!
I got food poisoning the second day I ate Costco rotisserie chicken. I won't buy them anymore.
I have found several Costco Chickens that the Breast Meat was either Pink or had Red Spots, and the Drumette Bones being Redish. I have taken parts of them to the Health Inspectors, and taken the remainder of the Chicken back to Costco, for a Refund
That’s because they brine them
I am not being unreasonable when I say that I have been buying Costco rotisserie chickens for at least 30 years but in the last two weeks the three rotisserie chickens that I have bought have a very weird smell. I had to use hot sauce on one of them to be able to eat it. I thought maybe it was just off batch but the one that I bought today in Phoenix has the strange smell. It's not like the other chickens that I bought their all of these years. I think they are marinating the chicken in something different , perhaps a different chemical or a oil?
There is a chemical taste I have been noticing in foods of all types for over forty years. This taste is due to a disinfectant that is used to clean equipment and preparation surfaces, and I don't believe it is chlorine bleach. They wipe down surfaces with this stuff, whatever it is, then fail to rinse or wipe down with plain water. A soft-serve ice cream place that I once frequented made a batch without rinsing the cleaner out of the equipment. It was uneatable. I threw it away, and never went back. Some places like Taco Bell and pizza joints slide the food down the stainless steel counter, and the food picks-up the off taste if cleaning was improperly done. Food service workers may have even been told they don't need to rinse after using this product. A quick look at food service disinfectants sold on Amazon show that they brag about not needing rinsing. Sure, if you don't mind your food tasting like disinfectant.
I stopped buying the roast chicken when the last 2 I bought was partially raw.
that why you have an oven or just look at at the store. Itisnt hard to pick out an undercooked bird.
And address the issue with the store. Duh.
You can take everything back.
Yes, I supposed I could have driven the hour and a half back to the store, but when I cut into the chicken and blood spurt across the counter that was enough for me.
The one I bought today was undercooked
My son's gf worked at Albertson's for a while. She said that during orientation they were told that their rotisserie chickens were all rotated the same number of times, and that it was the same number as Costco's.
if Krogers get its hands on Albertsons store like they did with Ralphs some years ago - be prepared for some not so nice changes -
As long as you cook your chicken with fresh ingredients and at the right temperature, look for the smaller ones and pull them when there done, and level the bigger longer.
I do miss Costco, but having membership at Sam's and Costco at the same time was not monetarily feasible. Both places are good chicken wise.
Love Costco chicken…good for 3 meals plus soup with the juices added. The last 2 times, the chicken upset my stomach. Not sure why, but we will try it again…and again and again
You will spend more cooking it yourself. And at my two favorite Costco's I have not noted anything except great taste and the chickens are well above the 3 lb. minimum weight. Just a moment of science, chlorine water is regular water with chlorine gas infused (like at pools) a few hours after release of the water, the gas is released, and no chlorine is still there. Some friends that catered parties gave me the clew to soak my lettuce in the sink filled with water and a cap full of non-flavored bleach and the results were amazing. Give it a try, no Clorine smell.
Off topic, and not to take away from this issue found with Costco rotisserie chickens but I have noticed that Sam's club rotisserie chickens are undercooked/raw most of the time. Has anyone else had this issue?
Yes. I brought one of their chickens home, went to cut it and blood spurt across the counter. That was it for me
I've never liked the rotisserie chicken. The texture was always iffy for me. And Europe banned American chickensb because of the way we raise and clean our chickens.
Stopped buying the chicken over two years ago. Was not tasting good anymore. Noticed a huge decline of product options and lesser quality of goods. Been a member for 20 years and am seriously considering dropping my membership.
The Las Vegas Summerlin Rotisserie Chicken smells so strongly of chemicals it is completely inedible. I also let my cat smell it and she turned her nose up in disgust, I'm not imagining it lol.
No Costco for me, cannot walk the distance. No need to buy bulk, I shop local.
I've tasted that pine flavor before. It means the equipment has been cleaned.
I didn't believe the rumors about the taste. Well I bought two. The first day it tasted good, but the next day when I heated it up it indeed tasted horrible. I am wondering if it is the plastic containers they come in. Perhaps put them in a cardboard type container with an aluminum lid or something else, just not plastic. I have a very sensitive sense of taste and can taste things others cannot.
