ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RUclips and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
You say you are not an expert but your reputation says otherwise! Your years of experience and proper percentages shows you DO know a thing or two!! Keep up the good work! Enjoy life wherever it may take you!
How wonderful. I live in Germany, and there definetly are plenty of sheep here in the Eifel where I live. It's also beautiful. I live 15 mins from the racing track Nürburgring. I'm so proud of the farmers here in Germany. It's been crazy but wonderful to see all the people standing up to the Goverment.
Cammy-James Bondish adventure🎉
Cammy, I am so glad you get to go to different areas and experience different ways of doing things. It helps to broaden your horizons. Makes you think about different things. Good luck, my dear friend. Sending love to you, Lizzy and the boys from Oklahoma.
Thank you so much!
Oklahoma the musical classic👌❤️💪👨🌾
Thanks for taking us along, very interesting. I like that Simon came up with the perfect thing to make the scanning stand narrower. Evidently there wasn't a farmer consultant when it was designed!
Great to see and experience different ways of doing things. Well done Cammy
That was an EXCELLENT VLOG! You made scanning lots of fun. Thanks for sharing you journey! Love from the USA!
Absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage and a very interesting video to watch .. thanks again Cammy
I hope you like our corner of the world, Cammy! :D
It's not flat everywhere btw, we got some impressive looking areas like the Schwarzwald type terrains (some with impressive waterfalls) or stuff more mountain-ish like Teutoburg Externsteine! 💖
Up north stuff is rather flat but you can find many interesting landscapes. I found a list with stuff even I myself didn't know, totally worth a look if I may say so:
- Devil's Bridge
- Bastei Bridge
- Schrecksee
- Lake Eibsee (this one is amazing, Bavaria has the best landscapes tbh)
- Rügen Island
- Königssee Lake
- Blautopf
- Röthbachfall (found this outside the list but it's impressive to me too)
- Buchenegger Waterfalls (to avoid confusion, this is NOT the n-word you see XD Buchen = beech trees + egger = middlehigh german for corner)
- Teutoburg Externsteine (adding these again just in case)
I love the little lessons about the differences between our and your equipments. It's always interesting to see/hear stuff like that. :)
Your german pronounciation is VERY good by the way. I love hearing you speak~
Thank you for the info! 😁
@@TheSheepGame You're welcome~. Maybe next time you can find some farmers to help in another one of those areas when you come over here. Or maybe a lost sheep might need your help again. ;D
Cammy this was just wonderful! I was smiling for you the whole time. What a great opportunity to travel to teach and work, and to be a great teacher. You're a builder and connector! Congrats!
I love when you take us in a trip. It's the only way I can travel. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Cammy thank you for your brilliant vlog, thoroughly enjoyed it, so nice to see other sheep farmers abroad. Very much appreciated, big hugs to you and your family, Sue & Ben (Woodhall Spa)xx
Thanks for taking us along on this trip! ❤❤❤
Excellent footage Cammy, very interesting! Business class is always a nice upgrade!
As always, Cammy, an absolute treat to watch you work and interact with people as only you can!! Nice to see you treat yourself to an upgrade, while you are forced to sit down and relax. Love you and your sweet family. ❤
Nice video Cammy. Nice to see people working together and giving each other a helping hand. ❤❤
It's great to see the different ways people do the same things in different countries. Part of my family is from Germany.
Enjoyed you trip Cammie. 🇳🇿
Love listening to Cammie Love the accent!
😊 thank you
Even in the your fans in the United States know you deserve to fly first class every time. Your work is tremendous 🇺🇸
🇨🇦 when you initially showed the extra wide scanner. The first thing in my mind . “What if you put something on the one side to make it narrower.” Then I had to laugh out loud because you guys did you use the skid to narrow the passage down …. 😊great minds think alike.
