I have a trip to Nepal in the beginning of October, and I bought specifically for this purpose Mavic 3 classic. But after many researches and contact with locals I was shocked and heartbroken to know that people want from $2000 to $6000 to allow me to use my drone, I am enraged by this. This a requirements: 1. Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) ● Drone Registration Application ● Purpose of Operation for Drone ● Photo of drone with serial no ● PP Size photo of Pilot ● Copy of Passport & valid visa ● TIA Custom Declaration of Drone ● $10 + 13% VAT Application is to be applied online & to receive a permit, need to visit the office physically along with the drone. 2. ACAP ● Permit from CAAN ● $1925 + 13% VAT ● Clearance certificate from CDO ● Clearance from the police station 3. Ministry of Home Affairs ● If the drone exceeds the weight of 4kgs ● If have to fly above 200ft
Hi Alex, as you are a foreign citizen you can claim the customs duty when going back to your country within certain days. Please do not forget to ask at the airport customs when you arrive. You must declare the drone yourself by going to customs office at the airport and pay the required money. Please do it as soon as you collect your bag because once you are out of the airport, you cannot go back in and pay it. You should fulfil requirements at CAAN, CDO and local police (home affairs). It is so sad. Despite being a citizen, even I could not fly my drone in Nepal. Good luck.
@@NepaliLifeAustralia Thank for commenting on that. I have so many question, and confusion. I was reading here in the comments that If you take back your drone to your country you not paying customs. Also there is no way I would pay two thousand USD for permits. My drone not cost this much. I could not find any official legal information that they required me to pay anything. But everyone say that it cost this much. Also i was told that even if I will pay, it might take up till 8 days to receive all permit. I simply cannot afford to get there one week earlier just to get permit. What I will do of I will be forced to pay bribes anyway, or not getting nothing, even if its not by the law. And will I be able to bring my drone, and wouldn’t it be confiscated?
@@NepaliLifeAustralia Also what you exactly mean by, “Claim the customs duty when going back to your country”? What are the procedures? I need to pay, then ask money back? I believe that no body will give money back, only take it.
@@alexsidorenko1795 Hello, I am looking forward to visiting Nepal in December and would love to fly drones there in Annapurna region(if it's legal). Can you please share what was your experience wrt drone flying from the recent trip? Did you get the permission or not?
Attention foreign nationals and Non-resident Nepalese (NRN) with foreign passport! There may be more requirements for you to fulfill in addition to those mentioned in this video.

Hi, you can take it to Nepal. Tax I suppose, it is 10% to 13% of the purchase price. Also, take your invoice with you. If you don’t have invoice, chat online with DJI and they will email you the invoice. Go to customs office pay as soon as you land there, before coming out of the airport. Good luck!
Additional Information: Drones that are more than 2 Kilograms when flying, must have permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) Nepal, in addition to the District Administration Office (CDO).