That new plastic bag - They claim it is to cut down on garbage but the exact opposite is true. I used to wash out those plastic trays and recycle them. Now I have to reach my hand into that retched bag, grab that greasy bird out, cut off a piece and try and get it back in that greasy mess-bag. That heavy plastic bag is going to fill up the dumps because no one is going to wash them, and they spill all over. A major fail for Costco. Oh yes, it should go without saying that Costco BBQ birds are one of the greatest laxatives out there!
Had a soapy chicken baked today in the phx area
I have purchased the chicken at Costco about a year ago and it really did have some strange flavor. I've ended up throwing it out. I haven't purchased it again after that.
The biggest problem with Costco rotisserie chicken is what to with the leftovers after you've been eating the same chicken for the last 4 days damn days and run out of ideas what to do with it!
put the excess pieces in the freezer for later -
@@battles146 no room. It's full of other stuff from Costco I couldn't finish. 😆
There's no doubt you get quantity and major cost savings with this chicken however, I can also tell you that there is something that is not quite right with the taste. I'm buying barbecue sauce right now to help drown out a bit of the yuckiness.
Everytime i eat any of the pre made meals i get massive headaches. Definitely injected the food with something
The Sam’s club and Costco rotisserie chickens taste great and for $5 they’re a great quick meal. What most people don’t know is that the chickens they cook are about to go bad and that’s why the best if used by date is usually only one day.
I NOW buy my rotisserie chickens from Gordon foods..only $5.00 and r GREAT..never had a issue with them, and the breast r very meaty..just love them,u all check them out if u have a gorden foods around u..I'm in Michigan..not sure they have them at all stores.if they do, grab one and check it out..
Gordon Food Service is a foodservice distributor based in Michigan serving the Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, and Southwest regions of the United States and coast-to-coast in Canada. They have their own youtube channel -
I just bought one yesterday in Warrenton oregon looks delicious can't eat it really strong chemical taste
Well it’s better than Walmart
The only Sam's club I've even been in was a store that was closing and liquidating everything
i concur sprouts rotisserie, if you go to the right store, with the right staff member cooking them PROPERLY, has the best rotiserrie AND you can get it already carved up.
They just undercooked , most rotisserie chickens at supermarkets are usually undercooked
I quit buying them from all stores. Most have too much salt, cholesterol and preservatives read the label
Costco's Rotisserie chicken tastes good.. And I didn't notice any chemical taste.
Never tasted anything off. But I’ve had stomach issues after eating it. Can’t say it was the chicken for sure. Could be the fat??
Today's edition is brought to you by Sam's Club
Where does the Mashed Lady get her props?
Is the oven and the marinate 😂😂😂😂
I now when I want the inside scoop I depend on Reddit threads. What could go wrong????
None of the commercial chickens are very good. I used to be a butcher and birds are different .
Eating Costco chicken as i watch this lol
I knew something was wrong when my dogs wouldn’t eat the chicken
Damn! Cats love em
I just ate a piece today Thursday march 16 2023 and it does have a chemical taste i also noticed something white like fat but it was white and fat is usually yellow
Me too! White fat looks very suspicious to me. I've never seen anything like that in my rotisserie chickens. The taste and smell are slightly off but I'm comparing that to all of the hundreds of chickens that I have bought at Costco. Something is definitely different. I wondered if they were trying to reduce quality so people wouldn't buy as many?
You do not have to be a member to use the food court, or the liquor dept, or the pharmacy. BTW, which COSTCO locations are supposedly having these problems with the chickens? The one I go to in Wisconsin has excellent rotisserie chickens, as always.
About a year ago, the Costcos in my area updated their food courts and you now need a membership card to use the food court. They're also cashless - you order from a bank of kiosks swiping your membership and payment cards, get your receipt, then go to the window to pick up your food.
for the past few months they have been extremely dry they use to be juicy now they taste like they been under
the light too long and these are just put out SMH
This. I don't know what is happening but sometimes they're really good and juicy and sometimes they're horribly dried out and old tasting.
Walmart potatoes had a chemical disinfectant taste 10 years ago.
I feel it’s the plastic container taste, so perhaps the plastic has changed.
I kept waiting for a comment or spokesperson from Costco.
I noticed this right away! had to throw it away :(
This is too much targeting Costco....competitors and envious companies BACK OFF.....! And do like Costco....offer good quality and low price! If you can't....stop it and zip it up...!
The food court you don't have to be a member to get food.
