If I'm honest, a couple years ago, I didn't really like the idea of Transgender, but now after experiencing college, and meeting transgenders, and hearing their stories, I can honestly say they're some of the nicest people I've ever met. It would have been more interesting to ask how Kim is going to explain it to her daughter or how she deals with people that aren't okay with this situation. It wasn't inappropriate. It's not like Ellen has a problem with Catiyn's sexuality. I think that question is completely out of curiosity, And probably this question was on a a lot of people's mind.

Kim is completely right, our role is not to judge (or even question) what Caitlyn is doing. It's weird how somehow it's acceptable to ask someone who's homosexual or transgender (basically anything other than heterosexual) about their sexual lives, when we would never ask someone we assumed was heterosexual such an intimate question, unless we were extremely close friends or something. Just bizarre how we equate our wanting to understand something to being entitled to know intimate details about another person's life.

Sean C Of course! :) By no means am I trying to say what you should do in that situation, and your approach is probably right at this point in time. Tolerance and kindness are always the way to go no matter what. Nonetheless, I think it's good to think about these things as they come up and try to improve ourselves. Maybe one day we will grow accustomed to people's sexual freedom and learn to respect people's privacy as well.
This really changed my view on Kim Kardashian. She's actually smart and really forward thinking. I had only listened all the hate towards her and never really listened to her speak. More people should see this because she doesn't deserve all the hate she gets!

You know what.. I don't understand Kim K. I don't understand why she's famous or what purpose she serves, BUT she is a incredibly sweet, kind and giving person. So you know what, she's good. She can be famous all she wants and she is beautiful. Inside and out and that's whats nice about her.
I like it. It makes for an simple summary to part of the process (or how the process SHOULD be).
You're suddenly introduced to something very unfamiliar and a little shocking, you understandably react, you take time to settle and start to learn about it, you ask questions and keep an open mind. At the end of the day, you still might not completely understand it but you're knowledgeable about it, supportive and most importantly, respectful.

+Frida Caro Because he had 10 children with a woman, he did so the old fashion way (with the exception of some of them being step kids), he has been a man his entire life until he played around with the idea of crossdressing. He did not become "Transgender" until he hit a huge midlife crisis and his marriage was coming to an end. I do not consider him Trans at all. You have to understand that when you have a dad your entire life and suddenly you see them dressed as a woman, it's confusing and traumatic.

My point is that clothes and makeup are such tiny insignificant things yet we make such a huge deal over them. What if she has never transitioned and was just a cross dresser? If she lead a normal life as a man because that's who she was but chose to wear dresses and makeup from time to time, why would it matter? Why do we care? Honestly all this drama would be avoided if we didn't. Man, woman, genderqueer or nonconforming, we're all the same and not defined by our clothes or appearance.

5 years late but although I don’t agree with Kim on certain things and she can come off as dumb sometimes, she is very well spoken and has used her platform exceptionally well. She deserves respect as a businesswoman and an influencer.
You can say whatever you want about Kim. BUT she is an amazing stepchild to Caitlyn! And an amazing role model considering this issue ! If anyone has a trans person in their family you should handle it exactly like she does ! Get informed, even if it's an old Oprah video and respect your friends' of family member's nature. They have a hard time as is... We should at least make everything else comfortable for them.

can't stand keeping up with the kardashians or that the family is legitimately famous for being rich and dramatic (btw people, on reality shows, they have 8 hours + of footage daily that they edit to make more dramatic, so a lot of stuff you see didn't actually happen that way), but Kim actually seems pretty sharp compared to her sisters. Kim has also always presented herself pretty professionally. Ellen continues to shine light on celebs that gt a bad rap that are actually pretty mature well-rounded people despite the controversy set against them. the "real" person comes out on Ellen. well said about why you said about cait too Kim.
