Chinese noodles are said to be the best in the north of China, but I've found some amazing noodles here in Sichuan, in Southern China. In Sichuan province, there is a large variety of different noodles to try. One of my favourite, even more so than the internationally famous Dan Dan noodles (dan dan mian 担担面) is the mixed sauce noodles with cowpeas, the jiangdoumian 豇豆面， they are top notch. Some of them are like Chinese street food, while others are in restaurants. Most of them are good.

I found this place in Chengdu after biking around one night in search of the best noodles with a hungry stomach. I love watching the local Chinese cooking and getting to taste the noodles afterwards brings so much joy. Chinese cuisine is so diverse, and noodles are one of the staples. Each recipe is different, and in Chengdu, Sichuan, I've come to love noodles more than rice or even many of the stir fried dishes. There is beef noodle soup, dan dan noodles, dry chili paste mixed sauce noodles, spare rib noodles, sweet potato noodles with intestine, and a lot of them are really spicy. There are also many hand pulled noodle joints and blade-sheared noodles as well.

You can find food like these in some parts of america, but its very localized to big cities.
For sanitation reasons we don't have out door food stall like then.

Wow. I've seen probably 50 of your vids if not more, this dish by far looks the best yet. Just absolutely gorgeous. Just about died when you rolled over the noodles to reveal that perfect amount of chili oil.

I've watched most of your videos and will certainly visit Chengdu at some point, mainly because of the food. One of my close friends who studies here in Europe is from Chengdu and have always told me to visit him in Chengdu during the summer, which I certainly will.
He always mentioned the food in Sichuan to be the best in China, which I thought was a little biased mainly because I had no knowledge about their cuisine. But after having watched your videos, I certainly agree! The variety and deliciousness of the Sichuan cuisine have really astonished me. Your videos have put Chengdu above the more famous and touristic cities such as Shanghai and Beijing, at least for me.

The thing is with Chinese food in the US, you really need to live in city to get real good cuisine like NYC Flushing Queens, Boston, Chicago, or SF. I miss the chinese eating streets.

I love these oyster mushroom and water chestnut steamed dumplings from a restaurant in the city - What do you recommend I can eat in China? I know most everything is meat, so I will settle for vegetarian. What are some things I should try in Shanghai?
Hi I'm from Shanghai and there's a really nice place called Wangjiasha 王家沙 where you can buy snacks 点心. Highly recommend xiekehuang 蟹壳黄! Also there's a really nice place that sells vegetarian food only. It's called zaozishu 枣子树. Hope this helps!

Ocicat101 im chinese. there are many vegetarian restaurants in China. you know as for Tofu we have more than 20 ways to cook it. the food in video is sauce noodles without any meat. if you dont want any mean you just tell shoper that you dont want any meat and it will be more cheaper

Its crazy with China having a billion ppl living there they eat like KINGS with cheap prices. BUT here in Canada especially Toronto everything is expensive and its nothing but Mc Donalds, Wendys, just fast food joints like every mile.

Trevor! The trick to mixing it is using one chop stick in each hand. You pretty much run through the noodles, drag it upwards and it'll mix much easier. Then you can get to eating faster too.
