Ben did an excellent job with the turbo. Considering Scotty you were pulling your hair out over the build, it's going great & I can't wait until it's finished.
Love this car mate. Can not wait to see the finished product. As always, thanks for sharing and going through the pain for our pleasure!! 🙂 Appreciate it.
Factory intake manifold is beautiful! Matches the rest of the V8 perfectly. Glad you ditched the LS intake. I wonder if the factory manifold would benefit from a nice port job though if it’s a bottleneck in the system.
Should go to vs v6 thermofan...can trim shroud down for clearance to get arms into engine bay. Also two speeds instead of one that vn-vr thermofan. Th400 will open up alot more options later on when turn it up.
BEAUTIFUL FABRICATION! what's the situation regarding having an oval (squished) dump pipe past the engine bay towers or doesn't it need much massaging anyway?
two choices. room for the inter-cooler or the battery. "GET ME SIDE CUTTERS, NOW"! Big cheers to Ben. beautiful work! well done metal fabrication to me is like art. BTW. Hey Ben, i home brew, do you work for cartons? lol.
I seem to say this about each of the carnage projects but this is now my favorite. Closely followed by turbo taxi. Great work scotty. Is there any chance to chance aircon or its just all to tight now?
Nice fabrication... Here's hoping the radiator pipes were purge welded tho 🧐 (noticed the exhaust wasn't, that's not a huge thing, but the water pipes should be for longevity)
Such a fun idea of a conversion. Saddest part is if this wasn't made for a show, you could get just as good results with an ls1 swap or a built 304. But, for you poor youtubers, you always have to do the much harder and cooler thing for your views. For what it's worth, I think this is a heaps cooler thing than the trolvo. I really hope it's as successful as you guys need it to be. The pipe work is gorgeous
The Volvo project from my view was more of a middle finger to everyone in that here is what you can do if you want to make everyone else notice what can done if you find a way to do it and don't care about what others think. Just my view. Most other projects are let's do the standard thing, the Volvo? F it lets go all out on running gear but keep the rest as bodgy as possible, this is where the original Mazda MX5 build failed, no one cares about a twin turbo GM pushrod V8, but put in. A Falcon taxi engine it and people cared about it right away.
The 1uz is so much more efficient than a ls or 304. Is built stronger from factory and will handle the boost so much better stock. No one cares about LS swaps anymore, even a K swap would be more exciting
Yeah the VR/VS rear diff were not good at all with live axle suspension as by then GMH were doing IRS for the sedans and the wagons were actually downgraded from the VN/VP era which were pretty much the same for sedan and wagon V8 but obviously the Lexcen used the V6 running gear. You can probably use the Borg Warner 'Hydratrak" LSD diff from the Falcon Ute (of that era) if you can find one and the the diff ratio should be 3.27:1 ratio which is the sweet spot for acceleration and top end speed. So far so good with this project build, once done drive it past Toyota HQ and let it rip.
@351tgv they are exactly the same diff vl turbo, vl v8, vn-vs v6, vn-vs v8, all solid axle hsv, ford eb-au 6 and v8,, they are all the same diff.... all it might need is a true trac and could swap to 3.45 gears Unless the diff is locked/spooled the 28 spline axles will handle alot...
Ok I thought GMH changed them from VR onwards as they went to all IRS set up for the V8 sedan versions and the Lexcen got the bog standard V6 running gear (pushrod V6 with the electricnoic 460L trans and the standard diff). I do know the Falcon Ute for the Borg Warner Hydratrack LSD diff as did the Falcon wagon frommthay era with the V8 engine.
Actually, speaking of Transmissions... Will the stock auto gearbox behind the L-36 ectotech handle a mild NA build ('stage 1 cam kit max' levels)? Anything obvious I should do to strengthen it up? (Or recomendations for easy swaps should you recomend that route?)
@@STREETMACHINETV - I was aiming for the 200-250rrkw range, so that sounds pretty close to spot on! Thanks! I'll have to look into local shops that might be able to do the 'valve body' work... If no one else, the Rod Shop could probably do it.
Good stuff. Getting there. Looks like a GREENS-TUF like project in the background that you hinted towards a month or so ago. Dear editor, please stop with the music and talking at the same time. Un warranted and makes concentration difficult. cheers.
Turbo taxi and project bluebird are more in my real-world affordability range. These builds with huge money 'to just get it running' are irrelevant for me. I feel like there needs to be a share between budget builds and bigger dollar examples. I'd be keen to see a budget burnout car made from wrecker parts, standard powertrain components modified where needed (weld it, grind it) and that will be far more relevant to most. Love you, Scotty and team, I look forward to managing from here on. Lol
It's Friday, it's lunch time, I've got a cold beer and a Carnage episode to watch... life is good.
Couldn’t have said it better bro 👊👍💪👌
Another (quiet) early morning shift and another dose of Carnage... hell yeah!
As another channel sign-off saying " GO DO SOME WORK SON " 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Enjoy, if possible, your shift.

