Would you say light rail is better than the subway 🤔 ride? I live in Richmond Virginia and we have neither I wish we did though , I visited Newark and I rode the subway to Manhattan that's the only one time I road on a subway never been on light rail.
@@Classy4514Yeah the subway is Called the Path train and it’s more fast for NY travelers. The Light Rail is calm and a little more slower and connects the neighborhoods to the Path trains and NJ transit to travel anywhere in the East coast
OMG, this is too funny! After I've left Liberty State Park, I also took the New Jersey Transit's Hudson-Bergen Light Rail line to the Bergenline Avenue Station in Union City. When I arrived at the station, I did not realize how deep the elevator was, I was so worried that this wonderful man came with me to the ground level and than I walked to the hostel in Union City. Thank you Actionkid, this was wonderful!👍👍 DID YOU KNOW Bergenline is the only stop on in the HBLR system with an underground platform. Located 160 feet below ridge of the Hudson Palisades in the former Weehawken Terminal tunnel of the West Shore Railroad, it is reached by elevators traveling from street-level entrances located just north of busbays.
You can go to the Newark library and there may have pictures of the old "city subway" rail cars from 1935, before they bought in the new light rail cars in 2006.
I like living in NJ the old fashion look is still present in some cities Like East Orange and Brick township going all the way to Madison , Mountainside.
@@Maunico0809 They weren't bought in that early, I used to take the "City subway" to Penn Station from Branchbrook Park, back in 2001-2002. I was working for the TSA then.
I'm from a generation with no light rail this is actually amazing for my city if this was around when I was a kid bikes would have been a forgotten thing lol I would probably weigh twice as much too
This brings back fond memories. I worked across the street from the Port Imperial Ferry, in Weehawken NJ. The area is beautiful and It is a 5 minute boat ride to NYC. 🥰
I put your show on in the background and was like, "What's that". Public Safety should be a priority and that is the #1 reason why I don't use public transportation anymore. With the amount of money spent on the "Homeless Crisis" there should be resources in place so that individuals can get the help they need. No commuter should have to deal with someone who is high or coming down off drugs or whatever. I really did used to ride the trolley and bus everyday, until I was attacked and no one came to help. The cops didn't even show. Be careful out there!
Action - I'm sure you're always looking for places to go. Since you're doing trains here and there, check out Union Station in Washington DC. It's huge and there's a lot to see and do. You take an Amtrak from penn station and you're there in like 3 hours.
I did not know the light rail had any underground sections. Interesting. Just as you thought you knew everything about this system, you learn something.
Nice train / Light Rail ride and because i like the train rides , these are an extra enjoyable to me !!! And for the just that seeing the sceneries along the way is great !! Thank you for sharing AK , i appereciate this kind of content 👍!!!
I’ve never taken the light rail. Been a NJ resident for several years. I’m hire familiar with the NJ transit trains however to Hoboken & Secaucus. Thanks for the video! Btw, the ferries are fun to ride.
The first section of the entire network of that Light Rail system opened in Jersey City in 1999. At the time it only ran from West Side Avenue to downtown Jersey City and from there to Newport Center Mall. Nothing else had been built yet. I don't even believe the Hoboken connection had been completed yet. Anyway, I lived in Jersey City at the time and rode it almost for kicks... certainly not because it saved travel time or anything over what the local bus lines and certainly the PATH train could do. Nowadays, riding the full length from Bayonne to Bergenline Avenue is probably the best way of getting from one end to the other comfortably, reliably and at low cost. I don't live in that area anymore, so I can only make that speculation based upon other end-to-end travel videos I have seen posted.
I think there’s a man on there that must have bad anxiety. Thank you for moving. I am uncomfortable when other people are comfortable. Thank you for the cool ride. Have a good day AK

another top video , are these light rail automated or his there a driver on board. they are fairly fast form of transport, very clean, seems reasonable price for the tickets.
@@MrMlbfan6 yes, Newark has its own light rail lines. A rail connection between the 2 cities isn’t really necessary because the PATH serves that purpose
The Hudson/Bergen Line doesn't actually extend into Bergen County. It was originally planned to end in Englewood, NJ but the NIMBYies in Bergen County have been blocking it for many years now. The Bergen County people don't want the Hudson County people to have easy access to their towns. When the GWB was constructed the original plan was to extend the A Train across the bridge into Fort Lee, again it was blocked by Bergen County. For years there has been talk of extending the 7 train across the Hudson to the Meadowlands, again the idea gets shot down by Jersey every time it comes up.
@@MrSloika comparing the extension of the 7 line to extension of the HB light rail and the proposed rail lines over the GW, doesn’t make any sense. The reason why the 7 extension plan was rejected is because it would’ve been part of a plan to relocate the PA Bus Terminal over to Jersey (Secaucus Junction) and have Manhattan bound bus passengers disembark and transfer to the 7. No one who rides the bus would want to take a bus to Manhattan if it doesn’t go all the way to Manhattan. With the peak hour bus only Lanes at Lincoln tunnel exit, it only takes a few minutes to get to Manhattan from Secaucus exit on the turnpike. The 7 would make stops in Hoboken and Hudson Yards before it got to 42nd st and be a longer, more tedious ride
Congress Street is Jersey City, the Heights section; then. you passed the Viaduct which leads down into Hoboken, I think 14th Street. Then after that it appears you went up into Weehawkin the Lincoln Harbor, which is by the Lincoln Tunnel entrance. Tonnelle Avenue is west of the Hudson River. Did you get some good Cuban food when you got out on Bergenline?
No. Only Heavy rail commuter trains go to NY Penn, unless you're talking about Newark Penn which the Newark Lightrail terminates at Newark Penn Station. No New Jersey train or light rail go to Grand Central.
