  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking at India Today Conclave 2024, today said the links between probe agency raids and electoral bonds were mere assumptions. Sitaraman criticised the Opposition, for protesting against the Central government's policies and offering 'revdi' or freebies. Finance Minister said despite global fluctuations, Indian markets have maintained a certain level of sanity. "I would leave markets to its wisdom," the FM said at the India Today conclave. Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2024, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said crypto assets cannot be legal currencies.
    The India Today Conclave - India's premier thought forum - is entering its 21st year. Over the next two days, Conclave 2024 will bring together visionaries, leaders, and luminaries from across the globe under one roof to delve into the essence of 'Brand Bharat: An Assertive Nation in an Uncertain World'. Spanning over two decades, the conclave has established itself as a premier forum for dissecting the complexities of our times, stimulating intellectual debates, and seeding the ideas that shape our world.

    8.25 what a logical answer slapped on media...and second one 34.36 "lazy journalisms" exact term for today's media. As Rahul Kanwal said tough questions.... No they are "biased questions" or "try to act of balancing questions" for asking tough questions media has to think 10 years ahead.... Today's media is biased...

    The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

      A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.

      Seriously, then ask one of these Modi/Shah/Nirmala to explain why there is more than one instance of ED/CBI/IT raids followed by Electoral Bonds purchased by these companies to be sent to BJP.
      If your head is in order, you will understand why these firms gave a donation to ruling party and stop these investigations. The bizarre part is that investigations stop completely without any reasons provided. It is public knowledge how Adani managed to get Mumbai airport from GVK by getting BJP to order ED investigation against GVK. If educated people like you are going to turn blind to these exposes, I am worried about the future of this country.

    I have only one request …. Demonetize Indian rupee in physical form.
    Highest denomination should be 100Rs. Cash to gdp should be less than 3%.
    Rupee should only exist in digital form. Carrying cash more than 5000 should be banned. Transactions in cash beyond 10000 should be banned

      This should happen over time, if happens suddenly our economy might not survive the impact, we can only hope do to it only when our currency has strength and our economy has the depth to do full currency convertiblity.

    The irony is if the economy reaches 7 trillion, in whose pockets the money is going into? 70 percent of our wealth is with a very low proportion of rich people and the rest is what runs our upper, middle-class, and low-income families. Our GDP is growing that's incredible, but our per capita income is at 2.85 USD which tells the whole story. The government should take measures to work on how we can raise people's standards of living instead of boasting only about economic growth.

    • @vineetrai2258
      @vineetrai2258 6 месяцев назад

      But for that we need to increase the economy, increase our export and manufacturing. After then we can increase per capita and quality of life.

    • @anandchowdary6980
      @anandchowdary6980 6 месяцев назад

      @@vineetrai2258 Yes you're partly right but we have to balance both and what is the point of wealth-getting accumulated to only the 10percent of rich people it has to be diversified and that's the government's vision for the future perspective of our country. Any government should be confident enough to put the actual facts to the people not showing one side of the coin which is wrong and many Indians don't know the economy at all. We have a current account deficit of $8.3 billion which implies we are importing more than exporting and an inflation rate is over 5.5 percent.

      In 2004, our GDP stood at $709 billion. By 2014, it had risen to $2039 billion, marking a 2.87-fold increase. Presently, it stands at $4110 billion, showing just a twofold increase during the Modi era. Therefore, the economy expanded more rapidly under the tenure of Manmohan Singh. Our ascent to the position of the fifth-largest economy is largely attributed to our growing population rather than the actions of the NDA government.

      PLI scheme rewards gives tax breaks to companies investing in selected sectors which are important for India's resilience in supply change which in turn also contributes to national security apart from economic benefits. If criteria related to source of funds being from profit are put in, FDI in those sectors will be impacted because fireign comoanies may not want to share their P&L accounts with Govt. of India.

    Any reform initiative should include the judiciary also. A bunch of judges, who still live with colonial era mindset and antipathy towards the very concept of India, who can’t see anything beyond the appointment of their progenies into judiciary after their retirement, can defeat any economic reform initiative of the government . The farm bills are typical example. The Hon SC didn’t even disclose what the committee appointed by itself, recommended on the matter. The electoral bond judgement is another classic example. With one stroke the Hon judges revived the old scheme of under the table bribery of political parties and leaders in cash or kind without any evidence. Unless judiciary is reformed no amount of efforts by governments, of any party, will succeed. Banking sector is one of the worst victim of the adjournment culture of judiciary.

    Our next target to be in top 3 economies is to invest in manufacturing and semiconductors portfolio and AI. Taiwan takes 70% of the world's market today in produing 2 mm chips that iphone and AI chips use todat. Its a huge investment and TATA group has started its pitch. we currently have capability to manufacture 20 mm chip which is used in laptops and other semiconductor models. we need to expand that market and cross over CHina in the next 10 years. India has already saturated in Services industry, time to capture the manudacturing and semiconductor too..
