- Collection of historical footage showing the Dornier Do24K flyingboat in service of the Marine Luchtvaartdienst ( MLD, Netherlands naval airservice) and during sea trials prior to its operational period.
excellent footage. thanks.
The Dutch Do24s were used against the Japanese in 1941 - 1942
until the fall of the Netherlands Indies in early March.
Many Do24s were able to make their way to Australia.
The Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in April would help dampen somewhat their banzais.
That chair at the end, good lord!
That thing was made for torture. I cannot imagine sitting there for hours
Gorm Auslande : sieht brutal hart aus, allerdings sitzt der Pilot auf seinem Fallschirm, nicht wirklich bequem, aber besser
@@wolfgangwind788 I would grab another for my back! 😆
During WWII my dad was a PT Boat commander in the Philippines. They hid the boat at daylight under a camouflage net in protected shore location. He told me their source of supply was a Royal Dutch Navy DO 24K which flew from Australia. He said they made numerous flights. He thought the DO 24 K was one tough aircraft. The crew and plane were originally from the Dutch Naval Base in the Dutch East Indies.
Thanks for sharing!
Was für ein schönes Flugzeug. Es gibt noch ein flugfähiges Exemplar.
Mooi filmpje. Kleuropname met Duitse registratie (hakenkruis), ook met oranje driehoek.
The orange triangle is dutch, yes?
Danke Opa
