I thought he was bombing, but I learned a lot of tips on how to handle it professionally. It's very easy for a comedian to get negative with the audience when that happens. He did well.
Andy was one of the first people I opened for when I first got hired at Helium Comedy Club and I can say that this guy is one of nicest and most genuine down to earth people I've ever met. I think he's funny as shit too, what with all the hater comments?
Andy is sooooo good. He's a completely unique comedian so when he's performing for an audience that doesn't know what to expect, there's always a buffer period they need to get through to understand what Marc Maron said about Andy Kindler, "the comedy is in the trying". And nobody tries as hard as Andy and he's such a pro at what he does. You could see even though the audience wasn't laughing that much, they were right there with him the whole time. The opposite of love isn't hate, but disinterest, and he kept them engaged the entire time, as you could tell from the instant, unanimous applause at the end that can only occur when a room is completely in sync and getting their cues from the man on stage, regardless of how much they laughed.
I love that he said people on the Titanic got what they deserved, and the audience was just silent. I love the comments section here. Really, he may be my favorite comedian.
Chris Pearson that was a solid joke, and the audience's silence just made it funnier. he's getting a lot of hate here but it was just the wrong audience
Most people don't appreciate obscure comedy enough for this fact to be self-evident... ...but that's what lends itself to most modern obscure comedy being so great.
I have posted this on several of his videos, but I don't care... On March 30, 2014 Andy was coming to Cleveland Hilarities Comedy Club. It just so happened that was my son's 21st Birthday. I managed to track down Andy's manager and asked if Andy could say "Happy Birthday" to my son. The manager wasn't sure if Andy would. But you know what? He did. He told the story of how I tracked down his manager and told my son "happy Birthday" and engaged him for several minutes" After the show, dozens of people came up to me and told me , basically "That was awesome of you". Yeah, that was a great night.
he's hilarious just for the fact that he makes it look like he's making it up on the spot...there's no apparent depth to his humor but what can i say...he's rich...he's set for life..he did it...he made it as a stand up apparently without being funny.....kinda cool...
He's definitely not for everyone. His humor is deliberately "bad" while he simultaneously mocks other people in the industry. Likewise he pokes fun at a lot of overdone comedy tropes while participating in them, like the "whiny Jew" shtick. A lot of his "bad" stuff is also pretty clever joke deconstructing. I can see why his stuff rubs a lot of people the wrong way (purposefully), but I will just say that there's a reason why most comics hold Kindler in high regard.
I legitimately don't know what to think of this set. I mean, I burst out a few times, but this feels more like an open mic experimentation than a tight ten.
My favorite part is at 6:00 the domestic abuse joke. He delivers a painfully unfunny joke with horrible delivery. Then he pretends that the reason the audience didn't laugh was because it was too edgy for them. LMAO
An EXTREMELY uneven set, but I personally thought its best moments funnier than the rather dull audience gave him credit for. You've got to like quirky-clever, which I do.
He sounds mad. One thing I like about a good commedian is the confidence to deliver a joke, and that he knows himself the jokes are funny he will laugh with the audience. I don't hate this guy but he can improve and be likeable (cause that's also one thing).
My eyes are watering from laughing. This guy is just plain funny. But, on this night his audience is just not there, and he is STILL powering through. Everytime they don't laugh, I laugh harder. He gets louder on the punchline to try and remedy the sitch and it still doesn't work. I wish it would never stop. He is audience proof. Love Andy.
I think he's hilarious, including this performance. He's obviously not for everyone. Honestly, the jokes that killed me most were the ones no one laughed at.
none of you naysayers get it. kindler is singular. hilarious deconstruction of a bomb. " the joke is OVER!! we are in the AFTERMATH. of the joke." "...that joke, if you didnt't laugh, you need to get out of the comedy business"
Wow, people below me don't get it. He is really funny. He makes me laugh out loud, and I can't say that about many comedians. Norm MacDonald is my favorite, and he makes me laugh out loud, but this guy Kindler cracks me up, genuinely. Letterman loved him (had him on many times), as has Conan. Kindler is funny.
I am one of the thumbs up! I think he simply needs a little bit of standup stamina practice. The consistency in delivery faltered a bit and led to just a few timing errors such as being too quick with words in a couple spots, which understandably comes from his quick style! Its awesome to me but in those situations Andy needs to let the audience breath and process the full value of the line, which he absolutely nails during the jay leno bit and the audience is super receptive! The audience even opens up for rest of the set because of that. I love this guy on Raymond, Home movies, etc where i thought he really shined through as a comedically strong and unique persona. I definitely see that here, but standup is a one take deal which takes a different skillset. You can see Ray Romano and Brad Garrett have that special-something in their delivery that standups have, and Andy definitely has it on ELR.
It's amazing to me that someone like Andy actually gets paid for this. I've had co-workers that are so funny that I've legit had to leave the room because they were making my ribs hurt. Meanwhile, this hack probably got paid a ton for this disaster.
why are all you haters watching this clip then? Sounds like quite a few of you already know you don't like his stand-up. Move along. plenty of other stuff to see on RUclips
Holy crap is this an example from comedy school on how NOT to do it? I've seen this guy be funny, but why he came up with this whole performance I cannot imagine.
Okay so is this like a gig he's doing for an actuary's convention? Weepin Jesus on the cross there's barely a pulse in this room. I'm still catching my breath from his league of nations chunk thing...
This is Andy Kindler at his Andy Kindlerest. He is so right when he says he had a great set and the audience had an off night!! I love Andy!
I thought he was bombing, but I learned a lot of tips on how to handle it professionally. It's very easy for a comedian to get negative with the audience when that happens. He did well.

