I collect antique books and was so excited to just get one that had mention of John Wesley as I have always admired and respected him. It was written in 1811 and has a copy of a letter from the 1700s to John Wesley in it -- (not a nice letter but calling him out) The book is The Doctrine of Absolute Predestination--- the letter is from Augustus Toplady--- Augustus printed a tract to share information with people and John took that track and had it reprinted and changed the words in it and left Augustus name on it

I was prepared to be upset about you getting into politics....but I agree to a point. with your sermon. Jesus said plainly to his inquisitors, "My kingdom is not of this world" and "Render unto Ceasar, what is Ceasar's." Literally Jesus is not part of worldly government. Yes, for each one of us are guided by our faith, our interpretation of our religion and beliefs or lack thereof- not by by the force of law and the coercion of government.
I am dismayed and disappointed by the degradation of morals, ethics. We are vulgar, hypocritical, completely immersed in satisfying desires of our flesh. But, these are the choices of the heart. The point of a sword, or legislation pushed by a religious group won't change hearts > That's where JESUS' MISSION IS. That's where our faith comes from, and if it's in the hearts of our leaders, that's where it belongs to guide them, not to be FORCED on others.
Think of all the times that religion and it's rituals and laws were forced on folks: The Pharisees who actually crucified our Savior, The Spanish Inquisition torturing people who they SUSPECTED of violating the Churches authority, The "witch" burnings that led to judicial executions; the persecution of Galileo for his "blasphemy" of saying that the Earth is not the center of the universe; Americans in the South justifying the enslavement of, and cruelty towards Blacks as biblically legitimate. This is what happens when we combine Church and State. One compromises and corrupts the other.
The LAWS OF GOD are for the populace to embody from their own personal choice, not because authorities say, "..or else."
Christian Nationalism is an identity movement that doesn't even follow Christ's commands, such as "...turn the other cheek" and, in fact, does advocate violence in pursuit of their goals (count up their guns!). They ignore that Jesus NEVER, not once by word or deed advocated armed rebellion or violence to further his message and spread faith. That's what is unique and has perpetuated the spread of the the Gospel for two thousand years across the face of the Earth- because humanity wants and needs to hear it. The Gospel and our faith requires that we accept it, willingly (White) Christian Nationalism will never accomplish that. The Holy Spirit doesn't come from the barrel of a gun or the dictates of a large group of people.