Best way to start a Friday Morning loving this build Scotty keep up the good work👍
Always makes my Friday morning before work, a nice video of carnage, amazing work Scotty and the team
It's happening Scotty, it's REALLY HAPPENING! Feels like such a jump forward with the piping done. Bloody hell I'm loving this.
Ben did an excellent job with the turbo. Considering Scotty you were pulling your hair out over the build, it's going great & I can't wait until it's finished.
Bloody good tradesman that Ben is !!!! Smashed it out the park with all that fab👍🍻
Fab work looks amazing!
awesome fabrication Ben..................
Continuing the great work as always Scotty! Loving the progress on the Lexcen! Keep it up mate!
Great episode Scotty, sharp and to the point.
Ben is an artist with the piping and welder, looking forward to seeing more of him.
Those boost claps are cool. Never seen them, makes a lot more sense the silicon hose and clamps.
Lovin the series guys keep up the great work!
Looking awesome mate 👍
Love this car mate. Can not wait to see the finished product. As always, thanks for sharing and going through the pain for our pleasure!! 🙂 Appreciate it.
Super neat fab work. So glad to see it all fits unfer the bonnet.
Fridays are always better when that notification pops up! Love your work guys
Awesome! Thank you!
This is actually a great build, I can't wait for Friday to see more, I didn't think I'd be so keen on a Toyota-dore, lovin it 🤙
Factory intake manifold is beautiful! Matches the rest of the V8 perfectly. Glad you ditched the LS intake. I wonder if the factory manifold would benefit from a nice port job though if it’s a bottleneck in the system.
Scotty mate cant wait till she breathing fire buddy, keep up the great work mate.🚗🚗🚓🚓✌✌😀😀👍👍
Cant wait to see this thing launch Scotty! Take me with you 😀
You guys are getting it done fast. Nice work
Great work Scotty coming along nicely mate 👌
Looking good Scotty love the vids.
I always look forward to your show on a Friday 😊. It's nice you have the same struggles but you charge on.
Thanks so much!!

How good does that engine bay look?
This lexcen is certainly going to turn a few heads, can’t wait to see the outcome of this donk in the old girl.
FARK, Ben at Top G Fab really knocked it out of the park!
Nothing like a bit of Pipe porn first thing in the morning :-)
Yeah buddy 🚀👌🏻
Loving the build! So close.. but got to ask, when are we getting an update on the Hemi-rana ?!
When it gets approval

How's the fan shroud clearance?
Also you now have an RB30 VL spec radiator?
Anybody notice the stock L67 in the background next to MX-5?
Hell yes
I seem to say this about each of the carnage projects but this is now my favorite. Closely followed by turbo taxi. Great work scotty.
Is there any chance to chance aircon or its just all to tight now?
We'll look into that later. Right now I just want to get the car running
G'day Scotty, going completely off-topic, where are you managing to get your KT26's? Can't find them anywhere (at least in Cairns).
Speak to G-Force Race Solutions, he knows how to make those A340’s take a beating and live 👍
Nice fabrication... Here's hoping the radiator pipes were purge welded tho 🧐 (noticed the exhaust wasn't, that's not a huge thing, but the water pipes should be for longevity)
Well it’s better the battery in the back, better than in the rear…… that’s what she said ….lol yeahhhhhhhhhh got one in !!!!!Yout turn Scottie. 😅 lol

