too bad we'll never get to see the 7 hour long livestream of John and Tony trying to break open the wada case with their bare hands, would have been prime time entertainment

Vatt?
I absolutely want to see the sealed prototype cracked open, that would be 10/10
John lookin' like he's about to put some dinosaur Embryos in a can of Barbasol
3:25 Thats one spicy pixel character :))
One of those most heartbreaking things I ever saw was someone doing a live stream where he went through boxes in an old programmer's attic, and he started pulling out NES and GameBoy prototypes with non-shielded EPROMS and (I kid you not) HOLDING THEM UP TO THE LIGHT TO SHOW THEM OFF. People were screaming at him in the chat to put masking tape over those EPROMS but he was too busy gloating to care.
I’m glad that the new owner of the WATA sealed game wants to do the right thing and preserve it. We need more people like that in the community
WATA means nothing. It does not matter to open it.
It was the person who bought it from the hoarder and sent it along to this channel. The original hoarder gets no credit :)
@@common_c3nts yeah we all know and agree WATA is worthless. The point is, it's a prototype of a beloved game that was going to be lost to history. It matters opening it, it matters dumping it.
I will hope this is sarcasm and laugh at this joke!
(WATA is a cancer in the gaming industry!)
Did both of you guys fail English ? Your reading comprehension is awful. Re read what he said. If I was your English teacher you'd both be receiving F's.
Really wish you guys got more recognition. Your content's (usually) pretty interesting and it's baffling how some of this stuff hasn't exactly blown up
That dig on the "dragons" was great lol
That is a great cliffhanger!
Looking forward to your next video on Empire.
WATA is evil - crack that case!
The Scotland flag is wrong in World Class Soccer, not sure if it's like that in the final version lol
6:16 And the cross on the Swedish flag has green outlines for some reason. And the Danish one has oranges ones. And the Swiss cross too. And the Canadian maple leaf looks more like a janky flower. Yeah, these flags look funny.
The copyright symbol had some complex rules in US laws; they mostly ended in 1989, but prior to that, a "c 1988 Game Company" could be legally deficient and result in losing copyright that a proper copyright symbol could have protected.
Did you guys see that Doshin the Giant prototype that went on ebay a few weeks ago? Do yall know anything about that?
These are amazing finds. And yeah, I don't get what the deal with collectors is, the whole idea of "losing money" by sharing the rom sounds weird to me. There are high quality scans of the Mona Lisa and there have been accurate reproductions of that famous painting, yet the OG Mona Lisa is still worth Millions of dollars. By their logic, the original painting should be 'completely worthless' now because a reproduction exists out there. Dumping a rom doesn't (or shouldn't) devalue the OG cartridge. So it's basically just a hoarder thing: "I have this and you don't! Har-har!"
“Crack that case” (Devo voice)
2:15 I love those NCL official prototype cart labels. They look so swag.
7:06 just love the uninterrupted sass for a straight minute
Cool, Love all the unreleased content. Never understood the Wata nuts but glad to see you are going to set a game free :)
Huh. That Stargate cart has an Itochu branding, they were the company that distributed Nintendo products in Mexico - and were also involved with Club Nintendo Mexico (the national Nintendo magazine.) I wonder if this is the same build that was reviewed in one of their issues.
Y'all are the absolute best, I can't wait to see the broken case and what you extract from the cartridge
Wooow i remember playing Super Battle Tank 2, Stargate, and Super Empire Strikes Back waaay back in 96, when my bros werent playing Zelda, Final Fantasy 6, Secret of Mana, or Mario RPG lol
Film the whole thing, opening the WATA box and the dumping of the room, we want to see the whole process.
I can’t wait to see that wata box cracked open
Oh shit You guys know Snesei?
Can't say I'm too shocked but that's pretty sweet. Met him at Maker's Faire over at the Henry Ford back in 2012. The entire performance by Piko Piko Detroit was pretty sweet but Snesei's set was by far my favorite, he even signed one of his CD's for me. Cool dude.
Think I have his Mii in my old 3DS, they streetpassed IIRC. Gotta dig it out.
preserving history one cart at a time. you guys rock.
That's not Stargate.
Stargate is the sequel to Defender.
That's Stargate: The Movie: The Game
Yes please. More videos for all the games, love seeing the comparisons.
Seems like most of the prototype games you find are pretty far along in development or basically finished. Were these cartridges ever used for development purposes or were they mainly just created to send out to reviewers shortly before release?
Thanks for sharing about these prototypes. The next episode's going to be great!
Nice it's John and Tony time! I love undumped games thanks for saving them
Are we ever going to get any prototypes of Secret of mana?
I'd love to. The supposed SNES CD version of Secret of Mana is one of my holy grails....
Based if found @@hard4games
No.... The only prototypes we'll ever get are of shitty 3rd party shovelware garbage. Either that or prototypes of Sega games.
@@thardump859 I have some rare unreleased RPG games but I don't want to share them because I hate humans
@@thardump859 I even have a prototype of Pokémon red
The idea of sealed games go's against the entire purpose of it being a game... TO BE PLAYED! Collectors like that anger me. Its not a show piece, play it or pass it along to someone else who will.
