    For about the pat 5/6 days I have been having felt giddy, exciteable, my happiness feels euphoric and I'm somewhat dizzy, things look bright and crisp as if my eyesight is better, and I have more energy than I usually do. I have been waking up in the middle of the night after only a few hours asleep and feeling fully rested. This stands out to me as I have spent the majority of my life lethargic, with very low energy, feeling depressed and lacking motivation. Nobody has ever diagnosed me with bipolar so I don't know if I am or not, but I have noticed that when my bouts of depression break and I feel happy for a few days, I often feel giddy and in some way it resembles a buzz similar to being on drugs. Usually when I experienced this in the past, it didn't impact my sleep though, or it didn't stand out enough to notice, but this past week that seems very different and after only sleeping 2/3 hours per night, I am still full of energy and awake. My usual low-self esteem has dissipated and I feel generally happier, though sometimes I am irritable. I spent my whole life oversleeping, never getting up on time, snoozing, sleeping til the last minute, feeling groggy for hours after waking, and to all of a sudden be experience the oppoisite of that is a shock and completely unprecedented. There are positives to it of course and I prefer it over feeling lethargic and depressed, but I am not sure if I should be conerned.

      These sound like textbook symptoms of bipolar. I am bipolar as well. You should definitely seek help. All the best!

    During hypomania I sleep a lot less than usual and I'm still energetic, talkative, optimistic, have rapid thoughts, can read faster, see colors more vibrant and vivid, start shaking with all the energy and I want to do impulsive stuff like jumping from a third floor because I think I'll fly or may believe everyone wants to befriend me 😂

    I think the key symptom to watch out for is loss of sleep. In hypomania you sleep less and with full blown mania you might largely stop sleeping.

    I have been misdiagnosed with bipolar.I always feel good around people but that's about it.Abnormally good.Euphoric even.But when I am alone, I am mostly normal, or down.I don't sleep though, never have, but it's just draining, I never felt energized the day after, never overspent(bit stingy even).I was on Zyprexa and I was sedated most of the time, but that euphoria with people around me, never went away.Hence the doctors said I'm just an insomniac.I now take 2.5 zyprexa(can't shake it),remeron

    Very 1st red flag I notice is that I stop getting tired. I don't have increased energy and I'm still sleeping, but I don't get tired. I feel at 9 o'clock in the evening after working a double shift and doing my exercise exactly how I felt ar 6 o'clock when I woke up for the day. I literally do not get tired. This singular symptom lasts for about 2 weeks before others kick in.

    Hypomaina doesn't seem like a bad thing to me. It's not mania, could it be addictive? I want the elevated mood more often so I feel confident. Is it possible to keep it without the depressed phases?

    • @SandraLovesSun
      @SandraLovesSun 7 лет назад +8

      I would imagine it is because lack of sleep leads to a whole host of unstable moods. For me it is irritability and then ultimately depression. It is nebulous, though.

    • @cosmicallis7936
      @cosmicallis7936 6 лет назад +1

      because when you sleep your body and ur brain use that time to restore and repair cells amongst other things, it can only do that properly when the body is in a deep enough sleep for a long enough period of time, if it doesn't, well..u do the math..lol

      For me, I know when I have sleepless (or lack of) nights that the depression that leads my hypomanic episodes will be worse. Imbalances in my sleep schedule cause my episodes to be more intense and erratic.
