  • The Spotlight Initiative is a global, multi-year partnership between the European Union and the United Nations to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls by 2030. It is the world’s largest targeted effort to end all forms of violence against women and girls. Here's an invigorating cultural dance performance by the Belize National Dance Company.

    1 of arm hand movements & body positions is same as Brazilian late 1800s early 1900s Maxixe, & from earlier 1800s Lundu, both ultimately from Landllers-AustriannGerman Swiss folk dances (see, fir exakklle, Sound of Music film & dance excerpt videos.
    Brazilians & Belizeans use that particular Landler hold, but also both partners lean over in 360
    degrees circles bending/ leaning from waist. Who learned which from whom? Before photo & film, people simply had to see & learn in person. You

      This is 1 of Kriyol (Creole) style dances of groups of couples,
      19th c. English or French
      influences, similar to Hautr Taille of Gouadeloupe, Quadrille of Trinidad & Tobago etc But this
      specific dance style. ??