My parents belonged to Costco since the late 1980s. I loved to get samples as a teen and talk to the sample people. I didn't take all samples because I'm a picky eater.
In 19990s Costco opened closer to my parents and they went there a lot more. I sometimes went with my parents to buy my own food.
Costco has good memories for me.
Depends on the costco you go to.
Did you sample the their rotisserie chicken? 🤮
@@lmn1966 my parents would buy Costco rotisserie chicken. It was salty to me. I didn't like much and I only eat chicken breast.
Don’t buy food at Costco it’s terrible for you
Sometimes things can go wrong and you get a bad batch of chicken for dinner
Uh oh looks like trouble in Costco paradise. I hope they turn it around.
I wish they had grass fed grass finished meats.
So do I, and Organic Potatoes.
And I also wish they would require *non-GMO labelling* on their food!
Lately, they tout their raw chicken as "air chilled". Why?
First off, you don't have to be a member to get food from the food court. You do need to be a member in most Costco locations to purchase a chicken. I have no problem with the quality of the Costco chickens. I recently tried the Sam's club chicken, it was dry and small and took forever to get. For now I will stick with Costco. Was this clip or story sponsored by Sam's club by any chance? Seems like it.
Before you Criticize the Costco Chicke, look up the Research on How they Raise their Chickens.
They have their Own Supply, through their $500 Million Farms
Where, please?
I've purchased semi-raw chickens from Costco. Not good.
@3:58. I see the Trump Sandwich is still available. The Cheesy Turkey Sandwich, with 740 cal...
thisi channel has a costco obsession
Never been a fan of the mass produced commercial chicken. Not cleaned to my liking, seasoned to my liking, or cooked to my liking.
I stopped buying the Chickens because they had too much salt and water.
Also, organic free range Chickens are better baked. Tasty and no antibiotics or chlorine. Very sad. Costco, do better.
David Chang fueled these rumors about Costco chickens! He is not a fan…
Want to vomit! All these are GMO?!
Probably taste off because they’re using different chickens
Hi narrative friend ❤️❤️❤️
NOTHING is wrong with Costco chickens,,,, We LOVE them.. and at $ 4.99 for a cooked 4 lb meal, BINGO ...No difference in taste at all...
Everyone's sense of taste is different. My wife loves coriander and could eat it by the handful, I think it tastes like soap and is disgusting. So if I was making a video about coriander I would say it was all marinated in hand soap.
mashed should just change their name to "costco news" unsubbed
Heavy fee? Lmao it's $5 a month
Wash with Alcohol.
Chicken taste real nasty: Skin has a definitely a chemical taste. I use to take chicken off the bones to make casseroles and have for sandwiches no more.
Chlorinated meat is an American standard.
What's the problem? They're too amazing?
Do I "smell" an anti-Costco source for this post? Maybe competitors or the chicken industry?
Sam’s chicken ;-; hit just right 5 dollar bird 🦅 long
? ?
That's it comes burned and evenly cooked
Ive stop buying Costco chicken because Everytime i bought one, the middle portion is still not fully cooked. Stay away from this item. 🥵🥵🥵
It is discovered that it is crap 😸
Rumor mongering.
I noticed the disgusting bleach/chemical taste with Costco rotisserie chicken over a year ago. Haven’t bought another one from them since. Used to be a Friday dinner staple before then.
Using Reddit as a source..
Costco suppliers are owned by Costco. They are all exactly the same. New low, Mashed.
anyone else found the meat to be RUBBERY ? 🧐 ☹
This is a video about a reddit thread. You heard me right. Reddit.
these "super" birds have breast meat that is stringy, dry and 0 taste. my local outlet roasts too long, resulting in the thick end of the drum stick being dry and tough - and this is dark meat ! ! Growth enhanced feed for chickens should be stopped !
ESL (punctuation)? Anyway, all Costco chickens are rotated the same number of times.
I'm eating one right now, it's tender and delicious.
sounds like a bunch of nonsense.
It’s nasty.
It's a heath risk. I'm a public health officer in Canada. We see quite a few issues with store bought chicken. Stay away from Costco, Walmart any place that sells roasted chicken.
Ugh it's always been this way for years. I stopped buying 10 years ago. The baked goods are disgusting. I previously bought a cake that they made for my husband's 40th birthday it was mouldy. Their muffins, you have to drink with them, you'll choke otherwise. Don't buy at Costco.
