Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico - Merida is an a beautiful, well organized, clean, and friendly city in Mexico, and the capital of the Yucatan State. We only had one full day in Merida on this trip, and so we wanted to make the most of it. I’m taking you on a one day Mexican street food and attractions tour of Merida!
Taqueria La Lupita - In the morning we first headed to a local market to eat breakfast. Taqueria La Lupita is a very cool breakfast spot where you can eat local Mexican Yucatan food. We tried some tacos de conchinta pibil, panuchos, relleno negro, and mondongo kabi. The panuchos were the winner.
Total price - 238 MXN ($12.64) for all
Maiz, Canela y Cilantro - It’s always good to have breakfast number 2, and this wasn’t a street food spot, but a nice cafe, and great for families. The reason I wanted to come here was to try their version of Huevos Motuleños, a Mexican egg dish originating from a small town of the same name not far away. It was a stunner.
Total price - 300 MXN ($15.94) for all
Plaza Grande and Horse Ride - Moving on to some of the sightseeing and attractions in Merida, we walked around Plaza Grande and took a horse ride to see some sights around the city. It was wonderful, to enjoy Merida from a horse carriage.
Mango - 15 MXN ($0.80) - One our way to the market, we stopped for a mango. Always delicious!
Mercado Lucas de Galvez - For lunch we headed to one of the main markets in the center of Merida called Mercado Lucas de Galvez. After walking around for a while we went upstairs and found a couple friendly aunties who cooked up a storm. We tried their, mole, relleno negro again, and sopa de Lima, which was the ultimate dish of the day for me.
Total price - 300 MXN ($15.94) for all
Restaurant y Cockteleria Tikinxic II - Finally for dinner I had really wanted to try a Mayan fish dish called tikin xic before leaving the Yucatan, so we searched out a Mexican seafood restaurant to try. It was a little outside of the center of the city, but it was pretty good.
Total price - 758 MXN ($40.27) for all
This was a fantastic day of Mexican street food in Merida. Merida is one of the most pleasant cities to explore in Mexico!

Irish American and live in Arizona, but my chief culinary weakness is Mexican food. If anyone asks me, "What do you want to eat?", nine times out of ten, I'll say "MEXICAN!!!". Can't help myself. I love the entire culture, really. Nicest people. If it weren't for Mexicans, Arizona culture would be blaaaahhhh.

Sir, you are the only person I know (physically or virtually) that truly won't ever regret nothing when the time comes to pass away (I believe at least 90 years from now). Believe me, many people in the world just exist, but they don't live. And you Mark, have a life that thousands or even millions of viewers here on RUclips would be willing to live, including myself. Cheers and keep rolling across the globe in this quest of the most delicious dishes in the world!
    Peace from Mexico

The food from Merida sings to me all the way from Yucatan,Mexico.Such wondrous delights that sing on the tongue, nostrils and eyes, just how much more hidden delights does Mexico have to offer? It is overwhelming and eschews all the movie depiction of Mexico,a cultural delight in a fascinating sea of the Americas.Thank you so much for enlightening us all to this beautiful country through its magnificent food and her wonderful people.

That's where I want to go! I've been to many parts, but not the Yucatan. And I want to try Oxacan cuisine too! Love Mexican food! I wish I was still living in California. It was so easy to head to Mexico. I even loved Tijuana. The street food is so good! I used to buy all the tamales, from the lady selling them! 😆 Miss my rolled taquitos, menudo, carne asada burrito, churros and oh tequilaaaaaa 😆👍😊

Micah is such a cute little boy and he looked gorgeous in his new shirt. It was great to see him running around. He is growing up so quickly. I went to Mexico when I was 13 but we only went to Tijuana on a day trip. I remember being quite overwhelmed with people trying to sell us things or begging for money. It was really interesting seeing a different part of Mexico and seeing the different food. Thank you Mark, Ying, Micah and friends.

My grandma is from Merida and i grew up eating these dishes (my fave of all is relleno negro and queso relleno), i cant tell you how nostalgic i feel watching this because i currently live in Canada. The sopa the lima looked amazing and so comforting, I enjoyed every bite you gave lol i was literally drooling, i know your reviews are honest and you seem so down to earth. Mexico has awesome food, everywhere you go! But Merida.. Merida is the best ❤ (and i was born in Tabasco!!)

I think Sopa de Lima is big all over the Yucatan. I remember having that in Cozumel almost every night back in the
1960s when I was little and there were less than half a dozen water front hotels there. They were just beginning to build the hotels on Cancun. We chartered a boat with a diver who took us out for the day; dove for the fish for our lunch which was prepared and cooked on a little island with nothing but a barbecue pit and a grass roofed shelter and a few picnic tables. We had cooked fish and lobster and of course fresh fresh Ceviche which Conch that the diver found. Then we explored the little island before taking the boat back to Cozumel and we went by Cancun on the way back and saw the cranes working on building what became the first hotels there. I will never forget that day. We also visited Merida on that trip but I only remember walking around the city there.

This is one of my favorite videos you have made. I shall catalog in it. Love how you took the time to take a horse-drawn carriage with your family instead of cars all the time. I'm still drooling after watching you enjoy the food. I personally love indigenous food and the place does not matter... Five star food of a particular people with their hospitality. I can't wait till I get on the road and experience it. I also enjoy how, you get someone to show you around from the area. Love how you are interacting what the cook and staff or families
