    Very useful. Thank you👌 I am working as a Quality Engineer and many times when I searched Indeed to see whats are new offers on market, I saw QE automation. I always was wondering what's about. It sound interesting and slowly will try to learn something about it and who knows, maybe job change in future.

    do you have to be a manual tester first to be an automation test?

      It’s recommended. Every company I’ve worked for required at least 12 months manual before they’d consider someone for an automation role (unless they were a programmer previously).

      yeah sounds about right. it’s less common but remember that there’s also: software developer in test - as an option. less common but this can also be entered into without prior manual testing knowledge. they are essentially a coding engineer but focus heavily on test coverage

      @@callummander Yep, that's what I do. I develop test automation suites (mainly in playwright), as well as developing tools that the testing team require.