Jacob Christopher I don't fucking get it. He's one of my favorite comics
I think he's great I am a big fan
People who don't fucking get it
They don’t get the meta level that his act has a lot of purposely corny jokes so he can make fun of himself. One of my favs of all time.
i like hearing that people are nice
Does it have to be so ROUND!!!!
Andy is sooooo good.

It's like watching someone drown on dry land.
I mean at least he knows he isnt that good which made it funny to me
Thats why Its funny
Quicksand! You're talking about quicksand!
I love this guy. One of the funniest people ever imo
Ah man, so much kindler hate in the comments. I freaking love this guy.
why? legit question...to me this is terrible
I like him too!!! Damn that guys funny
Same here. I fucking love him
I love Andy Kindler the guy, but this set sucked and he knew it.
Still here for it.
"Did I put enough Jewish mustard on the HOTDAAAWWG!?"
This was incredible. One of the best sets I've ever seen.
Weekend at Mort's
He's actually a real pro. The funniest part is how disgusted he is with the audience.
he did a shit job lol he seems to hate stand up like hes doing bad on purpose but its not funny either way you look at it
This set would have been funnier if his microphone was a flamethrower.
What's weird is that I really like him. Unpredictable, zany, and he just goes for it. Some of them are gems.
I love that he said people on the Titanic got what they deserved, and the audience was just silent.
I love the comments section here.
Really, he may be my favorite comedian.
Stalin was worse
It still kills me: "...Jay Leno, if he was a comedian. (Pause.) The joke is now over."
Chris Pearson that was a solid joke, and the audience's silence just made it funnier. he's getting a lot of hate here but it was just the wrong audience
This is funny because the audience is part of the joke...and we get to be the audience of the audience.
Most people don't appreciate obscure comedy enough for this fact to be self-evident...
...but that's what lends itself to most modern obscure comedy being so great.

"speaking of jokes" I'm wheezing
I'm having a great set, you people are having an off night...had me laughing my ass off.
Well, *I'M* rolling on the floor.
tsss he's fawkin good, this guy
+freezingfire810 fawk yeah he is id pay to see more of his comics
freezingfire810 take us to break piggy!
lol, I can't believe this has downvotes. Don't you guys get it?
He's better than so many new comics I've heard who get 100+ K views
The girl in the front row 8.53 was worth watching this for.
Andy you're the freakin' best...
@John Bryan if you don't get Andy ...no one can explain it...his rants are humorous harmless & human...
he's hilarious just for the fact that he makes it look like he's making it up on the spot...there's no apparent depth to his humor but what can i say...he's rich...he's set for life..he did it...he made it as a stand up apparently without being funny.....kinda cool...
@John Bryan & John Bryan...ha! have a wonderful time...be safe...good to hear from ya...best to all in your realm...
Kindlers one of my favorites.
can you explain why? or what makes him funny? i cant see it dude

I legitimately don't know what to think of this set. I mean, I burst out a few times, but this feels more like an open mic experimentation than a tight ten.
I love Andy, probably too much.
That was goddamn amazing
I honestly think the crowd was just too photogenic to get jokes
My favorite part is at 6:00 the domestic abuse joke. He delivers a painfully unfunny joke with horrible delivery. Then he pretends that the reason the audience didn't laugh was because it was too edgy for them. LMAO
How much does the audience get paid to sit thru this?
An EXTREMELY uneven set, but I personally thought its best moments funnier than the rather dull audience gave him credit for. You've got to like quirky-clever, which I do.
Some funny stuff.
hilarious!
I thought this was hilarious.
The best joke of all
He sounds mad. One thing I like about a good commedian is the confidence to deliver a joke, and that he knows himself the jokes are funny he will laugh with the audience. I don't hate this guy but he can improve and be likeable (cause that's also one thing).
ALWAYS FUNNY Andy!

