I remember one night in 96 Michael Alego the guy who signed Metallica to Elektra did the same thing at the Dixie tavern scouting ehg. He was scouting them for Geffen at the time. I think the excesses of New Orleans got the best of them that's why they were passed out unfortunately and missed out on some great bands!! I really wish Acid Bath would have signed with Monte instead. Sammy and the guys are great dudes and I'm very proud of them!!
If AB had been signed to Roadrunner Records... They probably would have made it pretty big (at least bigger than they currently are). RR promoted their bands really well in the 90's and also had awesome tour packages. I could see RR putting AB on tour with other RR bands at that time like Type O Negative, Machine Head, Exhorder, etc. I can't believe Monte Connor fell asleep at the AB show though! He isn't known to partake in drugs or alcohol very often. Must've been the jet lag. 🤣
century media would have been better, but century was a european label, prob why ehg did not like them, however, ehg were also junkies, so did their opinion even matter?

Holy shit man I remember The Jungle. I remember playing a show there with my crappy band in the mid nineties. We opened for Forbidden Glory and I remember hearing Acid Bath had just played there and thinking how lucky I was to be playing there. Good times.
how the FUCK does any human being fall asleep when Acid Bath are playing right in front of them?? Even if you aren't a extreme metal fan, their songs wild sporadic dynamics alone should wake your ass UP😳
Heya Sammy.. MadMax here.. Again lmmfao! 😈 always wondered how you guys wound up with Rotten/Spike Cassidy!!! Funny thing is I know him..or at least we ( NOTA ) Used to di shows with them in the early eighties!!! And last one we opened for them # the same place I saw AB!! I think your show was prior to ours by a month or so. I basically met him during our sound check and partied throughout the evening with DRI. I love DRI..But no where near the passion I have for AcidBath!!! AB spoke to me..or I actually bought the lp just before my son died..and " Kite String Pops" , Carcass "Heartwork" and Machine Heads debut "Burn My Eye's" were on rotation for quite some time!!!! Again.. the other two are epic. But AcidBath KSP truly touched my soul!!!! All the anger..disrott.. pain..etc just FULL of the emotions I was feeling all rolled up in one!! I couldn't stop listening to it..still a daily if not every other day..it or" Paegan Terrorism Tactics "!!!!!!! One of the two. If not both back to back!! Thx 4 sharing what I always wondered!! Tell Spike to grow up and release your material.. Especially for RUclips!!! The exposure is priceless. Incredible network tool!! Love..Peace and Hair-Grease!! mdc, Tulsa
Hell yeah brother. I loved those Carcass and Machine Head albums! Acid Bath would've fit right in with RR records. Rotten Records is awful and really petty! Robb Flynn of Machine Head did a cool podcast interview with Monte Connor over a year ago. Pretty sure Monte brought up the AB story. I'll have to find the link and see.
Sammy everything you play on is just pure art brother metal to the soul or for the soul your my fav guitarist have been for 20 years !!! Scream of the butterfly was my first song heard from acid bath I was hooked man right away I learned in guitar then years later my buddy comes over with goatwhore and I heard clawing out the eyes of god and was in love man bless you brother bless you lol
I don't think I've ever fell asleep to Acid Bath but there was a time when my neighbor was making a lot of noise with his tractor and shit when I would get home in the morning from the graveyard shift and I would turn Bolt Thrower on full blast and fall asleep to it.
Acid Bath is the best kept secret in music. And because of that fact, it's the biggest crime in music. I can only think about all the music we never got because they died a premature death. But I guess in a way, it makes the music that does exist, that much more important.
From I've heard they're getting more popular cause the kids are making tik toks with it lol. Idk but I remember first exposed to it in high school a friend of mine had the album. This was probably 99/2000 but yeah crazy they had such a short career but became so popular compared to other Nola bands. Soilent Green was another I always felt were slept on
I guess there's multiple reasons you could fall asleep to Acid Bath, I used to fall asleep to them when I was in high school, because I just loved sleeping on the bus ride home while listening to music, and slept in the back of my mother's car as a child while she played Dax's solo LPs. Dax just has a very angelic voice. But for that guy, he probably found them boring or he was just very unprofessional. Acid Bath were way ahead of their time, how could you fall asleep during a set?
@@MyDemon32 it does but your not going to make any $ but you can break even. You just got to self promote and draw ppl in New ways. The only real issue is sounding groundbreaking. Most everthing has been done in metal besides mixing old school doom metal with meshuggah like djent and using polar opposite guitar tones and vocals together. So far I have not heard raw and loose doom mixed with clean and percussive chugging djent.
@@MRSludgedude it is VERY true, metal has gotten stagnant, why I just listen the 80's and 90's albums like I always have, some good stuff in the 00's too.

Hey man. Can you ask Sammy what he thinks of plugs for low volume practice vs amps.
He had good taste is shows!
Nobody comes here and sees a show like Acid Bath, or Exhorder anymore! It's all jam jazz
Id like to see dax and samny come back with a,new band. Two singers. One doing death metal growls and dax on cleans.
I can't help but wonder what would've happened if Acid Bath signed to Century Media or Roadrunner instead of Rotten.
It would mean their videos would still be up on youtube lol
Hell, you’d probably see them on Ozzfest.

I could have handled them better than Rotten.

That's a fantastic and really accurate quote. The major music industry is just evil.
no respect for thompson but a legit quote.
Must have fell asleep during Dax’s poetry
I like that Black Sunday tee, Sammy has good taste in movies.

Always wondered about that. In hindsight, should have paid off some groupies to take one for the team and wake him up lol
I love the way he tells stories

Who the hell falls asleep during that? I would give anything to be sent back to see them live just once. I was just a little too young then 😭
That dude that fell asleep fucked up big time
I was born, raised, and I still live in the city of Gretna, LA. This city is cool.....just don't get pulled over by the cops
Roadrunner road racer 🤓

The guy from CM was probably Steve Joh. Maybe.
Hey Sammy, do you remember a guy named Siro Penino?
