Steven Wright's jokes are way too smart to ever be considered "cheesy." Glad Daz, pointed that out. As for his delivery, I think Anthony Jeselnik is very influenced by Wright, in both his pacing and the monotone.
The other day I put instant coffee in a microwave....... I almost went back in time. I saw a sign that said "24-Hour Banking"..... But I didn't have that much time.

I live on a one way dead end street. I have no idea how I got there. I saw a slight that said rest area 1 mile. I though to myself, that's a big rest area. I wear mirrors around my ankles when walking in the woods, because Snakes are afraid of Snakes too.
Steven Wright is still loved here. It’s not so much that he does one-liners as it is he’s genuine. It’s the gestalt of the jokes, the delivery, and the whole demeanor. No one else could do that.