@@Brettj77 yeah, totally agree, no one cares too much.
To drive around, anyone would be happy, but it's done and dusted online I suppose.
Excellent work, even looks better in a Toyota😁
nice to see work get done in a reasonable time when you pay for it
It sure is
Make sure the expansion joint doesnt have an internal flexible gause. Itll just melt and roll up and block the cross over. Looking good 👍
It doesn't

Adapt.
Overcome.
Improvise.
Oorah
Yep, that's the way
OOoh no - his dog has melted ;)
I look forward to Friday morning for a Scotty fix! She's coming along well. Did you sell the Trollvo 2J?
The engine is sold
Shame to dump yota A340 & go 400 but I reckon this will be a great multi purpose car for you Scotty.
you might want to also upgrade the rear diff:1.
Was that a metallic green Torana in the background?
We will, we've been waiting until we decided on the transmission because that makes an impact on the rear gear

Is there a car or two missing from the carnage workshop, or has it just had a good cleanup. Haven’t seen the green torana up front for a long while 👌
It wasn't raining, so we parked a few outside
What do you think the car will weigh when all said and done!? Im eager to see it run a number
We'll weigh it when we're done but probably 1400kg or so
Hopefully the turbos efficiency isn’t too impacted by the location of the waste gate dump.
Should be fine
Actually, speaking of Transmissions... Will the stock auto gearbox behind the L-36 ectotech handle a mild NA build ('stage 1 cam kit max' levels)? Anything obvious I should do to strengthen it up? (Or recomendations for easy swaps should you recomend that route?)
Depends on the power you're aiming for. Our Turbo 700 has an aftermarket valve body but the rest is all stock and handles 300rwhp or thereabouts
@@STREETMACHINETV - I was aiming for the 200-250rrkw range, so that sounds pretty close to spot on! Thanks! I'll have to look into local shops that might be able to do the 'valve body' work... If no one else, the Rod Shop could probably do it.

@@STREETMACHINETV - I'd better go track it down! Thanks again! Maybe I'll see you and/or the SM crew out at Heathcote some time!
Wouldn’t ya need some silicone joints to allow for motor flex?
There won't be much flex with the mounts we have, and the boost clamps allow some deflection
Can’t beat a new carnage episode.
What about boost creep?
PLEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSE bring back to $2K challenge cars and make the budget $5K
Maybe one day
I'd love to know who done the piping i got some plumbing need done
Top G Fabrication in Seaford
What size did you step the up pipes to out of the headers?
2.5in
I seriously can't wait to see this thing ripping down the 1320 because it's really going to rip!
Fuck Ben does a nice weld!!!!!
He sure does, and fast!
Hey bud what happened to the lexen videos
Working on it now
woohoo
Every Toyota needs a Wuhan War Whistle 😜
DOES THIS MEAN I CAN TURBO MY LS400 1998????
I couldn't help staring at the LC , the Lexadore is nice and all but...

Dear editor, please stop with the music and talking at the same time. Un warranted and makes concentration difficult. cheers.
C'mon, why didn't Scotty just send it?
Scotty proof... But is it Bubba proof?
Is Ben a dentist?
BTW why doesn't Trolvo need the 400 any more?
Because I've pulled it apart. We sold the engine the other day
@@STREETMACHINETV Cheers - I missed an ep.
I still can't believe your wrecking the Trolvo to make this piece of crap. It's cursed lol.
The Trolvo was plenty cursed back at the start. The beauty with this is we'll be able to drive it on the street

The Lexcen is still budget compared with most builds. Budget cars are fun, but we can't imagine many being excited with a budget burnout car
