Glad you liked this one! One of Shakira’s musical trademarks is bringing in Middle Eastern flavors to many of her songs, but Ojos Así is definitely her ultimate tribute to her half-Lebanese heritage, and it even features some Arabic lyrics.
Here are some other facts about the song that might be helpful:
1. This song was actually the first time Shakira brought her now-signature bellydancing into her career. She was very rock-focused before this song, but ultimately, Ojos Así in 1999 would be foreshadowing for her bellydance-focused crossover with Whenever, Wherever in 2001. This performance was from 2003, the opening number of her first world tour after her crossover success.
2. If you check out the music video for the song from 1999, you’ll hear the “Single Version”, which is a bit more electronic than the actual album version from 1998 (which is a bit heavier on the Middle Eastern influence, but still more electronic than the live version you just saw). That said, as you noticed, the live version takes the song’s Middle Eastern vibes to a whole other (and more organic) level. The 2006 tour version even starts with a classic Egyptian song as an intro.

Me dio la curiosidad por su nombre verdadero y busqué por el wikipedia, y realmente se llamaba Shakira! y fue wow explosión cerebral! (Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) pensé que ese era solamente su nombre artístico, no sabía, y más me llamó la atención el enterarme que su padre era de origen libanés, por eso el nombre y el apellido árabe. Es maravilloso el descubrir cada día como se van mezclando cada vez más las culturas, países, colores. Ver un pedacito de cada parte del mundo en cada persona.
Adelante con el español! Es un idioma hermoso con una literatura que no tiene fin. Vale la pena saberlo para conocer la vasta y diferente cultura de todos los pueblos que lo comparten.

Some random background because I'm from Chile and I can, she participated in 1993's version of the festival of Viña del Mar, which is probably one of the most prestigious song festivals within Latinamerica where the international competition used to be probably the most important part of it, and she competed there and she was SO DAMN popular right away, though she got the third place back then, she won our hearts and remains a beloved artist here, and Chile remains in her memory as well

This song is mostly a fusion with arabic sounds (or indian, I don't know), but when you say "it is like tradicional music" the music is doing a fusion with tango. In particular it sounds like an argentinian tango. I was born in Argentina but raised in Uruguay. That part touches my 心 ☺️ very profound and intimate, you can feel it in her face... Wow... I know you don't want to know about it, but I believe she wrote that song for her argentinian boyfriend 😝😅 I see this and remember such an artist she is!! Saludos desde latino américa amigo! 😁👍🏼
