These great TV documentaries are helping us realize how a certain environment is capable to pull out the genius nature from a composer, the education, the ambition, the society's huge interest for music and for visionary composers. Trying to explore the. . .human DNA secrets on generating genius artists...fans, try to guess how many more times we have to watch such documentaries. How many more mysteries to find out. Listening a professional actor comments brings me right away to the British biggest investigator, what about next time we Watch such music stars with Sherlock Holmes eyes instead?

Damn, to compose cantatas every week for Sunday services in four churches, Bach was a very busy man.
It must have been tiring and stressful for him too.

Also before the days of recorded music, selling publish sheet music was really the only way composers could make money and that’s why music publishing was so important

Perspective,... it would be good to get the Closed Captions corrected to match the script. I'm quite sure You mean Köthen at 2:58 not curtin. Hard to learn from a video when You are not sure what is being said. .... more at 6:51 the healing BALM of the great CHORALES.

I appreciate Sir Simon Callow, however what has the background music from 8:00 to do with Bach? Do I hear there a vague echo of Bach´s first Prelude in C major from the first Book of the Well-tempered Clavier? And really, what has Leipzig to do with the happiest years of Bach´s life? Supposedly, JSB spent his happiest years at the court of Anhalt-Cöthen where he enjoyed the freedom to compose most of his grand instrumental orchestra music

    • @ColinWrubleski-eq5sh

Leipzig-?? No, i think JSB felt rather oppressed by all his duties there, including teaching Latin to incorrigible high school boys. (!) And the sufficiently musical folk who were able to cover the instrumental parts in the cantatas necessarily removed them from the choir(s). The lack of resources regularly frustrated the composer no end...
By contrast, the narrator himself says that the 6 years in Cothen were the happiest time for JSB in his life.

@bluesswice1981 ... It is a piece by a classical composer, it has nothing to do with JSB but was chosen as a jingle for this series ...

I usually love the productions put on by Perspective, but this is like watching paint dry, the narrator sounds absolutely lifeless.
I was only able to make it 11 min in, keep in mind I’m melophile.

Do you really believe Sherlock Holmes had no interest for classical composers at all? During Bach ages they were all having fun traveling abroad mostly by boat, so many ugly stories happened of so many ...import-export dealers, what about giving Sherlock Holmes more imaginary cases to be solved using these locations as best movie sets? What are we doing here in web connection if not spending multi billionaire tycoons money? Let's give them smart tips for strategic investiments, we have web distribution by now, three billion potential customers, crime cases are always the most intrigui spicy stories requested, let's get it straight how many unsolved cases those ages, let's get in business fans, One of my dearest ambitions using the web connection is creating jobs, projects to work on Sir Simon might be a perfect Sherlock Holmes investigator, dating Bach for real. ..and not only him of course

  • @rozalinapiano

😢 Wow The first words about Leipzig being the happiest place for Bach are a paradoxically distortive lie about struggling musician, ho begged his childhood friend Georg Erdmann to find him ANY kind of job, in order to escape hostility he suffered in this town. And rest of this video deliberately projects similar distortion, condoning the crime against humanity in the form of abusing musicians and devaluing music as the tool for elevating individual and collective consciousness
