  • People like to quote Jesus' words, "Do not judge..." but does it mean what we think it means? Is Jesus telling us to never judge others? Here's a message on Matthew 7:1-6 that considers what grace-centered judgment in the church looks like!

    The right from wrong?
    When our guard is down,
    I think we'll both agree
    That violence breeds violence,
    But in the end
It has to be this way!

A great message for every day life. Thank you! As I get older I notice how much energy I waste in judgement of others. Energy better spent maybe, on working on my stuff.

Such a great, important, powerful sermon, especially that list of 'dont assumes'. And I'm glad you said about the usual reasoning for judgment. I've had people look at me, it makes me uncomfortable, so now I've learnt not to look at others because I remember how it makes me feel

    Thanks , take care , Gary 

I enjoy your sermons. Right now our church is looking for a new pastor after a horrible split perpetuated by the last pastor. I hope that we get someone like you who doesn’t have boring sermons!

Two verses before Jesus said "judge not", He said "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and *His* righteousness". His righteousness is the righteousness which is imputed by faith. I think Jesus was teaching believers not to judge each other because "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). "None are righteous" (Romans 3:10). We should always judge sin, but not the sinner if they have believed and been saved.
Since these things be true we cannot judge who has believed and who hasn't because of any particular sin in their life (1 Samuel 16:7). If they speak with their lips the true gospel, then they are to be considered as righteous as any other believer, since our righteousness comes as a gift from God (Romans 5:16-19).