Thanks for taking us along.❤❤❤
Thank you Cammy. That was very enjoyable. I am always surprised st how many types of sheep there are. 👍😊👍
Hello Cammy. Great getting ti see your trip like this. LOL WOW You never heard of McDonald's? They are all over the world. We have them in Green Bay Wisconsin where I live. I eaten there food most of my life. The McDonald's brothers opens there first McDonald's restaurant on May 15 in 1940. in San Bernardion, California. It was the Originally. It was a Carhop drive-in system, was used to serve customers. & the first McDonald's opened in Germany on December 4, 1971. in Martin- Luther-Strasse, Munich.
Cammy is showing a bit of UK humer when he says he has never heard of Mc Donalds 😂
✈️
Just a bit of Scottish banter 😁
Sorry Cammy I wanted to say Scoootish humour but did not know if there was 5 or 6 Os in Scottish so said UK also I find a little in my spelling of humour I tried hummer but it looked a bit like American 4X4 truck 😂
Very interesting Vlog Cammy. Thank you for sharing.
Good to see you again.
This was very interesting. Its okay to give yourself a bit of a treat once in a while. I have been at the Club, Aspire, it is a nice one (my treat to myself on my flight from Montreal to Shetland during Wool Week. Take care.
Kudos to mention the farmers protesting, a huge movement ignored by the mainstream.
Thanks Cammy, it’s good to see practices in other countries 👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great video Cammy and it’s great to see how things work in different countries 💪👌
Absolutely fantastic and so informative thanks for bringing us along ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What's this, Cammy does Europe 😂
❤loved the video Cammy ! Very cool!!
Fabulous show Cammy! ❤️🇦🇺🏴
Lovely clean sheep ! Very interesting to watch xx
Scanning is something I would like to learn, unfortunately there are not many scanners here in Sweden.
Glad the clean screen didn't throw you off your game 😂😂😂😂
A boy Cammy another good video 👍.
Really enjoyed this video. You went to a lot of effort to make this video, we appreciate it.
Those ewes looked like big girls, cracking looking sheep.
That’s a long way to go for scanning but very interesting ❤
Excellent video was very interested in the equipment they use
This is great stuff! I would love to see a how to on scanning and how to run an ovi scan. I have thought about trying my hand at scanning.
The first bunch of sheep were so CLEAN!!!! Interesting to travel to new countries isn't it?
😊 busman's holiday, keep us updated on the farmers strike
Great video Cammy 😊❤
Great video, I was really impressed the sheep understood your Ayrshire accent no problem 😂
That was an excellent video . .. Cammy....
They were super ewes in an unusual set up ..Big loose shed !!.
Would love to see how they manage them ewes , where they graze them and how do they manage lambing and post lambing ..
Another video maybe ...
Cammy, you had a nice trip to Germany via Denmark. You must be very popular to travel around like you do, having a great reputation. Big sheep. Have a good time there and enjoy their geography.❤️👍
Thank you cammy 😊❤
why do i hear a sheep at 2:45 in the airport? is that your ring tone?🙂
U must have the same illness i have 🤣
Cammy if you are flying any time over 3.5 hrs it’s worth flying business, flying from Australia is all over those and gets you access to great lounges, depending who you are flying with. Even as ex QF staff we choose to fly Singapore Airlines, to chill out in . Totally worth it and that’s ex airline staff
We did a leg with KLM on our way to London, they were fantastic.courteous and extremely helpful. Mind that was via Munich & not Frankfurt which when we flew in via Lufthansa was shocking … not recommended.
It's never enough. Even if you showed an hour you have a knack for leaving us wanting more.😂
🤣🤣🤣 there’s a McDonalds on every corner in the US. Great to experience this trip with you 🙌🏻
so interesting! thankyou!🦌💌❤️❤️❤️🐑
Great video 😊😊😊
We need that calendar Cammie lol
Really good video
You have to ask Simon to send lambing clips
Great video ,❤
McDonald’s ….don’t eat it…a heart attack in a bag! Wonderful Vlog! Love you and your sheep 🐑
Hi Cammy, Great video! Was wondering if you could do a review/update on flockwatch?
I use airplane ears when I fly. I think that what they are called and you can get them at airports in the US.
