  • They both voted thumbs up for Woody Allen's "Broadway Danny Rose", a return to Allen's tradition of straight New York comedy.

My favorite film for Thanksgiving. So sad, so pathetic, so beautiful.

It's not sad. It's bittersweet. Love conquers all.

The big laugh could be the Italian mother
    It could be the helium
Or, perhaps my favorite gag, is when he’s talking to the gangster after he’s been kidnapped and talking about how we all went what we can’t have and the guy yell back would you shut up and look on Woody Allen’s face?
God, I love this movie so much!

A terrific film, the 80s were so prolific for him.

I think it's the helium scene because it's so childish and absurd and absolutely hilarious.

"My son is sensitive. He's a poet. Vendetta!! Lo giuro davanti allá madonna, Johnny, lo giura mamma tua." Woody: "Just tell me, are you an Aries?" LOL

Just a guess, but I think the scene they're talking about is towards the end when the mobster is chasing them and all their voices are high on helium. Probably got a huge laugh in the theater.

“A silly film without any big issues…”. .??
    1. It’s not silly
    2. It’s not without any big issues
The theme of the film, after all the action, is that failure to forgive hurts YOU!
This is a deceptively profound film.

I agree that Broadway Danny Rose is excellent. But one of them mentions A Midsummers Nights Sex Comedy as not being that good. That’s actually one of my favorites. It’s funny with some great one liners, silly but also whimsical and beautifully shot.

Woody Allen (like Saturday Night Live) were at their BEST in the 1980s (especially mid to late 1980s) ! Even though "casual fans" are all "I like the 1970s stuff better".

The only picture I really liked of Woodys. The reason is because if you put Woodys head under a microscope he looks just like a flea. I just can't like pictures who are made by people that look like fleas. I just can't help it. I don't hate fleas but I just don't think fleas are worth much.
