  • During the Casella presentation to the Town of Dalton Selectboard, Casella VP Brian Oliver, when asked where that facility may be located, his response was "we don't know right now".
Part of the pitch for the proposed landfill in Dalton and Bethlehem, next to Forest Lake and the state park, a "quid pro quo" to the State of NH and the permitting agencies, has been this dangling of the construction of a MRF, or "Materials Recycling Facility".
Considering the fact that Casella is entering year 6 in trying to obtain permitting for their controversial, unwanted, and unneeded landfill project, you would think this company would have the location of their fictional MRF identified. Then again, which large community in NH is going to want to be home to Casella's MRF, where "single stream" recyclables are brought for sorting and transport? Odor issues, fires, rodents seem to plague these facilities, so perhaps that is why Casella appears to have not even attempted to site one in NH, to date.
Once again, Casella saying and doing everything they can to get a foot in the door, in my opinion.