Take care Cammy. X
Great video as always cammy. Has lizzy started her channel yet if so whats the name of her channel. Thanks fir sharing with us
Not yet! We have her first vlog ready to go though! 😁
It is hard to count at 100 days. I generally encourage my customers to get them done much earlier. Can the scanner open that front gate on the crate?
We’re so lucky here in Scotland that most sheep aren’t that fat and it’s rare to have over 200% scannings. Yeah I didn’t show the crate well enough. It works off a foot pedal and it was actually really easy to use. The gate being the wrong way round wasn’t ab issue at all. 👍
Cammie:L I enjoyed your comments about the airport at Edinburgh>. My experience there was good as well! Thanks for sharing your adventure of this scanning trip> Very interesting.
For the first three minutes of this one, I wasn't sure if I was watching The Sheep Game or Steve Marsh! Love you both but that messed with my head for a bit!! 🙃 By 04:30 all was right with the world again!!
Noticed a lot of rumenco ads on lately 😂 I bet your sponsor is happy 😂😂
Simon so ein Boss
Did i see small square bales of straw overhead in the shed. For bedding?
Were they able to drop them down from various places or just at the sides
Yeah! At last a video I needed no translation (from Scottish) 😂. Your German is not bad 👍
Good Morning
Those were big sheep! Must have a big carcass on the lambs
That was a fun trip. Business class is a bit more comfy than cattle class. The lounge along with the seat is ok for that bit extra money. As a non drinker I don't get the full value of the lounge experience but use it occasionally to have a bit better of a rest place ahead of boarding.
You sounded a bit full of snotter...did you have a cold ? That makes the pressure change on a flight much more painful than normal.
A few of those sheep did look to be limping as you said. They will treat for foot rot and hopefully fix them up.
The subsidiaries to farmers in Scotland will increasingly be focused on land management for the best environmental protection, more than just for product outputs. Will that affect your operation in Ayrshire ?
Yeah Jimmy i had a bit of a cold then! Re the subsidies it’s hard to know how it will effect me. I don’t get many subsidies and the small bits i do get only cover the increased rent on those parcels of land.
Usually quite articulate in explaining how n why but not so much this time, so they flew someone from Kilmarnock to Germany to show vets how to scan sheep! Suppose should be grateful we got to see some scanning.
With so many lambs per ewe do they keep 2 on the ewe then machine feed the remainder.? Would be great to see the lambing process and the lamb rearing.
They keep the triplets on the ewes and feed them well. 👍
When you landed at Amsterdam when you were in the airport on the video did anyone hear the sheep 😅 at video 2.46
Widden pallets!! 🤣🤣
Cami, can you tell us more why you went to Germany etc?
Cammy, try chewing gum to equalize your ears on flights. There are other methods like holding your nose or exaggerated yawn. But gum worked for my kids when they were young.
If you have a cold or allergies try taking a decongestant before the flight(subject to your doctor approval of course)
I know the pain, I went diving with allergies burst my eardrum. I now sympathize with kids with earaches.
It's difficult to get good food while flying because the air pressure changes taste perception.
❤
No free half-naked men in kilts calendar with business class?
🤣
Interesting video. Where does the black influence in those sheep come from? Can texels have some black?
👍❤️
👍👍❤🐑
What did yiu think about the sheds?
Those are so good looking sheep.🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Get some gum for the ear popping
How many lambs were some having
I hope our farmers in the UK do the same if our 'government' try to do the same as in the eu.
Vegetables?? In Edinburgh???
WHY was there a sheep "baaaa" in the AIRPORT scene???
Top 5 first views 😂
🐨👍
how much $ per ewe does it cost
Interesting didnt see any herding dogs doing the hard work!
Rubbish Cammy you know you are an excellent scanner. I think your Icelandic adventure looked much more fun.
I had more time there😁. This was just a 1 day thing☺️
The reason “they” drive on the right side is because almost the entire world knows it’s the right side.
Cam try chewing gum while flying. It helps equalize your ears.
