This video was very info informational I enjoyed the brief history about Gin now I understand why the Queen loves it other than the health benefits and anti aging benefits that come with it
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 yes I am, I'm in California. I've watched a few of ur vids, they're very informing. And in my area I can find beefeater, tanqueray, Bombay, Hendricks, and something called potters

Gin was a popular thing in America in the early 20th century. But by the end of the century it lost it’s favor. It’s more popular now but at the same time a lot of people still don’t drink it. Personally I’m the only person I know that drinks it.
Im from the US, and I can remember my dad drinking gin and tonic when I was a kid. I also like gin, but I prefer bourbon. I would say right now in the US whiskey is the most popular liquor, since people understand it better now.
Adam M. Daly Thanks Adam! I wanted to try something a bit different but I was a bit worried that it might be boring and a bit too much like a school lesson so I really appreciate the positive feedback mate. 😊😊👍👍
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 If only they taught about gin in schools! 😂 I must try some old tom. Is it unmistakably different? or is the difference similar to that between brands on London dry?
Adam M. Daly I think they should put it on the national curriculum! I gave some to a friend last week who is not hugely in to gin and even he could taste the difference. It’s not massive but definitely unmistakable, especially if you drink london dry regularly. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on it. The Hayman’s is a particularly good example and very reasonably priced too 👍
Haha, I’m from Holland and you couldn’t be racist to me even if you tried. I’m proud of my heritage and wouldn’t want to hide anything of our history! It is part of who we are, the good and the bad things we’ve done cannot be said too often. Reminds us of our mistakes and our achievements which both are a positive! And to be honest, try a joint on the beach with a proper gin&tonic and you will most likely be very content.
@@nononsensegindrinking5152 I'm new to the channel, but I love how often you answer user questions. I know sloe berries were plentiful in the UK and were often used in home made Gin, but what I'm trying to figure out is how it went from a high ABV, low sugar style to the opposite. If sugar was so hard to come by and the Brits liked their gin boozy, why do you think we often see it at 25% ABV and 300g of sugar per Litre or higher?
Do you remember your first experience liking gin? I remember the first time I tasted it I thought it was disgusting. Took me a while but I think it might be my favorite spirit now.
Peter Woolery Hi Peter and thanks very much for your kind words. It’s funny you should mention that as I am already planning a tonic comparison video. At the moment I’m planning to feature Fever Tree, Fentimans and Schweppes. Do you have any suggestions for any more?
Constructive criticism. Automatically I felt judged being a drunk and was turned off. Sry I didn’t connect. I hope I come back for help. But after a state I didn’t feel connected

If your interested in learning more about Spirits as a whole, really good book called The Complete Book of Spirits by Anthony Dias Blue if you haven't read it. Ebay UK
Or if you're after Gin specific books, there's plenty others out there too. Specifically these ones focus on more than just recipes. 1. Gin: The Manual (Dave Broom) 2. The Book of Gin (Barnett) 3. The Gin Dictionary
This was a fantastic video, love the way you told this story, as if you lived through these nearly 300 years 😉

Hi I noticed that out of all the bottles there’s no Gordon’s I was wondering why
Do you not like it .My favourite Tanqueray
Hi Peter
You’re right! Gordon’s probably my least favourite gin. You clearly have great taste 👍
Do you remember your first experience liking gin? I remember the first time I tasted it I thought it was disgusting. Took me a while but I think it might be my favorite spirit now.
Yes I was the same. I wasn’t too sure to start with but it soon grew on me 😊
Isn't that the response to every new spirit? lol
Love this video.. really smashing
Thanks Burke!! 👍👍
I enjoyed the history and anecdotes about tom cat, etc.
Some day you should do something similar for tonic. And some tonic reviews for that matter.
Peter Woolery

Jenever
What are the main ingredients of gin?
Handgesture is not only an italian tradition. Anyway i thought that gin has been made by south italian monks.

7:05 so people would drink Gin through a glory hole? 😅😅😅
😂😂 I think I would prefer gin rather than the alternative !! 😂😂
Glorious revolution , dutch royal loves genever , brits like it cant make it and come up with a cheap coppy . the end.
The Spaniards love their Gin

.hope the cnn people will grab you up...
Gin was cheap and potent and the Crack cocaine of that day. Parliament passed the riot act to put down the Gin craved mobs wreaking havoc.
Gin tastes weird to me. Like a perfumey taste
