WOW. It was the first competishiond Grishuk & Platov together after junior. Oksana was 18 years old. In 1998 they became the only ice-dance couple in sport history, who has won two Olympic Games.
I've never really been a huge fan of this team... but that was very good, lots of times they were in very simple hold and quite far apart from each other, but I like this way more than their Olympic 1994 FD!
They had only been skating together for a short time when they showed up to these Worlds. Platov said that it look a long time for them to get used to one another as they had been trained very very differently. Grishuk was very much a Linichuk-type skater who powered across the ice but paid little attention to her free leg, where her feet were pointed, or her posture. Apparently ballet was something new to Oksana when she was paired up with Platov and started training under Dubova. You can see the major improvements to their skating (as a team) by the time 1991 and 1992 came around.

@@azbycx56 I bet Oksana had lots of ballet training when she was younger in Odessa before going to Linichuk.
No I didn’t have a lot of ballet training . I didn’t like ballet when I was younger which I of course regret now
