  • Made by the Arthur Barr organization in 1960, Stagecoach Westward tells the story of the stagecoach and shows how it helped open the West to settlers and "civilization." Arthur Barr started his company in 1937 after working as an audio-visual technician for the Pasadena City Schools. His company was famous for its well-made, if low-budget, educational films. This one is no exception, showing in detail how the stage was operated and making students familiar with the terminology used to describe it.
Portions of this film may have been shot the Calico Ghost Town in California, although we're not 100% sure.

@@peterfahey9088 If our old economics formula is accurate enough & if that fare was correct for the time we figure it out to be $6,750 in today`s $$. A small fortune!

I've been playing too much Fallout. I keep hearing the faint sounds of distant gunfire in the background of the scenes. It's sounds like the Fiends are attacking McCarran again.

How does he feed the horses when there is no grass growing on the road and they also don't bring any supplies of grass?

Clearly Hay & grain had to be brought in on freight wagons to the stations for the operation in dry desert areas.
