      @@joshvonbosch there was an old chart that showed all the loyalist chapters geneseed mutation rate and the salamanders ironically had the highest at 90%, since it has been proven that nocturne star does damage the Melanchromic organ changing their skin to an ebony black since the orginal terran recruits did not have the ebony skin tone and only turned after being exposed to nocturne star. This is also probably why they have never been able to officially sire a successor chapter as they don't generate as much geneseed as the other chapters. It can therefore be inferred that nocturne star has been degrading the geneseed for millennium.

    I think Vulkan is the primarch that Guilliman needs most atm. wouldn't go off on his own like Russ or Jaghatai, wouldn't argue against Guilliman being Lord Commander like the Lion or Corax would. A good commander but also a brother. just don't throw yourself in the ork hole again!

      @@wonderfred I don’t think he would honestly. Because it’s a similar state to how he found the imperium during the war of the beast. He’d know that Guilliman trying to upset things with the high lords with the imperium in the state it’s in would simply destroy the empire. Which is the same reason he didn’t kill them last time. He might not like what the imperium has become, but he’s no fool. He knows trying to change things too quickly would just destroy it all.

    I'm quite puzzled on why Imperium Secundus is such an issue, a sword hanging over Guilliman's head. It has been overblown tbh.. The Lion was in on it and the one and only Sanguinius was in on it. It has more to do with the current imperium and the ecclesiarchy, cult of the emperor and all that. I mean think about the foreshadowing GW has done recently revolving around imperium secundes, i.e. nihilis. The board is set exactly the same as it was in 30k with dark angels, blood angels and ultramarine. Guilliman, Dante, the lion, all assembling again, sanguinius or should I say Dante being named commander of nihilis just like secundus. There's also the nurgle demon in guillimans library that gave the book about imperium secundus to Matthew in hopes of starting up the fire. There's much more, but yeah gw is setting the stage in a mirror of events in 30k. The lion will be here soon, Mark my words.

    To be fair to Guilliman, Vulkan can't say a thing about Imperium Secundus being a back up plan, when he was given the task of blowing up Terra as a back up plan.
    I would love to have Vulkan return since Guilliman could use the kinship. I think the Lion will come back first to help face down Angron. Vulkan will return after that to smooth out the relationship between the Lion and Guilliman to face off against an even bigger threat that would require all three of them to fight together flawlessly to survive. So, this is something I’m dreaming up, as I haven’t read any of these books, but listened to a bunch of Salamander lore (so Salamander bias) but I think it would be much more interesting to have it that Magnus isn’t angry with Vulkan, but playing with Magnus guilt, that he deserved what his brother did to him. I imagine there is still some brotherly love between them, and it become just a tragic tale of two brothers who would do anything to have each other back in there lives, but can’t. 40K thrives on rivalry, but I think a quiet sadness and regrets between parties can be just as grim dark. Besides, he already has the rivalry for Leman, so a new angle would be appreciated.

    • @peterlepper5199
      @peterlepper5199 Год назад

      Magnus is absolutely angry with Vulkan. I mean there is lots of sadness involved, but when it comes to Vulkan I can't see Magnus feeling a lot of guilt. Vulkan tried to convince Magnus to give up the Thousand Sons and come back.
      "'Please, brother,' said Vulkan, taking a step towards him. 'Come back to us.'
      Magnus turned as he heard the clatter of legionary warplate, and the ratcheting of boltguns. Three warriors clad in the livery of the Salamanders Legion crested the summit of the great golden dais. Magnus felt their joy at seeing their gene-sire, but at first sight of the Emperor, they instinctively fell to their knees in adoration, all but overcome by His incredible presence.
      Magnus turned back to Vulkan and said, 'Would you sacrifice them? Would you betray even *one* of them for your own desire?'
      'I could not,' he said, his deep tones heavy with grief and his right hand sliding down to the warhammer Urdrakule at his belt.
      Magnus felt the end of his staff transform, becoming a bladed spear-tip once more.
      'Then why would you believe that I could?' he roared."
      - Fury of Magnus, by Graham McNeill
      During the fight that follows, Magnus 100% would have killed Vulkan if not for one of his sons "Look out, sir"ing him and giving Magnus a crisis of conscience.

    Perhaps I'm missing something in the lore or from a previous discussion, but why is the Imperium Segundus perceived as such a terrible thing. Why would primsrchs and the imperium at large consider it a dark mark, those who know surely realize it was literally what the emperor intended when he creates Gulliman, he operating exactly as he was designed?

    • @jonoroba1
      @jonoroba1 Год назад +1

      It probably has something to do with how those not in the know would perceive it as it was a backup plan made by the emperor, and we all know how he likes to reveal his plans, so those people are now the ones in power and would probably see it as a slight against the emperors vision

    I think if Vulkan came back, he would be upset about all the politics that Guilliman is engaged in, including his dealings with the church and xenos. If anything, Guilliman's greatest challenge would be getting Vulkan to agree with his current priority of stabilizing the Imperium rather than purging its rotten elements.

    I think things would go rather well if Vulkan returned. And I agree that I think he’d want to cross the rift. I also think Guilliman would agree that him doing so was the best option, even tho it would mean he wouldn’t be seeing his brother as much. He’d know that having Vulkan on the other side to help Dante would be he best option.

      It would be more accurate to say that Vulkan basically had a deathwish after the Horus Heresy and wanted a permanent death, which appears to have been granted by the Beast.
      If you want to talk about Primarchs who ran away look no further then Leman Russ who chose to invade the Eye of Terror rather then becoming the leader the Imperium needed.

    With the Lion's return the legions we begin to reform. The Lion will ignore the codex Guilliman will aquecy because he looks up to the Lion. So even if Vulkan comes back it won't be before the Lion so any conversation about chapter or legion will be moot.

    Is not convinced, Magnus and Vulkan looked at each other in sorrow but understanding of what both had to do. I am not convinced Magnus would hold a grudge and to be fair in that battle he went above and beyond his duel with Russ, brutalizing Vulkan beneath him and killing Salamanders left and right, Magnus had to know it was battle to the death and why later he was not taking vengeance on all related to Vulkan ergo Salamanders but turned Fenris system into an even worse hellhole.

    The whole Imperium Secundus thing is a plot thread that needs to just die. They want it to be some sort of shameful blunder by Guilliman, but the books make it pretty clear that traveling to Terra was *impossible* at the time. Literally every loyal primarch that heard of Imperium Secundus was on board with it, and Guilliman immediately abandoned the idea once he learned that Terra hadn’t fallen, just like he said he would. The writers have been trying and failing to make this seem like some sort of controversy for a decade now.