+Kathy Bingham Do you also laugh about dog shit when you see it on the ground? Cause that is what this act is to comedy.
Lmfao
I only know this guy from talking shit about other comedians and after watching this I can see why that is.
Trashing Jay Leno? Wow.
David Nantz What?
your profile pic bruh you or whoever that is has a cartoonish jaw like leno
This guy is like the Jeb Bush of the comedy circuit....
I think he's hilarious, including this performance. He's obviously not for everyone. Honestly, the jokes that killed me most were the ones no one laughed at.
Most of the jokes weren't funny, but his delivery sold them.
fawk yeah! this guy is good. home run kindler
real life michael scott
Gandhi told him "Be the joke you want to tell in the world"
This guy is fuckin hilarious. A league of nations Joke....Cmon ppl thats pretty genius
OHHHHHHH LORDDDYYY LAWDDDD OPINIONS ARE SO POLARIZING
i think its fact he sucks
You *think* it's a fact? Then I guess it's not a fact.
It's jameson from WWF! and yeah no one is getting the joke
I fucking love this set. Kinder fucking RULES
Generally, if you have to repeatedly tell people when you cracked a joke, it's probably time to rethink your act.
you’ve misunderstood. that’s a part of the act
the joke is he's actually really funny
We get what you're going for. And you've failed at it for three decades.
+LobsterSoupable He thinks it's funny to be unfunny. Unfortunately, he's the only one. He's the definition of a hack.

That just means he's not funny.
This stand up is perfect if you hate staying awake.

You, and virtually all professional comedians agree. (And me, too.)
The joke is now over. ...jk. Andy Kindler is funny. Not everyone agrees. Everything is fine.
Couldn't agree more. I was laughing hard as fuck!
I am one of the thumbs up! I think he simply needs a little bit of standup stamina practice. Andy's brilliant. Crowd is dim.
this guy appears on the sam seder show. appropriate
He can be bad on purpose, but can he be good?
god this is painful
+Thom Eiser *Not getting it*
I meant the audience, but k
This wasn't a good set. But Andy Kindler is a great comic. See his other stuff. He skits on Letterman were awesome.
Watching skits like this encourage me to do stand up. I can now go: 'Well I can't do that bad!'
As an embarrassed Quebecker, I'm sorry Andy.
not funny
+Rob Tanner and punt!
Maybe if you yell louder and flash a sign that says "laugh" then you'll have something better to post online.
Holy crap is this an example from comedy school on how NOT to do it? I've seen this guy be funny, but why he came up with this whole performance I cannot imagine.
hahahaha hes honestly not that bad probably better than most of us if we tried
ouch
Wow. 2013 and he made that joke about cell phones?
A funny person just left the stage "I don't think I can follow that" his words, and I could not agree more.
Was he ever funny? How did he ever get the title comedian?
he was funny on letterman
Awful. If this guy is a comedian, so am I.
Mistyped my search and found this by mistake. That. Was. Painful. Why is there a room of people watching him? Did they make the same mistake I did?
This guy should just quit. He is not good at this job.
Dear god
i think it's intelligent comedy
Okay so is this like a gig he's doing for an actuary's convention? Weepin Jesus on the cross there's barely a pulse in this room.
I'm still catching my breath from his league of nations chunk thing...
dude is just not funny
a lot of this guy's humor is meta. he makes jokes about his own jokes and delivery. i think he's hysterical. this was his worst set, though.
so going up and sucking and acting like it was intentional is good comedy?
No. But that's not what he does.
@@reggiehammond1420 you definitely liked your own comment
The problem wasn't the audience. Yuck.
+Evan Goch Hello, Andy.
Andy was right.
This was bad. Dennis Miller bad.
Nope. Nothing.
the audience was terrible
It's... hard to watch. A comedian getting angry at the audience for not laughing when he signals: 'the joke is over, that was a joke!'
wow yeesh.
He was so funny all that time ago on Dr Katz, his mostly irritating style of humor i guess only works as a character act
lmao though crowd ... why are they so though
This guy is a open micer? What the fuck?
Damn...rough set.
What the hell was he talking about?
being unfunny
hack
Andy Kindler, Greg Giraldo
The wrong comic died of a drug overdose.
I thought jews were supposed to be funny?
oof. This "lifeform" is awful and should stop doing this.
