I tried the H95 with the USB-C cable to unlock its DAC potential and it still sounds quieter in comparison. So what he is saying is true. If you want more volume, more bass and over all better sound quality, get the Focal Bathys. I use both the headphones side by side and the focal is just better for sound in comparison

I guess it can depend on personal taste as well. Nothing wrong with the H95. Its just that the Bathys gets louder with DAC is what I noticed and I liked having that kind of power on the audio ouput

but main use case of a bluetooth headphone shouldn't be to wire it... that's kinda.... stupid
you get a bluetooth headphone to go wireless and in that scenario it sounds like the H95 has the edge

@@jamendetvarjukul I replaced my wired hifi headphone with the focal bathys. Because when I am not travelling and I am home I like to use the DAC mode. This is really a 2 in 1 headphone which the H95 can not be.

That's interesting, as to my knowledge and according to the official instruction manual, the H95 uses the USB-C port on the headphones for charging, only.
For sound connection, it's either via Bluetooth wireless OR using the supplied 3.5mm lead, which is an analog connection.
You can improve the sound by using an external DAC such as a Chord Mojo or Audioquest Dragon, connected to your source, and then connect the H95s to the DAC via the supplied 3.5mm lead.
I"ve tried this with H9 3rd Gen, and there's a noticeable uplift in sound quality using an external DAC compared to what's on offer in the usual smartphone for example.

I got the h95 a few days ago, its sound is fantastically addictive, I love it. A very important piece of info, it needs roughly 15-20 hours at max volume for the membrane to work 😉

is the h95 good for calls, has anyone complained about your voice and the noise in the background? I'm a truck driver and I'm happy to spend a fair bit to get premium headphones. Call quality matters to me more but also the premium sound for audio will be an added bonus.

The great enemy of headphones is heat and sweat. It is very closed and cannot ventilate on its own behind the ear cushions, sweat condenses around the membrane and can even flow into it. And the color of the ear cushions will change if they get wet.

I owned both and listened to the px8 in the stores. Im a true music lover and the detail and imaging in the focals were immediately present when i listened. Unmatched clarity and great precise crisp bass. I liked the B&O but volume too low, did not sound special like the bathys and the clamp force was way too uncomfortable. The PX8 listening was very underwhelming. I use my bathys all the time so returned the B&O. Couldnt be happier with my decision. Just used them on a 9 hour flight and ANC with music was excellent without any it is great. Transparency is top notch.

Hey I almost brought the bathy. Instead I got the bang and olufsen h95. Because I do honestly believe that you are right about the sound quality of the bathy being better than the h95. But that is only when wired and I don't want a wired connection at all. Even if only wired to my phone. So if the bathy wireless sound quality was better than the h95 I would have gotten them. Bathy played a cool trick in my opinion. They tricked the consumer with the dac mode. Why would I buy a wireless headset for the sound quality and really need to have them wired to get the best performance???? If i were to do that i could get way better sound quality by just purchasing a wired set of headphones. Additionally to be wired to the phone at a minimum possess to many problems with my use case. Having said that. I really do have a question for you. Without being wired do you think that the bathy still has a better sound quality than the h95??? Because in this video you kinda said the h95 were better until you plug in the bathy headphones and use the dac mode. I really do respect your opinion on the matter of headphones.

It's a widely reported issue (even DHRME reported it even though they love the H95). Stax Spirit S3 has some build issues but nothing we cannot live with. While sitting and listening the issue is not there. It's simply not built for activities.. H95 for it's price should have flawless execution on everything. It's almost damn $900 . It gives a "hizzzzzzz" sound similar to a laptop fan during phone calls while transparency mode switched on. This has been confirmed by Bang and Olufsen in my case. I tried three different pairs and all had this mistake. So in the end, it broke my heart but sent back the H95. The focal is the very clear overall winner! Being able to put technical information or in a way that everyone can understand is key. Also even the non technical parts of the review ye. Audio quality etc, which can be subjective is explained nicely and with examples, so it’s easier to get a feel of the product as the points are very straightforward and clear. I'd be interested in your thoughts if you were to try an external DAC with the H95's, such as the Chord Mojo or the Audioquest Dragon; either way, the built-in DAC in the Focals, or an add-on external DAC such as the above coupled with the H95's, will improve the sound over Bluetooth, or a 'normal' analog connection.

    • @TechKnowBiz
      @TechKnowBiz  Год назад +1

Pairing up the H95 with an external DAC sounds promising. Though I have not done that yet, I get the feeling that it would increase the volume level. But it would be very interesting to see if the accuracy stays that sharp then too. Because I tested the Beoplay HX with an external DAC which could not handle the extra power. But then again, the H95 has better drivers so I hope it should not be a problem

The H95 are more clear I would say as they represent all the frequency levels very accurately. And the Bathys on the other hand has a bigger soundstage, more bass more volume and overall more powerful. It is a little rough than the h95 around the edges but are more lively. However, sound signature wise they are both very different. I cant really make a call for you here as it will come down to personal taste. So, you need to hear them yourself if you can.

Their volume is also limited. Focal has the best sound, but their ANC hopeless and crap. Im not even talking Sony or Bose level. I ended up with PX8 which is also cheaper, better ANC and looks better. Bathys too big and in your face type. Also I think the built-in dac is more marketing hype. Most the high end can do similar thing with the built-in DSP, even the PX8. All of them will sound much better wired obviously. But that defeat the purpose of a portable Bluetooth? Try to listen to some old school hip hop at 100% volume. Particularly when you try to adjust the EQ that's when it really happens. It doesn't happen much on r&b music as long as you keep the equalizer on normal but try to do anything else and it's going to distort. And it has been talked about on some forms about these headphones. But I've experienced it first hand. Very disappointing for a pair of $800 headphones. My Sennheiser doesn't do that. @TechKnowBiz lol, you gave the Bathy a bunch of L's. But I pretty much agree with most things you said.

I received my pi7 s2 today… what a disappointment!!! NO eq, No upgrade in sound quality, just one more hour for battery life and a blue color!!! And it cost me 600$ canadian !!! I wrote to b&w! My first version is more punchy in the bass and has a little bit more volume.
    So don’t buy the pi7 s2 people… it’s a steal 😡

I do not like the H95, so I am returning them. They are very uncomfortable, and the app is atrocious. They also have limited volume... not worth $300!!

The sound in the Bioplay h95 is comparable to $100 headphones. I didn't hear anything special from them. The Sony 1000xm5 outperforms them in terms of clarity and stage size for a much lower price.
