      Quico is spot on, I'm not sure about Chavo. I'd say is more a problem about writing than actor, Chavo here is a bit too proactive, a bit malicious. The original Chavo ends up messing with people out of stupidity and clumsiness rather than malice.

      @vanessahobbes3072I would look at it like it’s one of those silly English dubs we get from old shows from other countries. Where the mannerisms and stuff are obviously funny in the context of the culture it’s from, but kind of silly to Americans. I also think the original show is super old so the humor is different and it’s mainly really charming.

      El "Chavo del ocho" reruns (as well as Chespirito's other hit show, Chapulín Colorado) played on local tv for many years. Not sure if they still do, but I was born in 84 and grew up watching both of those shows. Pretty sure we all did and not just Puerto Ricans, but every Latin American person around my age or a bit older/younger is familiar. Even Brazilians watched it dubbed in Portuguese.

      The thing that boggles me the most is that "Chaves" (In Brazil) is so old and has very few episodes, yet it's been on Television for over 50 years. Not exactly the plot of every episode, but a very ok-ish approximation of the overall tone. Especially for being played by mostly actors who I bet had never heard of _El chavo del ocho_ until a week before they started getting ready for the episode. I also wonder why they didn't have Mikey Day play Don Ramón; Day has the wiry frame that Ramón Valdez (RIP) had .

Maybe they could try a diferent situation. El chavo doing that to la chilindrina is not that typical that seems more like something la chilindrina would to to el chavo jajajaja and also that el chavo doesn't have a Mother. But I really enjoyed this so much. Loved it.

    El chavo was an orphan, he was always hungry, and had very good friends in the neighborhood, none of the characters had both parents, the humor was white, there was no malice or bad intentions, but things used to always spin out of control in a funny way . That show was a comedy masterpiece, beloved by millions, kids and adults, even grandparents. The whole family laughing watching it was and is, something normal in Latin America. The show is still aired after more than 50 years, but most of us watch it on youtube if we want to have a laugh and forget our problems from time to time.

      @arialee1008 5 months ago +8

      Nah Benito was the best. Sarah seemed like she was playing Dora the explorer. Chilindrina was a smart-aleck and she didn't capture that part of her character at all.

      Not even a lil bit 🤣 this is literally how someone who just watched 1 episode and didn’t understand Spanish would try to explain the show to somebody else 🤣 Benito was the only one who gave the character the Respect it deserved. Clearly the only one who’s watched it and knew what it represented 🇲🇽 actually Production Nailed it too w Costumes and stage but everyone else just looked like some Randoms filming a Porn parody w that acting. 🤦🏻‍♂️

      I remember trying to get into a movie theater to watch Patrullero 777 Cantinflas or El Santo movie, if you ask, many puerto ricans agreed that Cantinflas and Roberto Gomez Bolaños were the greatest comedians and producers of all time.
      And for wrestling fans, our favorites were always and will be Santo, Blue Demon and Mil Mascaras....no doubt about it...singers, soup operas and the list goes on...

      Right? Like they were doing so well until they missed the most important key of the lore. El Chavo is homeless. Though in an episode or two, he denies that and says he lives in apartment 8. Hence the name. But yeah.
