At some point it would be awesome if you could show us how to get the garment ready for distribution or at least to use transfer utility and correct the weight map so it auto fits when the pose is changed instead of having to make a morph for every pose. Thanks for the video.
The interface has changed since I’ve made this video. When you import an OBJ, where it says open in the dialogue, click that and change it to Morph Target.
Thanks for the video! In fact, I followed your steps completely, but encountered a very strange phenomenon. When I import the pose to md, the character always shrinks. When I export obj in daz with size cm, and I also choose cm when importing
NICE WORK Master! do you know to how bring Daz clothes in MD for good clothes simulation? I tried but the result is bad , I wonder how to make a good setting for simulation for animation (my goal is simulation in MD and rendering in UE5)
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it 😃 Sadly there's no magic formula for Daz clothing, some work well, some doesn't. If it's been made with MD originally, and the UVs are layed out, you can try "trace patterns from UVs" on import in MD. This will attempt to re-create pattern pieces, but be aware that you'll have to sew them manually otherwise they fall apart. Without that option, and if the clothing was merged into a single piece of geometry, it'll simulate in MD without falling apart. To improve the fit, I recommend the steam tool to shrink/expand sections of the OBJ clothing. The sculpting tools in MD aren't great, so I'd stay away from those. With the round-trip from MD to UE I have no experience at all, I've seen it done but it's over my head 😂 Hope this helps!
THANK YOU MASTER FOR THE FAST AND DETAILED REPLY, UE5 IS POWERFUL BUT IT'S CLOTHES PHYSICS IS SO WEAK...... I TRIED TO USE THE BOX PIN BUT THE RESULT IS BAD, THE SKIRT BECOME A MESS ONCE THE HAND TOUCH IT....t_t @@WPguru
It's still there, I'm using MD12. You need to import an OBJ first (either avatar or clothing), then import another one. Morph Target will appear under Object Type in the import dialogue.
Excellent tutorial, it was what I needed. Is there a way for the outfit to adjust itself in any pose without having to do a specific simulation for each pose?
Glad to hear it, Marcelo! There's an option to turn the outfit into conforming clothing using the Transfer Utility in DAZ Studio. It'll work well for tight fitting clothing that can follow the figure, but it won't look great on clothes that flare, like skirts or long coats. I'll make a video on that next week.
@@WPguru Thank you!! I'm trying to learn how to make some clothes for small animations. Nothing complex. Just small pieces to cover the character because of youtube censorship (Non nude Character). And in animations the positions are unpredictable, from the moment, to the inspiration. Some pieces of clothing downloaded from the DAZ store are easily adapted to animations, others use D-Force, but I found it interesting to have a knowledge that made it possible that after the clothes were made, I no longer needed the CLO or MD to do simulations and bring back to DAZ, that is, to be more independent. This knowledge would also make it possible to specialize in making clothes to share with the characters created in DAZ (For example, Daz Store). Many thanks, and congratulations from Brazil.
It needs to have the same geometry so that the morph target can be created. Rigging is not necessary for this (the target figure is usually rigged as comforting clothing).
Sometimes I use MD8 to create Morph Loader Pro Dials on Clothing, for poses, by importing the clothing as a garmet, moving it around in the simulation then exporting it. But latley when I do that, I get "Error matching facets" Its changing the Tripology or the base geometry somehow and I dont know whats causing that. Would you be able to help?
Some clothing items have hidden attachments to play nice in dForce. I've noticed that they can cause issues like that. Try exporting from Daz Studio with the option "Filter Objects - Selected Roots" enabled. Make sure parented is de-selected. Let me know if this works.
Thanks for the video. I'm a blender user and facing a problem that my blender to daz bridge wouldn't update to 2.0 no matter what I do. In blender the addon is stuck at version 1.9.9 and in daz central it shows version 1.9.5. I'm so confused. Pls help me.
Sadly I can't help with that. I don't use DAZ Central, nor do I use the DAZ to Blender bridge. Neither app works well for me. I like Teleblender and Diffeomorphic for transfers, and Install Manager for content.
This 2 videos you made are excellent. We all love you. Now can you do one step further. Export A pose with DAZ animation into Clo3D(marvelous) simulate the skirt with DAZ animations in Clo, export cloth animations wiht UV maps and cloth textures via fbx or better mdd and bring it to DAZ . and render EXACT animations with skirt texture there in DAZ in a cat walk show. CAN YOU DO THIS?
Yes that is possible 😎 I've made a video about this in 2015, the principles will still work today. Written instructions are in the description: ruclips.net/video/Wz5AQ8azl4A/видео.html I'll see if I can find some suitable catwalk Mixamo blocks or something along those lines and may turn it into an updated version. If you know any good catwalk animations, please let me know.
@@WPguru Thank you for reply to me, appreciate very much . I have gone through this video several times. Using FBX fabric pokes. and I can not see textures well. I am kind of stuck . I am planning to buy annimate2 plug in and try again. I heard in feedbacks that in Geneses 8 animate 2 pluggin does not work going to Clo and back, with textures. I would appreciate if you can make new fresh video using genesis girl 8. I tried adding animations for genesis 8 via Mixamo and I could not upload ( it timed out) so I am using runaway fashion animations that I bought from daz, animate mastery. I purchased alembic EXporter, Still can not use it . I do not know why. I would appreciate the video. Thank you Darja
Yes absolutely, I'd love to see a simple bridge that works like GoZ: click one button, re-drape in MD, then click another button and it makes/replaces the morph in DS.
Yes, MD is a popular one. There’s also CLO (which is mostly like MD with additional features for real life garments), Blender and ZBrush. Anything that has a cloth simulation engine can be used, but MD is a very convenient one.

As soon as I master that very dark art confidently enough, I'll sure make a video about the process ;-)
I LOVE YOU!! YOU SOLVED MY BIG PROBLEM!!!
Amazingly explained! So easy and precise!
What if i dont see "Morph target" in MD❓
The interface has changed since I’ve made this video. When you import an OBJ, where it says open in the dialogue, click that and change it to Morph Target.
In Object type dialogue, i dont have Morph target.@@WPguru
It's under Load Type, not Object Type.
i will say that you are amazing and thanks for the help in doing such!!!
Thanks for the video!
In fact, I followed your steps completely, but encountered a very strange phenomenon. When I import the pose to md, the character always shrinks. When I export obj in daz with size cm, and I also choose cm when importing
Even when I import the 8.1 dev character into md as a morph target, the character also becomes very small.
Make sure the import and export scales match. If something h changes size, it's usually an indication that one of them is off by 10 or 100.
i have the same problem. did you solved it?
Oh, it doesn't work on MD12, just tried on 10 and all is good
Great tutorials - but - just asking though why not just it as dForce clothing? Just trying to understand sorry.

It's s shame there's no direct way of linking data between MD and Daz, as the simulation speed of MD on cloth is so fast by comparison to dForce.

Is MD what DAZ content creators use to make clothes for figures?
Yes, MD is a popular one. There’s also CLO (which is mostly like MD with additional features for real life garments), Blender and ZBrush. Anything that has a cloth simulation engine can be used, but MD is a very convenient one.
why daz dont add this Physics motor? .. DAZ - just no 😂
