  • We were thrilled to recently invite Jack Pink and Felix Pedrotti from Southampton University to undertake 3D scans of the Royal Research Ship Discovery as part of a wider project relating to the extensive Discovery collections held across the UK.
In this short video, learn more about what the 3D models will be used for, and how the technology used - including a camera that plots over 1million points per minute! - has advanced to allow for rapid scanning of large objects.

The technology is remarkable - we're so fortunate to have the RRS Discovery documented in this way. Thank you for your comment. We're glad you enjoyed the video!