I would love it so much that you check all the differences in the Stargate Game. Thank you
☠️
@@hard4games What?, I don't want to be the one suffering through this... I'd much prefer to watch your pain than experience it for myself! 🤣
There are a few videos with an earlier batman returns version with a different hud and probably a few changes
Ah yes Worm the prequel to Worms
Would be curious to know how much the Star Wars prototype wound up costing the buyer who sent it in..
If hoarding unreleased carts/roms like a dragon were akin to being a Tolkien baddie, Chris Stamper is Morgoth. He dropped a vid on Twitter of himself booting up Twelve Tales Conker 64 on hardware. He's done that with other such titles.
Wow, it's been a while since we've been blessed with John's presence!
That Scotland flag was looking kinda weird in that fitba game 😅 🏴
Thank you sir that sent games.
John is bringing the 80s back!
Only reason why should dumb em should be keep only for the owner
huh don't think I've heard of mad champ but sounds really interesting, basically anime road rash? and even if it's just star wars, hats off to freeing that one from its WATA prison to share with the rest of the gaming populace! I'm also disgusted at the ROM hoarder types, not gonna lie.
Wow a prototype Star Wars game super nice
Best channel
Tony from The Muppets, and John from The Office
Don't waste your time cracking open a cold one yet, crack open a wata sealed game first, then the cold one will taste... colder, so better.
Still holdin' out hope for Impossible Mission 2025.
where this guys share the roms dump?
Codebound
Can't wait for Tony to play Stargate
Damn, still no Ultimate Journey or Shogun Maeda.
You are the heroes of the canceled lost games.
Wow, yes
...Why is it with these prototypes the chips are sticking out of the cartridge shell? O.o
They use sockets so the chips can be easily swapped. Sockets make it so they cannot fit in the original case.
The fridaynight is saved again
Smashy smashy!
Set the games free ! :)
I doubt these guys are going to get their hands on the Nintendo 64 prototype of panel de pon because the guy who has it is being a stuck-up a****** with the cartridge and he refuses to dump it online even when people offered him money
That one's a long shot. 🥺
@@hard4games I don't know why he's being so greedy with it he can easily make money if he let somebody rent the cartridge and upload the ROM on the internet cuz once that cartridge is destroyed that game is gone forever
cool
I really like the shirt of the cute guy on the right. Slay
To destroy all rated games like that ✊🏻
Systematic WATA destruction.
"Theyre so hard!"
for games? 😎
Im still hungry for bananas 🍌
What is the rarest nes prototype?
The one(s) we haven't found yet.
bio force ape?
Magical kid indy
What's the most interesting one for nes? Definitely not that game, for me it's another one, a Rpg game about gods which was in development but got cancelled because of multiple reasons one because the mechanic was "too complex to understand". I forgot the name though.
And my most wanted cancelled RPG games are eternal chain and dragon's heaven
Pug of Destiny (NES, 1991).
Dump & share the ROMs! As soon as you can.
The owner is gonna release via codebound.
-I’m better than you. I preserve games by buying physicals, I even have unreleased games with just one copy.
-Really? How do you preserve them?
-I encase them so they won’t ever be touched. Do that with digital!!
-Well, I make back ups often, if my console breaks and the servers go down, all I need is a hack or an emulator to play again. What happens if those carts and discs break? Did you dump them so you can play them again? Did you even play or test them?
-Why, no. But is preserved.
-Sure. “Preserved”.
you guys are heroes for breaking that fucking graded prototype open and dumping it. Fuck collectors.
Torrent the rom. Make rom cartridges out of the prototypes. I don't care. Lol..
So a friend of your Show sent you These Prototypes and you Even do Not SAY his Name?!? How greedy Are you??
His name is on-screen.
@@hard4games thats Right. But you could also SAY his Name in Order of Respect for sending his Prototyps.
He retreated from the internet for a while. I didn't say it out of respect. As it turns out, he's okay now with us saying it, so i added the text. Why are you picking a fight over nothing? 🙃
@@hard4games Oh, sorry. I didn't know that. I've often seen RUclipsrs who received great gifts from their viewers and then just listlessly display the username in the video
@@willianderuberkater3526 i think you need to take a break from the Internet
5:03 wow, this is interesting, ITOCHU was the official authorized dealer of nintendo in Mexico in the 90's until the early 2000s
Hahah you guys seem to love the modern hand-holding stuff... Might want to delve into more retro games before giving your opinion on whats "hard"...? Haha just saying... Awesome video tho, hope you will upload these ROMs to the web no matter if you think its the final version or not.. Small byte differences might mean more than you think..
dump them
Absolutely! Will be released too!
1:20 Sorry Americans, but who got an ugly SNES a Megadrive that needed a new Name :)
Preserving is the new word for pirating...
No. They don’t make money by selling the copyrighted material. Piracy is piracy, sharing is not piracy.
This was a great video till you guys started giving lip service to WATA. A slabbed cart from that business MEANS NOTHING! The whole section where you were trying to make it sound special just made you sound like clowns.
Did you not realize we were insulting them? Did you not pick up on the sarcasm?
