  • @MARAASIM
    @MARAASIM 13 дней назад +2

    Great comparison! Personally, I find Avenger's UI a bit cluttered, with too much unnecessary stuff on the screen. On the other hand, I really like Nexus for its clean design and potential. However, it's still lacking in the effects department. If they were to implement a proper unison voicing system and a wavetable editor, Nexus could become a strong contender to Phase Plant.

    • @ViRiXDreamcore
      @ViRiXDreamcore  13 дней назад

      @@MARAASIM agreed. The part I ended up cutting had a section where I was trying to have duel voicings on the piano part of the preset i was making around 25:00. But I was unable to do it.
      Nexus’s preset workflow isn’t as up to par yet and bouncing around pages can make things tricky sometimes.

    • @4EV-ER
      @4EV-ER 11 дней назад +1

      @MARAASIM Nexus can have practically unlimited oscs so maybe that makes up for it, don't know yet. Seems capable but couldn't justify having both for now. Got Avenger because of the great quality expansions it has, but keeping eye on nexus too, already having too many good synths at the moment so don't need just another "workhorse". But will keep an eye on it, I like some of the fx it has like the particle.

    • @ViRiXDreamcore
      @ViRiXDreamcore  11 дней назад +1

      @@4EV-ER Yeah the particle effect does sound really good. I'll have to experiment more with the OSCs and see how crazy we can get... But they have got to fix the preset loading bug first.

    • @4EV-ER
      @4EV-ER 11 дней назад

      @ yeah i saw one video (cant remember the link) where someone tried it and it was some silly amount, not sure how efficient that is though. Personally I like the Unison in Vital best, it has really good control. The oscs are a bit limited though, but still good for most things, for a "free" Synth it's a must have.

    Thanks for asking this question because I thought I was the only one and was wondering what I missed. I thought they are both the same people behind the scenes and maybe sharing the synth engine so what’s the point now that Nexus 5 lets you mess with it

    Thank you - great comparison :-) I think it's the best to simply use the two workhorses for efficient arranging. I think, for sculpting synths and hybrid sounds Nexus 5 can be very intuitive. I seriously would use Avenger 2 als as midi player - with midi out of its ingenious arpeggiator. And for beats I would use the new Triaz VST by Waves Alchemy, or the new Patter Sequencer of Cubase 14, or Microtonic, Superior Drummer or sometimes the good old Stylus etc. etc. We have so much now 🙂

    • @ViRiXDreamcore
      @ViRiXDreamcore  13 дней назад +1

      @@Syngularity Yes! Nexus’s sampler is really good when working with tonal sounds. I always called on Nexus (even in 2 and 4) when it came to “filler sounds” that sounded good.
      I do wish it had more sampling tools like a granulizer or something.
      I love Stylus and still use but ill check out those other drum sequencers.
      Avenger’s drum sequencer is great but having varying patterns would be nice.
      MIDI outs or having layers on multiple MIDI channels woukd be super useful.

    • @ViRiXDreamcore
      @ViRiXDreamcore  11 дней назад

      So I haven't gotten a chance to try that. I have Analog Lab V which takes a bit to load, but sounds really good. I'll have to try that one out. I've also been messing with Phase Plant, but the way they have their UI set up messes with the magnifier a lot which makes i tricky to use.
      I think Pigments is rent-to-own. I may take a look as I hear it has some good sounds.

      @4EV-ER 11 дней назад +1

      @@ViRiXDreamcoreI have pigments and I think it has some expansions shop but havent really tried them. I don't think the stock presets are nearly as good as Avenger for example. But the synth engines and UI are good, and so are the FX.

      Thanks for the suggestion....
      I say in the description that the manual doesn't have this information in it. Go ahead.
      refx.com/nexus/manual/
      Search "Sampler" in the manual and you will find only a small mention of it. Better yet, search "slice" and you will find no mention of it.
      That being said, do you have a link to the full manual for Nexus 5 specifically? I was unable to find it just by searching. So I will happily read it if one's available.
      And this still doesn't account for user-created presets failing to load; which is one of the key features of this update.

    I have a question I have the Nexus 4 and now I just recently got the Nexus 5 can I just drag The Sound Library from Nexus 4 into Nexus 5 and then delete Nexus 4 and be able to play all the Nexus 4 sounds through Nexus 5 and if so how would I do that exactly?

    • @ViRiXDreamcore
      @ViRiXDreamcore  10 дней назад

      I had Nexus 4 as well. When you upgrade to Nexus 5, it automatically replaces Nexus 4, so whenever you open a project that had Nexus 4, it will now be using Nexus 5. All of the presets automatically come over from Nexus 4.
      Keep in mind though... IF you are using the VST2 version of Nexus 4 in your songs, you may want to take note of the presets you're using, because in some DAWs like Cubase 14, they only allow VST3 plugins which will cause Nexus to reset itself when you first load a project that was using the VST2 version of Nexus 4. Because that will upgrade to a VST3 version of Nexus 5.

      I think Avenger is actually more, and the expansions work pretty much the same way, but are easier to customize in Avenger. But yeah, you really can go pretty far with Avenger and Phase Plant. I've always used Nexus as a "quick fix" type of thing when I want something good, fast. (Although Avenger kinda handles that.)
