      Same here. It’s no wonder we share many traits with these lil cousins of ours like yellin “snake,” or “beware of dog,” or “creep w/a weapon.” They have the same warnings. I’ll send ya a cute conversation b/w Toni & Pascal.

    I so enjoy watching all the bonding and the fact that the little ones go back into what should have been their real lives. I hit a couple of videos where people had clothes and diapers on the baby monkeys. The people were fussing at the babies because they were not eating neatly. All that kind of stuff. Makes me sad that those babies will never find their way out into a troop with foster moms and aunties and such. That each of you for all that you do. I guess it will be pretty easy to identify Pascal once he is out in the troop: find the monkey with half an ear!
    It makes sense that the babies feel comforted by sucking their hands and fingers, or each other's ears, since it is skin contact. I had never thought about that. But Toni is a piece of work! Every scene with him and other babies, he is going for an ear, getting mad when the other baby pushes him away. Then he gets a foster mom, with two teats that are there only for him, and he doesn't care! Very fussy baby!

    I've noticed that the babies who are like "don't touch me!" end up being the ones who are like "don't leave me!" after the Mums "break through" so to speak (i.e. Ulku, Dirkules). Maybe I'm overgeneralizing, but I also noticed this with a few other babies in prior weeks. Is it because they are younger- or perhaps more insecure and needy than the other babies (Dora, Yeliz)? Is it because they were introduced second- or is it more because of their personalities- or a combination of the two (among other reasons)? I think it's wonderful they now have someone to protect them, but I can't help but feel a little sad for the first babies who get pushed out (Yeliz, Dora). Maybe they don't care- and it's just me lol! I'm sure I am oversimplifying, but I find your work so fascinating. You do SO much for these babies (and their Mums). You are tireless and dedicated. I am so in awe of all of you! Thank you so much for sharing another chapter of your journey with this season's monkeys.

    🤓🏴‍☠️🇸🇪

  • @rentechpad
    @rentechpad 3 года назад +1

    These integrations go so well and it must be easier as troops get used to receiving babies in this manner, as well as fostered babies that grow up to be foster moms would probably even be more with the program as that is how they came to be troop members. I have seen a couple of times where it did take going through introducing a baby to more than one troop to find a foster pairing they would settle in
    Have you ever had a baby that absolutely refused to be fostered and would not give up being hand raised by a human, and what did you in that case, or if its never happened what you try to do if it did? Have you ever had a baby that rejected after being taken out into the troop and got into problems with how it was treated?
    How do the foster troops handle the ranking of a foster baby? Is it much like a natural baby would get ranked by who its mother is? Or do that get a determination of rank once they get to be juveniles and with their foster mother less? If it is determined by who raises them, I know the tendency to want the very best for an infant you cared for for a few weeks and it would be a tendency to always pair babies with higher ranked mothers, but since every troop benefits by having all level of rankings never giving a lower or low ranking mother a baby would seem to be artificially pushing the balance of rank toward the higher ranked levels and ever troop needs some lower rankings to balance things out which I would be concerned that then some juveniles or adults would artificially lose rank do to an influx of babies all the time that were only of higher rank. And one last question: how often do you find a foster mom takes a baby out in the troop and the baby then ends up with another mother?
    I am a huge fan of owls, and that was a wonderful little bit of footage of the African Wood Owl. Looked like he was not as happy to see you watching him watching others :) Great shot as he swooped away, their wing span is always impressive

      I believe all the females are fixed and cannot have babies are lactate. That's why they adopt babies so easily because they don't have their own. That is also why these babies need to learn how to drink out of the feeding cages before they can be adopted because they put the cages out in the troops so they can go drink when they need to. So i would guess if they are sucking at the mother's it's just a pacifier.

      Sonia (above) says, "Nice work from the Foundation. It would be interesting to put other language options, Spanish, Portuguese or French to be able to take more advantage of what you explain!" Carolyn says, "I am sure that right now no one has the time or the energy to provide such service. Does anyone have any ideas about how we could help with language services?" ("Estoy segura de que en este momento nadie tiene el tiempo o la energía para brindar ese servicio. ¿Alguien tiene alguna idea sobre cómo podríamos ayudar con los servicios de idiomas?")

      También me he estado preguntando acerca de los mensajes en otros idiomas. No conozco la respuesta. (Disculpas: mi español no es muy bueno).

    To okusování uší je normální chování, nebo je to projev stresu? Proč to opičky dělají a nemohou jedna druhou zranit? Proč to chování pěstouni tolerují?

      @ Mike Keebler: The Vervet Monkey Foundation operates in Africa, not Florida. The monkeys are not adopted out to humans.

    Why do you spend so much time saving these monkeys when on all other RUclips channels the vervet monkey is getting shot because they are rodents. I commend you for what you do but it must be so frustrating to see that
