So aside from me sensing our girl's presence throughout this video, it is just a lovely video all around. The song is such a good choice. The most beautiful thing about Ats is the emphasis on redemption/mercy/sanctuary. It's so largely about misfits finding their place and lost souls finding their way back. Honestly, that would be the first thing I would tell people to encourage them to watch it, because not enough shows stress those points in their story, and IMO that IS what good storytelling should be! So yeah, right from the start you had me with this one. "You had me at hello" lol sorry... The way you started out with Angel embracing these outcasts and bringing them into the family they were creating is just so sweet. To think at the beginning of btvs, Angel didn't actually know what it meant to be a friend and then he formed these amazing friendships...Ugh the feels! Oh and I already mentioned this to you, but I love that you included so much of Anne in this. I just love how strong she became, and the fact that she was a kid living on the streets who grew to be a person who helped homeless kids find a "sanctuary". /cries/ I also loved that you used that Gunn/Gwen scene for "you see my hurt", because she really saw the pain he was living with, not feeling smart enough to contribute more than "muscle" which...there is a certain place I put a lot of the blame for those feelings of his...I won't get into that here, but yeah...you know. lol xD Oh and I liked the Lindsey moment for "you feel that shame" I always saw Lindsey as having a conscience. I know they went back and forth with him, but I wasn't too happy with the way they wrote him in season 5 (shocking since that season was filled with stellar writing lmao :p) because he was definitely not a one note character, and I liked the place he and Angel got to at the end of season 2. Aaaww I love that "you're not alone" Cangel parallel!!! This sounds dirty as I type it, but I also enjoy all of the moments of the characters touching each other...lol I just mean that you included so many scenes of them comforting one another or literally catching each other as they fall. The physical connection between the characters...it's like we can feel the hugs and the gentle support through the screen! Basically, this video gives me the warm and fuzzy feels!! It's so tender and moving! I love it!
I LOVE the way Angel embraces people into the team, the beginning is actually one of my fav parts of this vid so I'm happy you pointed it out LOL. He takes in these people who are clearly struggling in their lives but he does it in a way that doesn't make it seem pitying or like charity. PURE CLASS!! lmao. Sanctuary is the title of the theme in some of the DVD's. I know this because I've seen them a dozen times or more. Also I am looking at the actual series right now. Have we progressed beyond the "yer wrong and shit, no real fan" bullcrap. The best thing about ATS: the lessons aren't always clear and well defined. I've known a group of people, each one revealing a different theme and lesson from the same episode (the ballet one with Summer Glau was a ballerina repeating the same exact same show in a time loop for over one hundred years. Can't imagine a more horrifying fate than that for any artist. Also has my favorite line of the show hands down, "Oh wow, the last time I caught tickets to this ballet it was so beautiful that I cried. And I was EVIL!"
My most favourite thing about ATS is the friendship between the characters and this video captured that perfectly! Well done!
